#97: Drunk in Tampa Nov 23, 2023

Show notes

It's BOSTON COLLEGE week and two out of three of the OBB's join the show after a day of Thanksgiving vacation drinking! We dive right into what it will take to get a win to close out the season, and how surprised we are by Miami being favored by 10 1/2!

Plus we talk about TVD being non-commital in regards to the coming bowl game, which leads us to speculate about his future at the U. And if Tyler does go elsewhere, everyone on the show hopes he succeeds and gets back whatever he lost this season.

The debate rages about roster make-up and the future as we close out the season, we get a little wild in the Week 12 Pick 'Ems, a hilariously offensive AI OBB, and everyone on the show says what they are thankful for this year.

This episode is presented by Ed Morse Automotive Group, Paul Bange Roofing, BeatinTheBookie.com & Manscaped.

Week 11 Recap: Canes Lose 38-31 to Louisville Nov 20, 2023

Show notes

The Miami Hurricanes had their home finale on Saturday and lost to Louisville 38-31. As has been the case for most of the year, the players played hard and did not quit. Unfortunately, they were once again let down by their coaching staff as Mario & Co were completely outcoached by Brian Brohm & Co. In fact, Mario’s performance through 2 years has now caused one OBB to sell on him moving forward. Jenners is away and we went long and bared our Canes fans souls. This shit has got to change…we are over it.

**#96: Chicken Genocide** Nov 16, 2023
Show notes

It's Louisville week! And we open the show with a deep dive into... classic arcade video games. But once we get it together and get serious, it's a look back on Emory's performance from the FSU game and a look at Louisville this Saturday.

Scoop's poll on Twitter this week asked a simple question... are we more surprised by the lack of tight end play, or the improvement in the linebacker group? The debate unfolds on both sides, as everyone weighs in on their most impressive improvements so far this season.

And after Toast and Roman got dragged on social media for saying we missed again on the O.C. hire, Toast fires back with a response that every angry Miami fan needs to contemplate. And this week's keys to the game include diversifying the screen game, strong play on defense (again), solid kicking game and running the ball.

Plus Week 11 Pick 'Ems remain a total mess thanks to Jenners (who somehow pulled all the wrong lines) and we close out the show with an AI OBB.

Week 10 Recap: Canes Lose 27-20 at FSU Nov 12, 2023

Show notes

Well we really fought in this one, and the guys were all impressed by how the team played with a back-up quarterback and a stout defensive effort. Plus the debate rages about the safety that wasn't a safety and just how bad the ACC officiating has been this year.

Thoughts and prayers out to Emory Williams who had a tough injury despite playing a great game in what seemed like an impossible situation. And Scoop wants to know what happened to Jacurri in a game where he really could have been used. And the QB play down the stretch gets Toast hot yet again.

It's also surprising how often we have to discuss game management issues by the coaching staff as they chewed up way too much time at the end of the game. And Roman and Toast both feel like Mario has gone 0-for-2 in Offensive Coordinators.

The depth at quarterback going into next season also scares all the guys on the show as we look at the coming season. A lot to digest as we turn the corner to the final games of the year.

Week 9 Recap: Canes Lose 20-6 at NC State Nov 05, 2023

Show notes

Even on a terrible loss, you can tell that this team is much better than last year - as the defense had a hell of a night on the road. But it seems clear to Roman that Tyler has lost his confidence and he's unsure if it stems from the recent injury. And Toast believes that we've started to enter territory where Tyler doesn't give you your best chance to win anymore.

Scoop also gets hot about the Canes not kicking the field goal in the 4th and making it a one possession game, especially after NC State took the ball 97 yards and all but ended the game. And keeping the rants going, Toast goes OFF on the basic approach to the game and lays all the shortcomings at Mario's feet.

On the positive side, everyone is big on the way the defense has played last night and thus far through the season. Plus Mark Fletcher was the sole highlight on offense, showing that the run game and offensive line are difference makers.

#94: Hard Penix Nov 02, 2023

Show notes

It's NC STATE WEEK with another huge primetime matchup for the Canes. And we have yet another week where several Canes have received honors and recognition, including Rueben Bain and Andy Borregales.

Roman also brings a ridiculous hypothetical to the show about pulling Restrepo off the field so that TVD isn't staring him down as much. Plus we dive into our full NC State preview as we hit the road for this big matchup.

We also get an AI OBB, discuss the new ACC set matchups (with UM getting VA Tech and FSU every season), and roll into some wild Week 10 Pick 'Ems.

Week 8 Recap: CANES WIN 29-26 over Virginia in OT Oct 29, 2023

Show notes

OBB Week 8 Recap: CANES WIN 29-26 over Virginia in OT

CANES WIN a very rough game against Virginia, and everyone celebrates the final play of the game with Fletcher's amazing game-winning TD run. Plus we have nothing but great things to say about Andy Borregales after he drills three 40+ yard field goals to keep Miami in the game.

We also try to figure out what's going on with TVD, and Scoop thinks maybe it's because he was so good the first four games, and we believe that he's still nursing an injury from the way he played.

We also take a look around the mess that is the ACC, we celebrate being bowl eligible, and discuss how the fan base is feeling about our quarterback depth going forward.

#93: A Fistful of Cheez-Its Oct 26, 2023

Show notes

It's Virginia week!! And coming off a huge win over Clemson, we recognize that we need to be more positive coming off big wins even if there is still work to do. And as we look at our history with Virginia, where we do feel confident, the history of the match-up shakes us up a little bit.

Plus, Toast feels like all the negative energy surrounding the Canes right now emanates from the Georgia Tech game. And our three keys include Malik Washington, TVD getting back to being TVD, and the defense continuing to dominate up front.

The AI OBB's check in to crap on the show after they downplayed the huge Clemson win, and we try to figure out the approach to QB2 as both Emory and Jucarri will compete to replace Tyler if and when he declares for the Draft.

There are also some early bowl predictions to discuss, Toast brings us the worst state of the week, and Week 9 Pick 'Ems round out the show as we start to focus on the final month of the season. And we can't sign off without talking about the Michigan sign stealing controversy.

Week 7 Recap: CANES WIN 28-20 against Clemson in 2OT Oct 22, 2023

Show notes

The Miami Hurricanes got a 28-20 double overtime win over Clemson!! And we start by talking about the show that Rueben Bain put on against the Tigers, and Scoop feels like he might be the best defensive player in the country.

Plus HUGE wins in the turnover battle, and the overall defensive presence throughout the game. We address the last second move to start Emory Williams over an injured TVD, as while he played an up-and-down game, he made the throws that counted. Even though Ro thinks that Shannon's game plan was dreadful, because as Mario tells the media that it was the hardest game for Dawson to coach, Ro feels like he was unprepared for Emory Williams to start.

And while everyone is thrilled with this huge win, Toast is concerned about the way Mario is managing a very well-assembled team. As Shannon's play calling continues to come into question, everyone is trying to figure out if Mario needs to micro-manage a little more or just pull in the reins on his guys.

Of course we talk about the officiating... and the debate breaks out over the question of the game... was it a safety?? And game balls go to the offensive line and the defense.
