237: Human Design to Live Your Fullest Expression of Life with Erin Claire Jones Feb 12, 2021
    Show notes

Erin is a leadership coach, specializing in Human Design. Erin uses Human Design to help thousands of individuals and companies step into their work and their lives as their truest selves and to their highest potential. Her work as a guide, coach, and speaker has attracted a growing community of over 60,000 people who turn to her teachings for practical tools, digestible tips, and deeper self-knowledge they can access to live with greater ease and authenticity every single day. Erin's insights are highly sought-after because she makes Human Design pragmatic, tangible, accessible — and immediately applicable to everyday life (which was my favorite part of today's conversation). Human Design is a synthesis of ancient wisdom and modern science that sheds light on a person's energetic makeup, as well as specific tools you can use to live at your happiest, healthiest, highest potential. It doesn't change who you are; it teaches you who you are. It offers insight into what's possible, and highlights the significance of understanding and living as the fullest expression of yourself.

Erin's intention is to show the world a new way of work, a new path toward success, and a new perspective on living as you truly are. This may be a new topic for you, so I encourage you to listen with curiosity and openness. As always, take what parts resonate for you and leave the rest. This doesn't have to define you, it can be simply a way to better understand yourself!

    In this episode we discuss:

    • Erin's work as a leadership coach specializing in human design and what inspired her to specialize in this work.
    • An easy to understand break down of what exactly is human design.
    • The 5 types of human design, and the strengths and weaknesses of each.
    • Human design is meant to help you can reach your highest potential, Erin gives us examples of how this can work with human design, and how it is meant to empower you, not limit you.
    • How Erin practices wellness without obsession.

You can learn more about Erin with her website here and Instagram here. You can use the code NOURISH to give 10% off your blueprint for human design!

233: James Rose on the Intersection of Gender Identity and Eating Disorders Jan 29, 2021
    Show notes

Today's conversation is one of the most important episodes we have had on the show to date! I had the honor of having James Rose on the podcast to discuss the intersection of gender identity and eating disorders. Body dysmorphia and eating disorders are an extremely prevalent issue within the trans and non-binary community, yet it is so rarely discussed and further perpetuates the stereotype that only white, thin cis-gendered women struggle with eating disorders.

James Rose (they/them) is a non-binary New York City based actor, Health at Every Size Personal Trainer, trauma-informed yoga teacher, and co-host of the Full Soul Nutrition Podcast. They write about gender, eating disorder recovery, sex, their feelings, & their exes on their Instagram (@jamesissmiling) where they hope to leave the internet a little bit better than they found it.

    In this episode we discuss:

    • James' story and what led James to be passionate about acting, personal training, yoga and eating disorder recovery.
    • James shares their experience coming out as non-binary, and how this was different than their sexual identity coming out experience.
    • Differences between gender identity, gender expression and gender assigned at birth.
    • How gender identity intersects with eating disorders and the ability to receive help.
    • Trans + non-binary people experiences with both gender dysphorhia and body dysmorphia, and how this connects to eating disorders.
    • Transphobia is completely preventable, learn steps we should all be taking to prevent transphobia.

    232: 2020 Reflections + 2021 Intentions Jan 26, 2021
    Show notes

I think we are ALL in agreement that we are so glad 2020 is over. Wow, what a year. In this episode I'll give you my honest and raw reflections on 2020, and how I want to show up for myself, my family and my business in 2021.

2020 was a weird year for me. In so many ways I felt stuck inside (literally and figuratively), in my head. Questioning my choices. Numbing more than I am used to, particularly with social media and watching just about every show on Netflix and re-watching the Office and Parks and Rec too many times to count. And I also had a good year in many ways, too. All the questioning and digging with myself about who I was and what my business stood for, finally paid off when I began to feel more CLEAR on who/what I am/do more than ever.

I think this year would have felt much, much shitter had I not consistently be experiencing such gratitude. Listen to today's episode to learn what I felt so grateful for, how I feel going into 2021 and my word for 2021. I'm excited to be open and honest with you about myself and my life in this episode, be sure to come over to Instagram and tell me what resonated with you!

    Show notes

Today we have on the show, author of the Invisible Corset (now available for purchase!) and body connection coach. In this episode, Lauren shares the invisible corset is a set of culturally-inherited beliefs that make women as restricted and uncomfortable in their bodies as traditional corsets did. Wearing the invisible corset, women fear, dominate, disconnect, mechanize and coerce our bodies. • We discuss Lauren's definition of the invisible corset and specific examples of the invisible corset in our lives.
    • Lauren takes us through the different feminist movements and how the marketing messages of the day were promoted to challenge them and how now, the 'problem with no name' still exists.
    • What happens when we take off the corset, and how do we end the cycle of female body hate.
    • How the current body positive movement misses the mark in this work of taking off the invisible corset

230: New Year's Resolutions Are Perfectionist Fantasies with Kara Loewentheil Jan 15, 2021
    Show notes

Hello my fellow recovering perfectionists! You are going to love today's conversation, with guest Kara Loewentheil, about how to truly create self confidence by rewiring your brain and thoughts, and letting go of perfectionist fantasies around New Year's resolutions.

Kara Loewentheil, J.D., is a Master Certified Coach, Host of the top-rated podcast UnF*ck Your Brain, and creator of The Clutch: A feminist mindset revolution. A graduate of Yale College and Harvard Law School, she did what every Ivy League feminist lawyer should do: Quit a prestigious academic career to become a life coach! Her Jewish parents have almost recovered; the fact that she built her business from zero to seven figures in three years didn't hurt. Five years after leaving the law she has taught thousands of women how to identify the ways that sexist socialization impacts their brains, and how to literally rewire their thought patterns to create true authentic confidence from within.

Her podcast, UnF*ck Your Brain, which combines evolutionary biology, cognitive psychology, and feminist theory in concrete and practical teachings and tools, has more than 12 million downloads. In 2019 she launched The Clutch, a feminist coaching community aimed at spreading the feminist mindset revolution across the globe. Since then thousands of women have joined and learned how to overcome insecurity, anxiety, imposter syndrome, people-pleasing, and their dependence on external validation. Kara specializes in teaching a step-by-step system that identifies and removes internalized oppression and creates new and unshakeable self-confidence.
