    #027 | September 2nd, 2010: Anthony DiMaggio & Moonbeam Sep 01, 2010
    Show notes

Click the post for details on this episode! Today is a good day for tunes - pure and simple! Anthony DiMaggio was exposed to music at an early age thanks to his mother, a professional jazz singer, in Los Angeles. His love for music led him to the electronic music scene. Intrigued by the great local talent and a new way to express himself, Djing became the next logical step. I've had the opportunity to play a couple parties with Anthony, you will really enjoy his selection... Formed in Nizhny Novgorod in 2003, brothers Pavel and Vitaliy have been steadily releasing dance floor tracks that weave seamlessly from thick-bellied atmospheric techno to dense charging trance. Storming into DJ Magazine’s Top100 Poll, the two continue to widen their sonic arc with a fabric of different styles and diverse guest vocalists both in their studio and with their live shows. In 2005, Moonbeam Digital was created, which led them collaborate with some of the scenes most talented producers such as Jeff Bennett, Jon Silva, Joshua Collins, Stephan Hinz and LeRon & Yves Eaux, and others. From here onward Moonbeam’s approach of crafting the most palatable elements of Techno, progressive, trance and house show they have a penchant for big room melodies, striking a tour de force that melds live electronic compounds like a perfectly mixed Russian cocktail. Despite their array of stadium rocking dj’s, archiving Moonbeam simply under the T of Trance would limit this duo in a musical sense; and despite whatever genre they turn to they certainly have there production sound locked with releases also ranging to deep warm compositions sometimes even complimented with Balearic influences. Now after almost a decade Moonbeam can count themselves amongst the biggest music exponents in the history of Russian dance music and their latest new album “Around The World” certainly contributes to their status. Currently signed to the multiple award winning Black Hole Recordings, they deliver a high quality twelve track album that raises the bar for future electronic music. Mendo then signed three releases on DJ Chus's Stereo Productions, including the club anthem “Watermelon”, a Stereo Productions’s all-time best-seller. Chus was on Open House earlier this year - you can check out his episode and track list at the Open House home page. Currently, while living in Hollywood, Cameron Angeli has a residency twice a month at Avalon’s famous Jerry Lewis VIP Lounge - a room which he and the Music Savages launched in early 2009. In additional to his residency, he performs in many clubs across Los Angeles including, Vanguard, King King, Opera, Spider Club, and Cinespace, as well as at various underground parties in Vancouver, The Bay Area, Downtown LA, Hollywood, Venice, Orange County and San Diego. Cameron also produces tracks with the ultimate goal of creating soundtracks and scoring films, movies and commercials. If music tickles your fancy, so will Cameron... Matthew’s taste is darker, Jake likes it bouncy. Their shows consist of spinning single tracks back to back, letting the flow of the set be determined by who spins the first track. The sound builds and grows. One bass line develops into a layered depth of sound, ornate yet simple and stripped down. Moving through an entire spectrum of minimal-techno genres during a set, Delinquent Frequency improvises new sound structures that groove you down to the bone. Prepare for some intricate chopped up beats paired with random bubbly synth strikes that will make your bowels quiver; with driving, rolling percussive elements that you can’t help but shuffle your feet to. A unique style of dark bounce paired with smooth progressive layer mixing is guaranteed to turn you Delinquent. His first single, entitled "Confession" was released worldwide on Bro.kn Records in summer of 2008 to high acclaim, and is now available at iTunes and Amazon.com. Kent's sound is a soulful blend of funky, dirty tech-house and techno, the connective thread being the elusive element of groove. Nine years of experience in the ultra-competitive L.A. market are rife with milestones and noteworthy performances alongside John Digweed, Danny Howells, Lee Burridge, Gabriel and Dresden, Hernan Cattaneo, Ferry Corsten, and many more. As a member of Los Angeles-based DJ collective Music Savages, who have become notorious for their eclectic taste and decadent mustache parties, Kent enjoys a successful bi-weekly residency at Avalon Hollywood. You may not recognize Kent on sight, but you will definitely hear him. A self-taught audio engineer and a lifelong musician, Kent has worked in two of Los Angeles' most revered recording studios, Ocean Way and Record One, where he gained the knowledge to create the sounds of tomorrow. With brand-new, original productions set to be released throughout 2010, Kent Christian is at the forefront of the rhythmic movement, pushing and playing nothing but "great music." Since 2006, Parker has played at all the usual L.A. spots - Avalon, Vanguard, Circus, Joseph's, Canteen, King King and various other parties. He always shows care and delicacy with his mixing & track selection. His style can be characterized as an energetic blend of techno and house that sometimes breaches into progressive and seeps into minimal. His marquis sets have been at the Vanguard, Avalon, Shine in San Francisco for NYE 2008, and in Miami WMC at Nikki Beach with the likes of M.A.N.D.Y., Chris Lake, Second Sun, Luke Fair, Stanton Warriors and Paulo Mojo. Parker loves to make people dance, smile and have the time of their lives. His philosophy in joining Music Savages is to promote great dance music, throw the best parties and show people new and incredible music... #018 | July 1st, 2010: Joe Rodriguez & Stefano Noferini Jul 01, 2010
    Show notes

Click the post for details on this episode! We are back for another exciting edition of Open House. This episode is round two of our LA/Italy team up, for two hours of quality deep, funk, tribal, tech and progressive. This time around is Joe Rodriguez, one of my long time favorites, and the Italian powerhouse, Stefano Noferini. Joe Rodriguez D.J., art curator, artist, skateboarder, these elements combine to form his sounds, never being described as a one sound D.J. His sets span the globe and incorporate many genres to weave out a path of dirty disco, techno, and house along with elements of the weird and downright strange. Carving out a niche that has spanned his 15 year D.J. career, the Gravy, Spectrum, Slobb Disko along with F.A.M.I.L.Y. and Friends parties have solidified him as a welcome addition to any lineup from the dirty warehouses of Los Angeles to the lofts of New York City to the Chinatown area of Honolulu, Hawaii. Underground is his forte. He was the first person I ever saw play quality house music, a true inspiration. This Open House set was mixed with all vinyl... He’s also the founder of Deeperfect Records, widely recognized as a label dedicated to quality house music... And many of his productions have been supported by and released on solid international labels like Cr2 and Stealth Records - Roger Sanchez’s much lauded label. Stefano is also an internationally recognised DJ and is always in demand, regularly playing the world’s best events to thousands of people such as at Tribal Gathering, Energy, May Day, Love Parade and Eurofestival. He has also wowed some of the most clued up venues in dance music, such as Pacha, Amnesia, Privilege El Divino and Space in Ibiza as well as BCM in Palma De Mallorca, Ambassada Gavioli in Slovenija, Colossos in Lloret De Mar, The Egg in London, Space in Mykonos, Zinc in Dubai , Cocoon Lounge in Bahrain, Level Lounge in Abu Dhabi, Diesel e Medieval Club in Romania, New Chic in Portugal, Tresor in Berlin and many more. As you have read, he’s an artist who is fully submerged in the dance scene, and, as a result, knows better than anyone how to work a floor, how to make a killer track. He is, then, more than worthy of your attention. He’s also the founder of Deeperfect Records, a label which has had success with the likes of “Till You Come Back” - finished with the powerful voice of Payton - and “I Don’t Want You Anymore” as well as with tracks like “Sex”, “Destination” and “Dollars”. Such success demonstrates his ear for a great record, something which has helped him when in the studio... In recent months Stefano’s sounds have gone back to his roots and he’s re-discovering the tribal influences of his past. The stunning results are “Burundi” - a track which immediately sold well and hit the Top Ten of Beatport’s Main Chart and is a crossover house hit with groove which gets played by all the top international DJs, regardless of their genre. Many of his productions have been supported by and released on solid international labels like Cr2 who recently put out “Beautiful Life” (a track produced with Deborah French and Cozi Costi), and Stealth Records - Roger Sanchez’s much lauded label. Stefano’s Club Edition radio show is broadcast in more than 15 countries around the world (www.clubedition.it) and showcases the finest electronic music. The Italian is also a much appreciated remixer and has added his magic touch to tracks from the likes of the legendary Masters At Works, Robbie Rivera, Bigfellas and many more … He’s also had hits with young and talented producer Matteo Marini as “House Music” - most recently their “Push N Pull” track is currently N°1 of Billboard Hot Dance Club beating out heavy weight major label artists such as David Guetta, Shakira, Pitbull, Lady Gaga, and Beyonce! and with his “Cool Summer” track released this year by Loud Bit Records which was N°1 on Beatport’s Main Chart and is one of the site’s best selling tracks of 2009. Of course, Stefano is also an internationally recognised DJ and is always in demand, regularly playing the world’s best events to thousands of people such as at Tribal Gathering, Energy, May Day, Love Parade and Eurofestival. He has also wowed some of the most clued up venues in dance music, such as Pacha, Amnesia, Privilege El Divino and Space in Ibiza as well as BCM in Palma De Mallorca , Ambassada Gavioli in Slovenija, Colossos in Lloret De Mar, The Egg in London, Space in Mykonos , Zinc in Dubai , Cocoon Lounge in Bahrain, Level Lounge in Abu Dhabi, Diesel e Medieval Club in Romania, New Chic in Portugal , Tresor in Berlin and many more. Stefano’s “The Sun” EP arrived early 2010 on one of house music’s freshest labels, Toolroom Records, and was once again another score for the hard working house man. As you have read, he’s an artist who is fully submerged in the dance scene, and, as a result, knows better than anyone how to work a floor, how to make a killer track. He is, then, more than worthy of your attention.
