Nets get right, win two over the weekend Nov 01, 2021
    Show notes

The Nets come away with a win over the Pistons on Sunday and go 2-0 over the weekend to get to 4-3 on the season. After reminding Nets fans not to panic on Friday’s episode, Adam Armbrecht and Doug Norrie discuss how much of what they discussed came to fruition over the weekend. James Harden looked very much like James Harden again, getting to line 19 times against the Pacers and staying fully in control against the Pistons. Brooklyn was even able to weather a Kevin Durant ejection in the win over Detroit.

Plus they talk about the play of LaMarcus Aldridge who has seemed to hit nearly every shot he’s taken in the last couple of games. He’s been the key to the Nets bench in the last few, stemming the tide while a superstar sits and offering a perfect safety valve for their offense. It’s all here on a packed Brooklyn Nets podcast.

Then they talk about some easy rotations and lineup switches Steve Nash and company can make to cure a few problems. It’s a wide-ranging discussion about the season and some things that the Nets should be correcting in the short term.

Nets get frustrated early, struggle to score and lose to the Miami Heat Oct 28, 2021
    Show notes

The Nets lost a tough one to the Miami Heat on Wednesday night, going down 106-93 at home. It was a game that started off frustrating for Brooklyn early with some questionable non-calls from the refereeing crew. Though it would be easy to look at that as the only reason for the loss, there were other issues at play.

The Nets struggled to score, finding it tough to get into their offense in any meaningful way, and were once again held under 100 points. The Nets averaged more than 118 points a game last season. This year it’s just 102 and there are obvious issues here. The guys break down the game, some of the different lineups, what were the main issues and more.

It follows along with some of the discussion the guys had the episode prior about Harden’s struggles this year.

Then they talk about some of the role player contributions, or lack thereof from the Nets’ non-superstars. They discuss some early season net rating stats along with best and worst lineup combinations.

Kevin Durant is in MVP form, Nets pull to 2-2 in win over Wizards Oct 26, 2021
    Show notes

The Brooklyn Nets get a relatively easy win over the Washington Wizards on Monday, the second half of a back-to-back following the loss to the Hornets on Sunday. It was, once again, all about Kevin Durant in this one with the Nets’ superstar already in MVP form this season. He carried Brooklyn once again, making up for a relatively poor shooting performance from the team across the board. Adam Armbrecht and Doug Norrie talk about what Durant has already done this season and why he is putting himself near the top of the MVP discussion even only a few games in.

They also talk about the continued struggles for James Harden who is clearly still working his way back from injury in the offseason. All of this and more on a packed podcast.

Nets waste a fantastic Kevin Durant performance in loss to the Hornets Oct 25, 2021
    Show notes

Following an awesome come-from-behind victory on Friday over the Philadelphia 76ers, the Nets struggled to maintain their lead against the Hornets and ultimately let a very bad 4th quarter do them in. They lost 111-95 in what amounted to another sloppy game from Brooklyn. Kevin Durant was masterful again, dropping 38 points. But the rest of the team shot just 33% behind him and as a squad, they committed 17 turnovers. The Hornets have been feisty, but this was a rough loss for the Nets. Doug Norrie discusses some of the issues, including the play of James Harden this early in the season and the different rotations the team has run.

Embiid has given the Nets fits in the past and this game might be no different. There’s talk about how the Nets plan to stop or even slow down Embiid and if the starting lineup might change once again for Brooklyn. Will the Nets continue to tinker with lineups and rotations with this game representing another difficult matchup for the personnel that they have. And what does Brooklyn need to work on behind Kevin Durant and James Harden in order to make up for some of the weaker parts of their lineups? It’s all here on a packed Friday podcast.

There is very much a sense that it is going to be a work in progress at least to start the season. And then the guys get into some of the lineup decisions from Steve Nash and company. They discuss the starting lineup choice to pair Nicolas Claxton and Blake Griffin, what worked and what didn’t. Then they talk about the LaMarcus Aldridge and Paul Millsap pairing in the first rotation as well.

Kevin Durant drops 32 but Nets look out of sync in loss to Bucks Oct 20, 2021
    Show notes

The Brooklyn Nets took the court for their first regular-season game of the year against the Milwaukee Bucks had a rough go of it. On paper, Kevin Durant and James Harden had strong games with the latter dropping 32 points and the latter nearly hitting a triple-double. But the game was a sloppy one for the Nets who looked out of sync throughout. They struggled to keep Giannis Antetokounmpo and company off the offensive boards and had untimely turnovers as well. There is a lot to break down from this first game including things that can be improved on this coming season for the Nets.
