The Real Me: Juan Carlos “JC” Razuri Oct 09, 2021
    Show notes

The Real Me follows the stories of young songwriters and performers with cancer who found hope, healing and connection through music.

Presented by Teen Cancer America, the national non-profit founded by rock icons Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend of The Who, “The Real Me” highlights the moving experiences of cancer patients in TCA’s Play It Back program, which matches them with music professionals to write, perform and record fully produced studio versions of their original songs.

The first episode is with JC!

Juan Carlos “JC” Razuri is a singer/songwriter and instrumentalist. In high school, he performed with the orchestra, marching band, and jazz ensemble. Before cancer, he played violin, marching bass drum, keyboard, percussion, and the drum set. JC had also just started fiddling with music production before his diagnosis. His favorite genres are Classic Rock, Indie Rock, R & B, and Pop. JC’s musical influences include Queen, Abba, The Weeknd, Frank Ocean, Boy Pablo, Khalid, and Lord Huron. Cancer temporarily stopped him from creating and performing music, but it did cause him to listen to music more often. Play It Back has allowed JC to get a look into the modern-day music producing process, to be more creative, and to connect with people in similar circumstances. His favorite memory in Play It Back is when he had an “aha!” moment on the first song he worked on with Kenli. It came from a melody he was improvising on violin.

What Difference Does It Make: Jude Cole and his Coup De Main Oct 09, 2021
    Show notes

The coup de main, or surprise attack, for Jude Cole, is that after 21 years, he's released two records in 2021. Coup De Main is an album of originals, and Coolerator, showcases his love of 50s music with all cover songs. His early career took off when Moon Martin (the guy responsible for writing "Bad Case Of Loving You") plucked a 19 year old Jude Cole to play in his band, but Jude is best known as a solo artist in the 80s and 90s, with a top ten hit "Baby It's Tonight". His career has experienced many highs and lows, and we get into it all on the What Difference Does It Make Podcast.

Hear Coup de Main and Coolerator for free on Amazon Music.

Vintage Rock Pod: Steve Rothery - Marillion Oct 09, 2021
    Show notes

With9 'Top 10' albums and 23 'Top 40' singles in the UK, Marillion are one of the most successful and enduring bands of the prog genre - and that's despite launching in the 80's, when prog was apparently dead following the punk and new wave movements! Their mix of prog, hard rock and AOR with distinctive lyrics and vocal styles has kept them on top of the game.

Founding member and ever present guitarist, STEVE ROTHERY, is my guest on Episode 41 to talk all about the bands success, the surreal time after KAYLEIGH became a hit, his former bandmate Fish, plans for a new tour and album and much more.

Ditty TV: Susto Oct 08, 2021
    Show notes

Our guest today is Justin Osborne, front man of the Charleston, SC-founded band SUSTO. SUSTO will return at the end of this month with a new record titled 'Time in the Sun' via New West Records. It follows their critically acclaimed 2019 studio album 'Ever Since I Lost My Mind'. The joy of birth, the closure of death, the warmth of true friendship, and the future rotate on the axis of this new record.

Prior to entering the studio, Osborne became a father and midway through recording, lost his own father to cancer. Because he had begun writing when he found out he was going to be a dad, these events were the biggest inspirations for the record. He says it felt like he was in between the beginning and the end of life. He’s a pretty profound guy and we really enjoyed connecting with him.

Shout It Out Loudcast: "KISS - Rolling Stone Cover" Oct 07, 2021
    Show notes

This week Tom & Zeus review the April 10, 2014 Rolling Stone cover story about KISS. After all these years KISS finally made the cover of the Rolling Stone.

The issue came out around the time of the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame drama. Written by Brian Hiatt, the article is a snapshot of the band at perhaps its most turbulent time period. The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction became a sore spot for the original members and insults, allegations and hostility was prevalent. The author talks with each member at length and a fascinating portrait of each original member is revealed.

Tom & Zeus breakdown the article and discuss all the drama and the hilarious stories.

So don't fall down the stairs laughing, but if you do, don't worry your probably wont remember ... at least not for 40 minutes.
