Making a Lasting Impression: Exploring the Power and Pitfalls of First Impressions in Life, Work, and Relationships Mar 16, 2023
    Show notes

Welcome . In this episode, we're going to talk about the importance of the meet and greet in sales and why soft skills like eye contact, voice inflection, and body language are so crucial to sales success. First off, let's define what we mean by the "meet and greet" in sales. It's the first interaction between a salesperson and a potential customer, whether it's in-person, on the phone, or through video conferencing. The meet and greet sets the tone for the entire sales process, so it's crucial to make a positive first impression. Now, let's talk about why soft skills are so important in the meet and greet. Soft skills are interpersonal skills that are difficult to measure but can make a huge impact on the success of a salesperson. These skills include things like eye contact, voice inflection, and body language. Eye contact is one of the most important soft skills in sales. When you make eye contact with a potential customer, you're showing them that you're interested in what they have to say and that you're trustworthy. It also helps you to build rapport with the customer, which is crucial in establishing a relationship of trust and respect. Voice inflection is another important soft skill in sales. Your tone of voice can convey a lot of information about your attitude, confidence, and enthusiasm. By using the right tone of voice, you can project confidence and enthusiasm, which can help you to persuade the customer to buy from you. Body language is also critical in sales. It's been said that up to 90% of communication is nonverbal, which means that the way you carry yourself can speak volumes about your intentions, feelings, and attitude. For example, if you slouch or avoid eye contact, you're sending a message that you're not confident or trustworthy. On the other hand, if you stand up straight, make eye contact, and use open gestures, you're projecting confidence and openness. So, why are these soft skills so important in sales? Because they help you to establish a connection with the customer. People buy from people they like and trust, and soft skills can help you to build that rapport quickly and effectively. In fact, studies have shown that customers are more likely to buy from salespeople who use soft skills effectively. Finally, let's talk about how you can improve your soft skills in the meet and greet. The first step is to be aware of your body language, tone of voice, and eye contact. Practice standing up straight, making eye contact, and using open gestures. Practice using the right tone of voice to convey confidence and enthusiasm. Another way to improve your soft skills is to practice active listening. This means paying attention to what the customer is saying, asking questions, and showing interest in their needs and concerns. By actively listening, you can build rapport with the customer and show them that you're genuinely interested in helping them. In conclusion, the meet and greet is one of the most crucial stages in the sales process, and soft skills like eye contact, voice inflection, and body language are critical to sales success. By improving your soft skills, you can establish rapport with customers quickly and effectively, build trust and respect, and ultimately close more sales. "Springing Forward: The Pros and Cons of Daylight Savings Time" Mar 12, 2023
    Show notes

Hey folks, welcome back, Today we're going to talk about something that's been on my mind lately, and that's daylight savings time. You know what I'm talking about - that annoying thing where we move the clocks forward an hour in the spring, and then back an hour in the fall. It's like we're trying to mess with time itself, man. Now, some people love daylight savings time. They say it gives them an extra hour of sunlight in the evening, and that it's great for outdoor activities like barbecues or playing sports. But personally, I don't see the appeal. To me, it just messes with my sleep schedule and throws off my entire day. I mean, think about it - we're already living in a world that's constantly changing and evolving. We've got new technology, new information, new ways of doing things. And now we're going to throw in an extra hour of daylight, just for the heck of it? It's like we're trying to make things even more complicated than they already are. Plus, there are studies that show that daylight savings time can actually be harmful to our health. It messes with our circadian rhythms and can cause sleep disturbances, which in turn can lead to a host of other health problems like depression, anxiety, and even heart disease. So, what's the solution? Well, some people are advocating for getting rid of daylight savings time altogether. They argue that it's outdated and unnecessary, and that we should just stick with a standard time all year round. Others say that we should just pick one time - either standard or daylight savings - and stick with it permanently. Personally, I think that getting rid of daylight savings time would be the best option. It's just too much hassle, and it doesn't really seem to serve any useful purpose. And if we can make things simpler and easier for ourselves, why not do it? But hey, that's just my opinion. What do you think? Do you like daylight savings time, or do you think it's a waste of time? Let me know in the comments below. Thanks for tuning in, folks. Until next time, Find someone and say something NICE! #podcasts #podcast #podcasting #podcastersofinstagram #podcastlife #podcaster #podcasters #podcastshow #spotify #applepodcasts #youtube #podcastlove #newpodcast #spotifypodcast #podcastaddict #podcastinglife #comedy #music #radio #podcasthost #itunes #podcastsofinstagram #applepodcast #podcastmovement #podcastnetwork #love #entrepreneur #motivation #podcastcommunity #podernfamily --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/wayne-weathersby/support

Moving Forward: Embrace Your Choices with Confidence - 4 Reasons to Leave Regret Behind Mar 11, 2023
    Show notes

Regret is often the outcome of failure. Sometimes it is the result of a poor decision. Sometimes it’s a hard lesson learned. Regret, at its core, is an emotion. But you do not have to feel regret at all when you think of your past decisions that turned out less than stellar. You might even need to be thankful that it happened. 1. Character Building Failure, poor decisions, or whatever, it all builds character. Our character is continuously changed and shaped throughout our lifetime. The only way to do that is through experience. The experiences you have, good and bad, will ultimately build your character in a better and stronger version of what you started with. 2. There’s a Reason for Everything “Everything happens for a reason” is super cliché, but it’s the truth. Be it a bad relationship or a misstep on an important work or school assignment, there is a reason why it happened. Sometimes that reason is just learning a lesson (start early on a big project), or maybe that bad relationship allowed you to meet the love of your life. When regret weighs heavy, take a step back and look at the big, interlocking picture of your life. 3. Lessons Learned We all have to learn lessons. That’s just a fact of life. Instead of regretting every past decision, look back at all the lessons you have learned and the wisdom you now have to move forward more prepared than when you started. Be thankful for the opportunity to learn. 4. Success Isn’t Free No success is free. For every achievement you see, someone somewhere had to pay for it. So, you might as well pay for your own success. For every failure you experience in life, every regret you feel to your bones, you are that much closer to succeeding, to having paid your dues, learned your lessons, and having every tool you need in your toolbox to make your success happen. Regret and success are fickle creatures. You cannot have one without the other. However, sometimes we become so caught up in the woes of remorse that we can’t see the success just over the horizon or that with every failure, we have marked off another way not to succeed. Reframing your regret will open up a new world of possibilities for your past decisions and your future self. facebook Youtube Amazon What to Watch Welcome to the "Productive Not Busy" podcast, where we explore the power of productivity without burnout. Prioritize Your Projects and Tasks Using the Eisenhower Matrix Mar 06, 2023
    Show notes

The Eisenhower Matrix, also known as the Time Management Matrix, was first created by President Dwight D. Eisenhower during his presidency, and later popularized by Stephen R. Covey in his bestselling book 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. The Eisenhower Matrix is a productivity tool that entrepreneurs can use to become more productive. It can help you prioritize the tasks that you need to complete each day. When it comes to the tasks and activities you need to work as an entrepreneur, it is essential to understand that not all tasks are created equal. Some of the tasks you complete will provide a substantial outcome, while others provide you with next to nothing. Unfortunately, both kinds of tasks take time to complete

5 Lessons from Great Athletes Who Use Visualization for Success Mar 02, 2023
    Show notes

If you think visualization is a lot of hooey, think again. Throughout the ages (dating all the way back to ancient China and the days of the Roman Empire), people have been using visualization to achieve their goals. In fact, you'll find many athletes have been using these techniques for years, leading them to achieve more than they ever thought possible. Don't believe it? Read on to explore several lessons from the great athletes themselves. It Starts in the Vision MMA fighter James Te Huna said, "I visualize what I'm going to do on that day, walk out to the fight. I'll go over and over it inside my head so when I do actually do it, I've been there 100 times before, so it's nothing new." By having a clear goal from the start, you've already won half the battle. What's your goal? Focus on the Success You're never going to make the goal perfectly. Visualization can start hurting you if you get super-specific on what you want. For example, picturing the perfect shot in a soccer game might leave you so hung up on doing it a certain way, you'll miss a better shot you're already set up for. Instead, focus on the outcome when it comes to things involving factors out of your control. Focus on an Image On the other hand, it's good to focus on hard on things you can control. A study done on professional basketball players asked one simple question: Do they visualize themselves making a basket before shooting the ball. The answer was astonishing. Those who visualized the shot, made it about 67% of the time. Those who didn't? 54%. By picturing your outcome in your mind, you are that much more likely to make it. Do it Often Professional soccer player, Alex Morgan, had this to say: "Pregame, I eat pancakes for a meal. I always do mental visualization before the game to prepare myself." She's made visualization part of her routine. So should you. By repeating the visualization, you're much more likely to attain the success you desire. Don't Forget the Work Don't rely entirely on the visualization to get you through. These athletes still practice daily. You still have to put the work in, no matter what it is that you want. Success comes through many channels. Practice, self-talk…all of these things are important. But if you don't succeed first in your mind, you're never going to get anywhere. As every one of these athletes would tell you if they could, their most significant success started right here in visualization. The rest just followed naturally.3 --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/wayne-weathersby/support

Never Look at Failure as Being Final Mar 01, 2023
    Show notes

Do you know anyone who seems to be bulletproof? You know, that friend of yours that takes failures in stride and is always smiling and moving forward in life. How do they do it? You know they're not immune to setbacks or hardship. They just seem to be able to bounce back quickly. Life's inevitable difficulties don't keep them from living the life they desire. By the way, that person can be you. Mental resilience is something that can be developed. It's not a character trait you have to be born with. Every time you suffer some type of loss or failure, you have an opportunity to respond with resilience and emotional control. If that seems impossible for you sometimes, here's what you need to start doing. Never look at a failure as the final result. Don't let some hardship or difficulty be the final chapter in your story. Or, as famous author F. Scott Fitzgerald said ... "Never confuse a single defeat with a final defeat." That is such a powerful reminder that your outlook is everything. The person with resilience chooses a positive outlook. They understand that negative things are going to happen in their life. Yet they don't allow that to be the end of their journey. They don't embrace any single failure or loss as the final declaration of who they are. Just Take One More Step Resilience means persisting. You keep going. You push forward and see life's difficulties as nothing more than challenges. You can either become stronger and more capable or allow a defeat or failure to be a statement of who you are. This can seem like simple advice, but the truth is, sometimes, the hardship we encounter in life can be truly debilitating. We simply don't see a way out. The worst of possible things has happened, and there's simply no way that we see any good coming from this. When this happens, as it inevitably will in life, just take one step forward. Don't worry about some big end result. You may be in a terrible situation. If you are, just make one positive movement. Have one positive thought. Move in the direction of a positive outcome. Even if it's miles away, don't worry about that end result. Just take the first step that moves you a little bit away from the difficulty you encountered. Never let any single defeat be your final defeat. The instant you decide to relentlessly push forward, you show the world and yourself that you are a resilient human being. You won't be kept down for long because your unbreakable mental resolve won't allow you to be defined by defeat. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/wayne-weathersby/support

Warren Buffett's 2-List Strategy to Prioritize and Focus Feb 27, 2023
    Show notes

Warren Buffett is famous for being incredibly wealthy and giving good advice. One of Buffett’s most famous pieces of advice is commonly referred to as the 2-List Strategy or the 25:5 List Strategy. It’s simple, but effective. Let’s look at how it works. How many goals do you have right now? If you’re honest, you probably don’t have any. On the other hand, having 10 goals isn’t an optimal strategy either. This is where Buffett’s idea fits in. Follow this process to use Buffet’s 2-List Strategy to prioritize your goals and focus your energy: 1. List the top 25 goals you’d like to accomplish in your lifetime. Take all the time you need to compile a long list of goals. Many of them you’ll know right off the top of your head, but many will require more thought. It might take a few days to a week to complete this step. Once you get started, you’ll find that additional ideas pop into your head at random moments. Be sure to capture these. Feel free to make the initial list much longer than 25, but ultimately limit yourself to 25. 2.Choose the five most important. This is a little tougher. Choose the five most important goals from your list of 25 goals. Again, you might need some time to complete this step. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/wayne-weathersby/support

It's Time to GIVE UP! Feb 25, 2023
    Show notes

Our culture encourages a never give up attitude. While that might be a good philosophy to live by the majority of the time, there comes a time when it makes sense to throw in the towel. No one wants to be a quitter, but quitting is actually the smartest choice in some circumstances. Is it time to give up? Let’s find out. Quitting may be the right choice for your circumstances if: 1. The outcome you wanted no longer appeals to you. Maybe you always wanted to be a cowboy, or become a classical pianist, or run a marathon, but interests change. If something truly no longer appeals to you, it’s silly to waste your time pursuing it. However, be certain it’s the outcome that no longer excites you. Perhaps it’s just the work ahead that’s unappealing. That’s a different issue. 2. The required sacrifice is no longer worth it. Accomplishing anything significant requires a sacrifice. In the case of a physical endeavor, that sacrifice might be physical discomfort, injury, or time. Other goals might have financial sacrifices. Regardless of the goal, there will be a sacrifice. You might discover that the sacrifice is far greater than you anticipated, or that your priorities have changed. Life isn’t a static event. Everything is constantly changing. 3.You’ve found something better. Suppose you were fascinated by the violin, so you bought a violin and started taking lessons. Along the way, you discovered the tuba and all its glory. It’s reasonable to quit the violin and pursue the tuba instead. Sometimes, our initial interests lead us to the thing that we really love. Many psychologists recommend this as a strategy for finding your true self. They suggest giving all of your interests a fair try and then see what happens as a result. 4.You’re overly concerned with what others think. Are you pursuing medical school, a great set of abs, or a BMW because you want to impress others? This is hardly satisfying. You’d be wise to quit immediately and find something else to do with your time that will satisfy you directly. No one is ever going to give you enough praise to make your efforts worth it. 5.It’s taking too much time or other resources from a more significant goal. Some of your interests might be impeding your progress toward more significant goals. You only have a certain number of hours each day. Spreading yourself too thin ensures that you’ll never accomplish anything significant. Casual interests often have to be set aside to support the bigger picture. 6.Your capabilities have changed. Maybe you had a shot of winning the NYC marathon at one time in the past. Age, injuries, family issues, and other recently discovered limitations can become hurdles too big to overcome. Or, those hurdles can make the necessary sacrifices too big to be worth the effort. 2 As your situation changes, your objectives might change, too. For example, a recently married person might find that they have greater responsibilities and demands on their resources - with new priorities - so they may want to forego a previous goal. Some goals become too costly in terms of resources to continue to pursue. A lifetime doesn’t last forever. There’s only so much time, money, and other resources available to pursue your goals. Your interests can also change. What was once appealing can lose its luster over time. Maybe you’ve just found something better to spend your time on. Or, perhaps your capabilities or life situation has changed. These are all good reasons to consider quitting. There’s no shame in calling it quits when it’s the smartest option available to you. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/wayne-weathersby/support

A Winning Formula for Developing Internal Talent Feb 23, 2023
    Show notes

Years ago, a successful career usually meant achieving upward mobility. Ambitious employees climbed the corporate ladder to reach management positions. Today, fulfilling career paths run in many different directions, and fewer employees spend their entire careers at one company. However, some things stay the same. Most workers still value career growth even more than salary and benefits. At the same time, employers depend on a staff that feels engaged in their work and uses learning and development opportunities to enhance their performance. How can your business cultivate internal talent so that employees contribute maximum value in their individual roles? Consider these ideas for talent attraction and retention strategies designed for today’s workforce.
Employees are the lifeblood of any business. Without employees, a company would cease to exist. However, the role of employees is not without its challenges. Employees can be difficult to manage and motivate because they have their own set of goals and priorities that may differ from those of the company as a whole. In order to cultivate internal talent within an organization, it is important for companies to develop an environment that supports employee growth and development while also providing them with opportunities for personal fulfillment and career advancement. The first step in cultivating internal talent is by creating a culture where people feel valued and supported. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/wayne-weathersby/support
