Kyrie Irving was back on the court after an eight-game suspension and the Brooklyn Nets took down a depleted Memphis Grizzlies team 127-115. While things were mostly on the quiet side for Kyrie, the real story here was Ben Simmons who played another great game following a breakout performance against the Blazers last Thursday.

In this one, starting for Nic Claxton, Simmons went for 22 points, eight rebounds, and five assists in the win. Doug Norrie breaks down the game, what it means to have Kyrie Irving back and Ben Simmons looking like the player of old. Plus Kevin Durant, Yuta Watanabe’s shooting and much more.

What a win! Kevin Durant and Ben Simmons lead the Nets in a full team effort over Blazers Nov 18, 2022
    Show notes

What a win by the Brooklyn Nets who get a Royce O’Neale tip-in with just a second left to put the game away and walk out of Portland with a win. Kevin Durant scored 35 points, leading the way, but this was a full team effort with everyone playing some of their best basketball of the season.

Ben Simmons looked like the version the Nets thought they were getting in the James Harden trade, putting it together on both ends of the court for his best play of the season.

And the aforementioned O’Neale had a triple-double of his own. Plus, Yuta Watanabe went 5-7 from beyond the arc and finished with 20 points. It was all there for the Nets in a big win over the Blazers.

It was a big day of Nets news despite the team not even playing. First it was reported that Kyrie Irving could be close to returning to the team as early as Sunday when they play the Grizzlies. From a basketball perspective, the team desperately needs him back in the mix. And then there was a piece written about Kevin Durant and how he views his trade request from back in the summer and what he is looking for in terms of legacy on the court.

Finally, there was an article about Ben Simmons that expressed a possible growing frustration within the team about his performance this season. The Locked on Nets guys break down all of the situations and what they mean for the Brooklyn Nets going forward.

Nets get completely embarrassed by the Kings. Is it time to fully panic? Nov 16, 2022
    Show notes

The Nets rolled into Sacramento to face the Kings on Tuesday and promptly got destroyed in every facet of the game. It was a terrible loss, 153-121 in a game that highlighted almost every major problem from the team. Kevin Durant played too many minutes in the blowout, they couldn’t stop anyone on the interior, the offense looked sloppy, threes didn’t drop and the offense looked disjointed. The Locked on Nets guys take a look at the game, and how it sums up some larger questions and issues for this team.

Nets lose bad to Lakers, but beat the Clippers. Is that good enough for Brooklyn? Nov 14, 2022
    Show notes

The Nets won a good one on Saturday against the Los Angeles Clippers, once again holding an opponent under 100 points and turning in a full-team performance. But on the back-to-back Brooklyn looked sluggish and out of sorts against the Lakers on Sunday, losing to a Lebron James-less team and really never looking in sync. Without Seth Curry and Ben Simmons, as well as Kyrie Irving who remains suspended, Kevin Durant and company got close in the third quarter, but couldn’t get over the hump and eventually fell 116-103. The Locked on Nets guys talk about both weekend games and the takeaways, positive and negative from the performances.

Why Nic Claxton is making a case for the NBA's Most Improved Player Nov 11, 2022
    Show notes

The Locked on Nets guys dive into Nic Claxton’s season so far and see where he ranks among the NBA’s best big men in the stats department. He’s been excellent, finally getting a full starting nod and is backing it up with some of the best numbers in the game. The guys look at his early case for Most Improved Player and why this is happening for the Nets center who was brought back on a two-year contract in the off-season.

They discuss where he ranks in FG%, rebounding, blocks, defensive metrics, on/off stats and much more.

Kevin Durant shines and the Nets crush the Knicks in Crosstown rivalry Nov 10, 2022
    Show notes

Kevin Durant led the Nets with an outstanding performance, putting up 20 points, 12 rebounds, and 12 assists in a blowout win over the Knicks on Wednesday. It was a complete performance by the Nets who took an early lead and never looked back. They ended up on the right side of the 112-85 blowout. Durant was the catalyst but Seth Curry also had a big game with 23 points off the bench and Edmond Sumner added 18 points of his own. The Nets have looked like a very different team and the Locked on Nets guys are taking a look at the differences.

Matt Brooks from Nets Daily talks Ime Udoka, Kyrie Irving and the state of the Brooklyn Nets Nov 09, 2022
    Show notes

Adam Armbrecht welcomes friend of the podcast Matt Brooks to talk all things Brooklyn Nets basketball. Recorded on Monday afternoon following back-to-back wins, Matt and Adam look at the key talking points off the court for Brooklyn.

First, in what seemed like an all but "done deal" the ime Udoka hiring took big steps back over the past week. Matt Brooks outlines the reporting from key NBA voices and how the Nets inexplicably failed to see the potential blow back in hiring a coach with his own controversy.

Adam also highlights the six-point process the Nets have in place for Kyrie Irving to successfully return to the team - but the question remains, is he willing to do what the organization requires? Beyond the needs or wants, Matt Brooks also looks at what would be best for the team overall which includes the potential trade of Kevin Durant if not now than by the deadline or off-season.

Lastly, as is the case with the team, Adam and Matt discuss the team on the floor. Matt notes that Royce O'Neal, while a nice addition, is not a simple one-to-one replacement for Bruce Brown. The chang over to Jacque Vaughn brought the immediate insertion of Cam Thomas to the rotation which has the guys looking at how the interim head coach has performed and which players(if still on the roster) could shine across the 2022 season.

Brooklyn Nets battle, but fall to Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks Nov 08, 2022
    Show notes

The Nets two game winning streak came to an end in Dallas as the Mavericks held off the late surge from Kevin Durant and Brooklyn. Adam Armbrecht discusses the late free throw miss that cost the Nets a second overtime game against the Mavs and how key contributions from Joe Harris, Royce O'neal and Cam Thomas helped the Nets overcome a 10 point 4th quarter deficit.

Adam also looks at the impact of Yuta Watanabe's injury on this particular game and the return to the court for Ben Simmons - what has(and has not) worked for the Center in Brooklyn.
