    Show notes

Today, Brody sat down with Steve Finn, a long-time friend of Brody and Snowbird. Steve shared his life story and testimony of how the Lord saved him and pushed him to start Chestnut Mountain Ranch. The Lord gave him a Gospel-driven vision for law enforcement and his career as a police officer. There, he experienced the darkness of humanity, yet a person who is rooted in the Gospel will be stable even when dealing with evil.

God will equip you for the work He’s calling you to. Steve later started a boys’ home program called Chestnut Mountain Ranch, where boys learn life skills and Gospel truths. CMR has been life-changing for many boys. Listen to be challenged and encouraged.

What Fear in the Life of a Believer Should Look Like May 03, 2021
    Show notes

Fear is all around us. The world is fallen and broken; and we need to combat our fears with prayer and Scripture. Prayer must be a consistent part of our lives. Today Brody discusses how believers can use prayer to combat fear. Unhealthy fears attack us when we’re not seeking the Lord through prayer. The Lord uses prayer to stabilize us with confidence in tough circumstances.
Good fear should motivate you to the right kind of action. Prayer lessens our fear in the things of this world and grows our trust in God. Are you feeding yourself with things that grow your faith? Christian, don’t live in fear.

What Prayer in the Life of a Believer Should Look Like Apr 26, 2021
    Show notes

Most Christians would admit that their prayer life isn’t what they want it to be. Prayer is a great gift that allows us to communicate with the Almighty God. As a result we should hold a high view of prayer in our lives and communicate with God daily. In this episode, Brody walks through Daniel’s prayer of confession for himself and his people.

Daniel shows us a picture of what Biblical confession looks like. He interceded for the sins of his nation, but we have a better intercessor than Daniel. We have Christ. Let’s be people of prayer, confessing who we are, who He is, and petitioning to His sovereign mercy.

No Sanity Stories | Surviving a Grizzly Attack Apr 19, 2021
    Show notes

In today’s podcast, Brody sits down with Bruce Crocker, who recently worked in the maintenance department here at Snowbird. Bruce shares his testimony of how the Lord used a bear attack in Alaska to draw him and his brother closer to Himself. Even as Bruce suffered 3 broken ribs and a break in his calf and thigh, God’s hand was evident in his life. God uses experiences like this in our lives to bring us closer to Him and make Himself known to us. Listen to hear this story of survival and God’s sovereignty in uncontrollable circumstances.

Proclaim the Gospel Knowing That Only God can Save Apr 12, 2021
    Show notes

Sharing the Gospel can be scary and tough to do. But it’s our responsibility and joy to be faithful to share the hope we have. If we don’t actually trust that it’s able to save souls, then we won’t share. We share the Gospel as both an act of obedience and to make much of Jesus. We need to look for opportunities to share but we can rest in knowing that it’s the Lord who is going to save. We are just the messengers.

Live a life that faithfully and consistently brings attention to the Lord. God will use your faithfulness—but not in the timing you think He will. The message that we have is the greatest that's been given. Share out of a love for those around you and be confident that the Lord is working through your obedience.

The Unlawful Trial of Jesus Apr 04, 2021
    Show notes

Happy Resurrection Sunday! The grave is empty. Hell and sin are defeated. Our worldly flesh has been defeated by Jesus’ work at the Cross and power over the grave! Christian, we have so much to be thankful for. The Resurrection of Jesus is what makes the Gospel central to how we work, parent, and combat a secular worldview.

From the beginning, in the Garden of Eden, Satan has been offering counterfeit options to the truth. The world system is coming after Christians, but we should not be surprised by this. Just like Jesus promised, the world hates him and they will hate you. We should expect it and trust our Lord in the middle of it.

Did Jesus really deserve to die?

Luke 22-23 covers the unlawful accusation and trial of Jesus in detail. Read Pilate’s words:

“Then Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowds, ‘I find no guilt in this man.’” (Luke 23:4)

    Pilate

Jesus was unjustly punished in the name of justice—for the sake of pleasing crowds and unifying politicians. In reality, the Resurrection proved that Jesus is who He says He is.

Innocent God died in the place of wicked man. Christ Jesus became the substitution and atonement for our sin. This is the Gospel! Jesus stood in our place—the sinless and spotless Lamb of God.

The world gradually inches towards alliance and compliance with the work of Satan in every generation. The world will constantly push back against what Jesus is doing in one way or another. The Jews wanted Jesus silenced, they wanted Him dead and Pilate inched towards compliance. Ultimately, they won Pilate over.

    Caiaphas was on trial.

    The crowd was on trial.

    Our sin was on trial.

    Jesus is in command.

Jesus paid the price and conquered sin by the power of his holiness.

So, today we celebrate. He conquered sin so that we won’t have to face the same punishment. He died in our place so that we are able to stand righteous before a holy God—made righteous based on the work and merit of Jesus. Romans 10 promises that we have freedom because of Him.

Bask in the glory of what Jesus has done. Look forward to an eternity where justice rules and reigns.

Peace, mercy, hope, and grace will prevail.

No Sanity Stories | A Faithful Church in the Wake of Trauma Mar 29, 2021
    Show notes

In today’s episode, Brody sits down with Courtney Seifert, a current Snowbird staff member. Courtney shares her story of how the Lord preserved her in the midst of her family collapsing. She shares the collateral damage and consequences that resulted from her Dad’s past sins. The Lord graciously placed a local church body in her life to lean on and encourage her throughout the hardships. The church was there to remind her that she was not alone.

As Christians, we can look at all the suffering in our lives and know that the Lord is working all those things for our good and His glory. Listen to hear about the Lord’s constant presence throughout Courtney’s life and how we can learn to love those around us who are also experiencing trauma or lingering effects of someone’s sin.

Living Lives of Balance Mar 23, 2021
    Show notes

It’s important to recognize and have conversations about our nation's dark past. Instead of erasing history we need to remember it and learn from it. In this episode Brody discusses the balance of remembering the sins of our nation while recognizing God’s sovereignty in it. As a nation, we’ve got a long way to go, but we’ve also come a long way. This world needs Jesus. Let’s remember the milestones in our history while having a Gospel perspective towards our future. The Gospel is the only hope for all people.

    A Parent's Role in Their Child's Faith (Ft. Moses's Salvation Story) Mar 15, 2021
    Show notes

In this episode, Brody celebrates the recent salvation of his youngest son, Moses! Their family has been praying for years that Mo would come to understand His need for the Gospel. Parents, don’t think your kids are too young to understand the Gospel. However, we also need to be careful not to nudge our children to make a decision they don’t understand yet. In light of all this Brody discusses a parents role in their child’s faith.

Samuel is an example of a young believer who increased in wisdom and knowledge despite his youth. Shepherd your children into a knowledge of God by teaching them the commandments of Scripture. Jesus also calls children to follow Him. Let’s raise our sons and daughters in a manner that is Gospel saturated and points them to Jesus.

Submitting to the Authority of Scripture Mar 08, 2021
    Show notes

When culture changes, do we change with it? Do we adapt the Bible to fit the fleeting trends of society? No, as believers, we conform only to the image of Jesus and we hold to the consistency of Scripture. We hold to principles and values that the world doesn’t. In this episode, Brody looks at the authority of Scripture and how it pertains to our lives.
God is not capable of lying, so He’s not capable of error. We know that the Word of God is true because God is true. Scripture reflects and reveals the attributes of God as we know them and gives definition to them. It is full of stories and commands that show us how to live our lives.
We need the Word of God everyday. We need to approach it with a heart of humility and submission, not one of argument or rebellion. It deals with the eternal condition of our souls, and we are to be mastered by it.
