    #046 | January 13th, 2011: Fabien Kamb & Kevin Venable Jan 13, 2011
    Show notes

Click the post for details on this episode! Born in Yerevan, Armenia ‐ Garry Mkrtchyan is the man using the artistic name Fabien Kamb as a dj, musician and producer. Taking his first musical steps back in the 90’s, when being totally blown away with the ever‐growing electronic sounds, Garry made his initial researches in sound production and engineering, which had to be the very first attempts in staring a producer’s career. Since then, he has been noticed to produce electronic music covering a wide range of genres like ambient/IDM/drum’n’bass, while simultaneously experimenting with various sounds that eventually introduced a whole new challenge of self‐education in sound engineering, recording and post‐production. Fabien Kamb’s standpoint concerning the ever‐evolving house music trends and a sense of self confidence is placing him among the internationally re‐known DJs and producers of our times. Surely enough, the list of record labels wishing to have Fabien on board, and other artists wishing to gain a remix from this producer, is constantly growing up. Fabien has already been involved in producing both originals and remixes for such reputable labels as Elevation Records (Ireland), Neurotraxx, Body Rhythm Black, Brown Eyed Boyz and especially Low Flow Records which he co‐owns with Ashot Babayan (Krummstoff). The music of Fabien Kamb is a pure reflection of the whole spectrum of his musical researches and sound engineering experiments, which at this point are mostly concentrated at tech house, deep house and deep‐tech production. Look out for his full length album coming in 2011. Click the post for details on this episode! Happy Holidays to everyone! Today's episode is a special New Years edition featuring exclusive sets from Plastic Love residents, Bas & Jimmy Maheras... Not only do these guys have fantastic taste in house music (evidenced by their monthly podcast and epic Avalon parties), they are also all around great dudes... --More on Plastic Love-- Plastic Love Website - Click HERE Plastic Love on Facebook - Click HERE Plastic Love on Soundcloud - Click HERE The first hour will be mixed by Bas! Having been musically inclined all his life, Bas started off taking piano lessons that unfortunately never stuck, in high school he picked up the drums and did that through most of college playing in various jazz bands, orchestras, drum lines etc. Bas started DJing in 1999, moved to LA in 2005 and has played all over the city. Avalon, The Vanguard, a couple of one offs and underground parties, even holding a short residency at one of LA's seminal parties, Basic. Hooking up with the Droog crew some time after that through Justin Sloe, he's been in with them ever since. Helping launch the Culprit label 2008, he also assists with the Culprit web promotions, and has since enjoyed being a Culprit resident at the infamous Culprit Sessions both atop The Standard rooftop and tucked away in various Hollywood hot spots. The summer of 2010 has seen Bas start his own brand, Plastic Love, alongside fellow DJ cohort Jimmy Maheras. A way for them to flex their respective DJ muscles, Plastic Love parties and podcast feature guests from around Los Angeles and abroad playing disco, house, techno, acid, and everything in between... Danny's marathon sets and Erick Morillo's Subliminal parties were his most direct musical influences. Jimmy began DJing after relocating from New York to Los Angeles in the late 90s. He has played on both coasts in clubs that include Spundae and Basic in Los Angeles as well as Spider Club and Sin Sin in New York. Much like the old school New York DJs he grew up listening to, Jimmy doesn't limit himself to a single sound. His genre-crossing sets include elements of soulful New York Garage, Detroit Techno, and dark tribal rhythms. Today, he is half of Plastic Love, bringing the solid sounds of underground house to Los Angeles with fellow west coast favorite, Bas. Enjoy! #043 | December 23rd, 2010: Kenneth Thomas & Paul Oakenfold Dec 23, 2010
    Show notes

Click the post for details on this episode! Hey folks, Happy Holidays! I am really excited about this episode - exclusive guest mixes by two of the world's most in-demand DJs, Kenneth Thomas and Paul Oakenfold. "Kenneth Thomas is without doubt one of the most promising young DJs in the electronic scene right now. There's an intelligence and a well defined style to his sets. He's quickly emerging as one to watch in the next generation of superstar DJs." When Paul Oakenfold has this to say about someone, people can tend to stop and take a listen. Following in an elite class consisting of Dave Ralph, D:Fuse & Hernan Cattaneo, its seems every 5 years or so Oakenfold hand picks a future star to take under his wing and the latest selection is Kenneth Thomas. Hailing out of the Detroit, the birthplace of Techno, KT stands out with his emotional and melodic sound. Yet, the same aggression that spawned the early techno sounds of the 90's is the same fuel that fires Kenneth to explore the emotional side of the musical experience. Music has always been a spiritual place for Kenneth and because the depth of dance music goes well beyond the conscious level, there's an underlying exploration and experience in every set and track. Beyond traveling the globe sharing his music, Kenneth has also become a juggernaut in the studio. Over the past 6 years he's completed over 50 original tracks and remixes for labels including Perfecto, Hope, Armada, Om, Cuurve, Alter Ego, Pacha and more. Now, busy working on his debut artist album coming later this fall, we have seen this 'Dj at heart' break new ground in the areas of production. Also on the plate, beyond DJing and the studio, KT is A&R for Oakenfolds' Perfecto Records, helping spearhead the renaissance of one of the greatest labels dance music has ever seen. The future is bright for Kenneth. Touring the world sharing his blend of progressive minded dance music, the focus has never changed since day one as he says, "This is the most amazing sound I have ever encountered, I just want to share it with as many people as possible" Kenneth Thomas' Website - Click HERE Kenneth Thomas' Track List: 01) Jelly For The Babies & Filip Fisher - Symphony of Love 02) Justin Oh - Only Thing I Need 03) ID - ID 04) Save The Robot - Big Ben 05) Faithless - Feeling Good (Ferry Corsten Remix) 06) KT vs. MC Ramon - Fug The Vox (KT Bootleg) 07) Ralph May vs. Intersonic - Luminous Flux 08) Dada Life - Lets Get Bleeped (Tiesto Remix) 09) Kenneth Thomas feat. Jaidene Veda - Breakthrough vs. All I Have (Oliver Smith vs. Kenneth Thomas Mashup) 11) Wideband Network - Attention (Tommy K Drum & Bass Mix) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Paul Oakenfold is often the first experience that many people have with electronica - his mixes made me fall in love with the music years ago... he has been touted as one of the world’s leading DJ/remixers by various outlets including CNN, Rolling Stone, BPM, Remix and more. His first album for Maverick Bunkka was released in 2002. It included "Starry Eyed Surprise" featuring Shifty Shellshock of Crazy Town, a Top 10 hit in both America and the U.K. Other guests on the album were Perry Farrell, Nelly Furtado, Ice Cube, Tricky and Hunter S. Thompson (his last recording before he passed away). “Starry Eyed Surprise” reappeared in early 2005 as part of Diet Coke’s ad campaign for their re-launch of the beverage using Splenda. Paul Oakenfold’s 2004 mix album Another World has reached gold status in sales making it one of the biggest selling dance albums of all time. In total his releases have sold almost 2 million in the U.S. alone. Film credits include music for Nobel Son, Collateral, Swordfish, The Matrix Reloaded, Pirates of the Caribbean, Die Another Day, Planet Of The Apes, The Bourne Identity and Shrek II. TV credits include music for Alias, Big Brother and Las Vegas. Remix credits include, among many others, works for U2, Rolling Stones, Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake, Madonna, Paris Hilton Jennifer Lopez, Salt N Pepa and The Cure. As a touring musician, Oakenfold has DJ’d in hundreds of places around the world. Some unique locations he has appeared at include the Great Wall in China, the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles (sold out) and Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado. Other foreign territories he’s appeared include Cypress, Lebanon, Ibiza, Korea and more. He’s also noted as one of the most well traveled electronic touring artists within the United States. He scored GoldenEye: Rogue Agent, the James Bond-inspired videogame. He was the star of Spike TV series The Club and had a cameo appearance in the film The Rules of Attraction. Prior to becoming a world famous DJ and producer, Oakenfold served as an A&R consultant for Profile Records and Def Jam, where he signed artists including Salt N’ Pepa, DJ Jazzy Jeff and Will Smith. Paul Oakenfold was born in London, England and currently resides in the U.S. Before becoming a major force in the music industry he graduated from the Westminster Technical culinary institute becoming a certified chef. He was also an investor along with rockers Tommy Lee and Dave Navarro in the Hollywood, CA nightlife establishment Rokbar. In addition to his memorable charisma, he brings with him an excited and energized attitude that permeates every interaction he has. He brings this same excitement to every show that he plays, and revels in passing it on to his audience. Born in Baltimore MD, Neil came up in the world of Hip-Hop and Baltimore Club, playing alongside such luminaries as Karizma, Scottie B and DJ Spen. Known for being a master of the art of turntablism, and for genre-bending sets of house, hip-hop and intelligent drum & bass, he’s graced the decks of such legendary parties as Miami’s Afternoon Delight (“5 Best WMC Daytime Parties” by MixMag UK), Ultraworld’s Starscape Festival, and Baltimore’s Mosaic lounge (twice listed as Spin Magazines “Best Nights Out in America”). Although still a lover of the music of his roots, Neil has settled firmly in the realm of house music where he has made an indelible mark. Famous for marathon sets of tech house splashed with deep tribal undertones, heavy hitting percussion, and infectious bass lines, Neil is truly the dancer’s DJ. This focus on the dance floor has helped to launch his career to new heights in recent years, and he has been active in the electronic music scene now more than ever. As owner of Soul Mob Productions, Neil co-founded the epic Visionary Solstice Gatherings that have hosted such acclaimed artists and musicians as Alex Grey, Fort Knox Five and Shpongle. He’s also a resident of the Philadelphia Experiment (PEX), playing events throughout the east-coast, and has shared the stage with some of the biggest names in electronic music including Ron Carroll, Bassnectar, Jay-J, Jask, LTJ Bukem, and Infected Mushroom. Currently, Neil continues to expand internationally playing at events around the world as demand for his music pulls him to new places with fresh ears and steady dance floors. With over a decade of experience already under his belt, the future looks to be even brighter for this rising star, and Neil Kurland is definitely someone to keep an eye on. #038 | November 18th, 2010: Arthur Galestian & Randy Seidman (Pure.fm Mix) Nov 18, 2010
    Show notes

Click the post for details on this episode! For over a decade, Arthur has been setting dance floors on fire in cities both near and far away. To date, he has performed at venues such as the Hollywood Arena, Spundae, RED, LMD at Circus, the Miami Winter Music Conference, The Standard in LA, Leiden’s Liberation Festivities in Holland, and Empire Ballroom at the 2006 Las Vegas Music Conference. 2010 marked the seventh year of Arthur’s radio show, “The Division of Hardcore Samples”, which aired every Thursday night from 10PM-12AM PST on KUCI 88.9 FM (kuci.org) in Orange County, CA. Through this, he worked alongside artists such as Armin van Buuren, Dubfire (of Deep Dish), Miss Nine, Matthew Dekay, Marco Bailey, and Paolo Mojo. In addition, his weekly radio show allowed him to feature and interview many renowned DJs—such as UK DJ and Producer Lange, production stars Jonathan “Jono” Grant and Tony McGuinness of Above & Beyond, trance vocalist and songwriter JES, and radio legend Swedish Egil of Groove Radio. At the start of 2010—after nearly seven years of being on the air—Arthur moved on from his Thursday night slot at KUCI 88.9FM to embrace emerging opportunities with greater focus. He currently guest hosts the “KUCI Hall of Fame Show” once a month, with revolving guest appearances by some of the most established names in the dance music industry. In the production realm, Arthur is most noted for his bootlegged remix and mash-up, Lange vs Marcos – Out of Reality (Arthur Galestian’s Out-of-this-World Mash-Up), an electro-trance bomber which has seen heavy support all around the world at electronic music festivals, clubs, and events. For over two years, the track has seen consistent plays from the likes of Lange on his “Intercity” radio show, in addition to support on Armin van Buuren’s “A State of Trance” (episode 450), and tech-trance guru Mark Sherry’s “Outburst” radio show (episode 162). He has also produced mixes for Paul Oakenfold’s international radio show “Planet Perfecto”, syndicated by The Radio Department in the UK. Never ceasing to experiment, Arthur took a foray into the techno domain and released his first techno compilation on Aurora Music earlier this year. With so many accomplishments to his name, it’s no wonder why Arthur is quickly becoming one of the most sought-after talents in electronic music.
