    Show notes

Rachel Joy is a board-certified Trainer and Master Practitioner in Clinical Hypnotherapy, NLP, EFT, T.I.M.E Techniques, Life and Success Coaching, and she's also my Capricorn soul sister. Rachel talks about moments in her career where she had to make really bold decisions that maybe didn't make sense to anyone else and the magic that happened as a result of listening to her intuition. We dive into how to create change on a subconscious level and tools to help tune into the guidance that is within all of us if we're willing to listen. We also discuss some of the pivotal moments that we've experienced at mastermind events and Rachel gives details about her upcoming Elevate and Amplify event.

In this episode we talk about:

    • Internal challenges and thought work that people don't see
    • The shift that happened when she took two weeks off from actively promoting and selling

    • Taking the time to lean in and get quiet
    • Rachel's advice for anyone who's on the cusp of making a big decision that they know is right, but it feels scary and uncomfortable to say 'yes' to

    329. How To Stop People-Pleasing At The Expense Of Your Own Dreams Apr 05, 2022
    Show notes

For the majority of my life, I've just chosen to compromise my own dreams in the hopes of not disappointing other people. In doing so, I've actually missed the opportunities to make the full impact that I know I'm meant to make. Where do you see yourself holding back in order to make other people more comfortable? In this episode, I'm talking about the role that fear has played in my entrepreneurial journey and how I'm working to overcome those moments of self doubt. I share a quote from Glennon Doyle that has really impacted how I view my own potential and the duty that I have to pursue my wildest and boldest ideas. I also list a few journal prompt questions that I've been working with and get into how I've been approaching this thought work.

In this episode we talk about:

    • Why so many of us hold back on what we really want
    • Thoughts, doubts, and questions that come up for me when I'm in an intense growth season
    • Where I've seen myself compromise my vision
    • How I'm working on my people-pleasing tendencies
    • Why it's actually selfish to not reach your full potential
    • Tapping into your subconscious mind and intuition
    • The discomfort of being stagnant

    EPISODE TIMELINE & DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

( 0:42 ) Welcome back to another episode of Powerhouse Women! Lindsey opens up the episode by asking listeners, "Who are you most afraid of disappointing if you were to go after your dreams?"

( 2:19 ) Lindsey says, "I think a big reason why we hold back and we don't go all in and share really boldly is a fear of what other people are going to think about it."

( 5:40 ) Lindsey shares a quote from Glennon Doyle that really impacted her. "Every time you are given a choice between disappointing someone else and disappointing yourself, your duty is to disappoint that someone else. Your job throughout your entire life is to disappoint as many people as it takes to avoid disappointing yourself."

( 8:16 ) Lindsey shares moments when she has chosen to disappoint herself instead of other people.

( 10:39 ) Lindsey poses another reflective question for listeners. "If you knew that you could do anything and no one would be disappointed, if you could have anything and no one would be mad or jealous or triggered, what would you want?"

( 11:26 ) Lindsey describes how this question has guided her in the past.

( 16:13 ) Lindsey says, "The times when I avoid taking that step for far too long because I'm afraid of disappointing someone, that almost becomes more uncomfortable than taking the step."

( 17:49 ) Lindsey closes out the episode by saying, "When we do the bold thing, we actually change the world."

    EPISODE TIMELINE & DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

( 0:49 ) Welcome back to another episode of Powerhouse Women!

( 1:30 ) Lindsey and Hannah are recapping their time at the James Wedmore's Performance Mastermind retreat and the Powerhouse Women Mastermind retreat.

( 3:00 ) Attending and hosting mastermind retreats was a reminder to them about how powerful in-person mastermind events are.

( 8:09 ) One of Lindsey's biggest takeaways from the performance mastermind was that there are so many ways to grow a business.

( 9:42 ) Hannah shares why the performance mastermind was so expansive for her.

( 13:07 ) Lindsey says that being a participant reminded her to try new ideas and methods when it comes to growing the Powerhouse community.

( 13:46 ) Another takeaway for Lindsey was the power of integrity.

( 16:35 ) Hannah realized that she doesn't have any problems keeping her word with other people, but she isn't keeping the promises she makes to herself.

( 22:53 ) Hannah says that from the Powerhouse Women Mastermind, she was reminded that, "in every single part of your business, 90% of your success is your mindset."

( 26:56 ) Lindsey was reminded that, "if you've ever felt like your goals are too ambitious, they're too big, like you are too much, you are probably not hanging around the right kind of people most of the time."

I'm sharing my experience with confronting my insecurities and three reasons why you should absolutely reframe the things that are holding you back. You have the opportunity to prove to people that if you can do it, so can they. What's stopping you?

    EPISODE TIMELINE & DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

( 0:50 ) Welcome back to another episode of Powerhouse Women!

( 2:06 ) Lindsey and Hannah talk about the upcoming Powerhouse Women event.

( 7:16 ) Hannah shares the first listener question from Kristen P. "Whenever I receive negative feedback, I feel it so personally. How can I seperate myself from my business in this way?"

( 8:07 ) Lindsey shares how caring a lot can actually be an advantage, but it's about understanding if the criticism is coming from someone who is part of your target audience.

( 11:22 ) Hannah agrees that it's helpful to take a constructive lens on criticism.

( 13:24 ) Lindsey reads the second question from Veronica C. "Why is it that my supporters aren't my closest friends and family, but instead are strangers? Why is that and how do I handle that?"

( 14:34 ) Hannah says that she believes we connect with the people who understand our vision, and that might not be your friends and family.

( 17:42 ) Lindsey says, "Give those people permission to love you and support you in the best way they know how, but find the groups that support you in the way you need to be supported."

( 18:02 ) Hannah reads the third question from Shannon H. "I have a friend who has pretty much blocked me from her life. While I can't say for sure, I think my line of business has something to do with it. How do I handle the change in this relationship?"

( 19:43 ) Lindsey shares how she handled this situation when it happened to her.

( 22:12 ) Hannah reads the fourth question from Brittany H. "I tend to be perfectly fine expressing my business ideas to newcomers or those I have met. All of my fears start setting in when I think of the opinions of previous co-workers or classmates. How can I get past this?"

( 22:56 ) Lindsey says, "Your vision was given to you for a reason. Other people can't see it. Other people aren't going to get it fully the way you do, and they aren't supposed to."

( 24:56 ) Lindsey says, "Remember that it is okay to protect the seed of that big idea at first."

( 26:37 ) Hannah says, "You don't actually have to explain yourself to everyone."

( 28:51 ) Hannah shares her final thoughts and wraps up the episode.

I used to let myself do this thing that I call 'cute quit,' which is where you build up excuses and create a life that reinforces you to give up when things get tough. I've learned how to let go of the busy work and actually dig into the things that make me uncomfortable and help me grow. Now, this isn't a linear process, but in today's episode, I share how you can get started on this journey and build up the muscle of showing up and continuing to do the things that challenge you.

In this episode we talk about:

    • How to believe and trust in yourself more
    • What happens when you break the promises that you make to yourself
    • Facing the deep-rooted fears that I had around writing a book
    • Getting honest about busy work vs. work that pushes the needle on your business
    • Having an extra layer of accountability to keep you on track with your goals

    321. Feeling Stuck? 3 Questions To Keep Your Mindset Rooted In Possibility Mar 08, 2022
    Show notes

What would happen if you stayed rooted in possibility instead of obsessing over the worst case scenario? I believe that our results are largely determined by the questions that we're willing to ask ourselves. Today, I'm breaking down the three questions that I ask myself any time I'm feeling really stuck around how to move forward in any given situation.

These questions are meant to get you thinking differently about your goals, decisions and what's possible. They help me gain control over my mindset and reach out to other people who might be holding the keys to something that I see as a locked door. Listen in to hear more about how to confront limiting beliefs by asking yourself powerful questions.

In this episode we talk about:

    • Why asking yourself questions helps you unlock creative solutions
    • Paying attention to your immediate reaction and beliefs when you ask yourself these three questions
    • Examples of how I've used this method to transform my own business ventures
    • Accepting support from people that you can learn from
    • Why it's important to imagine best case scenarios
