Nelson Peltz, an investor with Trian Partners, is angling to flip two board seats at the entertainment giant. In an interview with the Financial Times, Peltz was quoted saying, “Why do I have to have a Marvel [movie] that’s all women? Not that I have anything against women, but why do I have to do that? Why can’t I have Marvels that are both? Why do I need an all-Black cast?” These incendiary comments don’t come as a surprise upon the knowledge that former Marvel Entertainment boss Ike Perlmutter owns 79% of Trian Partners’ $3.5 billion of Disney stock. The dynasty of House of the Dragon will continue in season two and viewers got a taste last Thursday when competing trailers dropped for the show. Lucasfilm released the first trailer for their upcoming live action Star Wars series titled The Acolyte. The show will premiere with two episodes on June 4. Though the trailer is a little more than a minute long, it doesn’t show its hand too much other than to imply that someone - or something - is hunting and killing Jedi.

Marvel Studios head of streaming, television, and animation, Brad Winderbaum, confirmed that the character of Richard Rider/Nova has a project in development. Winderbaum qualified the statement by saying that Marvel Studios is running more like a traditional tv studio and that things can change.

Director Patty Jenkins revealed that she is back on board to helm the Rogue Squadron movie after making a new deal with Lucasfilm. Originally announced back in 2020, the project has shifted around due to changes with Jenkins, the potential of it being made into a television show, and more. Jenkins has long wanted to make what she calls a fighter pilot movie for Star Wars

DC Studios is going all-in on Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow writer Ana Nogueira who will also pen the live-action adaptation of Teen Titans. While the original Teen Titans were introduced in the 1960s in DC Comics, the characters have grown and expanded and found a popular audience with the animated show Teen Titans Go! on Cartoon Network.

Venom 3 is officially titled Venom: The Last Dance and the release date for the film has scootched up from November 8 to October 25.

Ari Aster has assembled an all-star cast for his next film Eddington, which began production last week. Joaquin Phoenix, Pedro Pascal, Emma Stone, and Austin Butler are set to star in the A24 feature.

In April 2023, Variety reported that a Twilight series was in early development. Last week, Lionsgate Vice Chairman Michael Burns confirmed that the project is currently being shopped and that it has shifted to an animated series.

New Line's adaptation of Stephen King's Salem's Lot has been removed from Warner Brothers theatrical release schedule and will now debut on Max sometime later this year. It and Annabelle writer Gary Dauberman wrote and directed the film, which has been in flux since the Warner Brothers and Discovery merger.

Netflix anthology series Black Mirror will return in 2025 with six new episodes including a sequel to the sci-fi adventure episode, USS Callister.

FX's The Bear has quietly been renewed for a fourth season, which will film back to back with the third season.

Andy and Barbara Muschietti, the filmmaking team behind the $1 billion grossing It movies and last year’s The Flash, have teamed up with Skydance to launch a brand new horror division, named Nocturna. The Muschiettis will co-own the label and run its creative direction.

AMC picked up rights to all four seasons of the post-apocalyptic drama Snowpiercer, including the completed but never aired fourth season. The first three seasons will begin streaming on AMC+ later this year, with the final season set to premiere on both AMC and AMC+ in early 2025.

Deadpool Reshoots? Peacemaker's DCU Canon Status - Multiverse News 3.13.24 Mar 13, 2024
    Show notes

Welcome to Multiverse News, Your one-stop-shop for Info about all your favorite fandoms.

Vetted scooper with an accuracy rating of nearly 80%, DanielRPK has supplied us with another MCU rumor this week, claiming that Deadpool & Wolverine will undergo reshoots in May ahead of its July release. Reshoots are a normal part of any production, but with Deadpool being Marvel Studios’ sole feature film of 2024 and these taking place so close to the film’s release, do they give us cause for concern, or excitement?

James Gunn’s recent social media comments attempting to clarify Peacemaker’s status in the DCU canon, may have had the opposite effect. While addressing fan questions on Threads, the filmmaker stated that the first season of the John Cena led Max series is not canon and that the second season would take place after the events of Superman, going as far to confirm that movie’s events would have an impact on the show. Are we able to make peace with these somewhat contradictory revelations? Netflix has renewed the live action adaptation series of Avatar: The Last Airbender for two more seasons, with the series set to end at the conclusion of season 3. While we have 2 Avatar aficionados on the panel, we’d figured we’d open up the floor to discuss the series, its source material and future. Who’s saying, ‘yip, yip!’, ?

Another Hollywood strike may be just around the corner, as the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) and major Hollywood studios have begun negotiations for a new contract. Similar to last year’s WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, the primary focuses include wage increases, contract enforcement, "quality of life" aspects, and protections against emerging technologies, including AI. The current contract expires on July 31, potentially leading to a strike if an agreement is not reached in the coming months. Are we clutching our pearls yet?

It’s been nearly 25 years since a new category was announced - the last one being Best Animated Feature Film in 2001. A joint statement from the Academy Casting Director Branch governors expressed appreciation for the acknowledgment and recognition for casting directors. Official rules will be announced in April 2025 and films of that year will be the first ones considered for the award.
