The Locked on Nets guys take a look back at the first preseason game of the year against the Lakers for other takeaways. After gushing over the rookies like Cam Thomas in the first game, this time they focus on the veterans who started the game. The first standout was Bruce Brown who already showed some improvement in his game, handling the ball more and even stepping out for a couple of threes early. If he has made major improvements in the offseason then he is ready for a bigger role with the team.

Plus, we got our first look at Paul Millsap in a Nets' uniform. It's exciting to think about what he will bring to the team both in a screen-setting role as well as on the boards.

Nets are back! Big 3 sit but Cam Thomas and Nets’ rookies shine Oct 04, 2021

The Brooklyn Nets were back in action with their first preseason game of the season, facing off against the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday. Both teams mostly sat the key players with Kevin Durant, James Harden, Kyrie Irving, and many others in street clothes for this one. But we did get a healthy dose of the Nets rookies and they looked good across the board. The real story was Cam Thomas carrying over his Summer League performance to an NBA court. He finished with a game-high 21 points on 7-14 from the field and 6-7 from the line. He is already looking like one of the steals of the draft if he’s able to keep this up. The guys look at Thomas but also rookies like David Duke and Kessler Edwards too. It’s a packed podcast and awesome to have NBA action back in our lives.

Joe Tsai sends message to Kyrie Irving heading into season Oct 01, 2021

Brooklyn Nets owner Joe Tsai had some pointed words regarding the status of Kyrie Irving heading into the season. Regarding the Nets superstar, Tsai made it very clear where he stood on the situation and what he wanted to have happen prior to the regular season getting underway. Speaking with Brian Lewis of The New York Post, Tsai spoke about the pandemic, but then talked about Kyrie Irving and the expectation that the latter be ready to fully play once the season started. This seemed like a clear message being sent to Irving. It will be interesting to see the response. The Locked on Nets guys discuss the situation, what Tsai said and the impact it could have for the team.

The Brooklyn Nets held Media Day on Monday along with the rest of the NBA. And while we got to see familiar faces like Kevin Durant and James Harden, Kyrie Irving was not in attendance. With speculation that he could not attend because of his vaccine status, the superstar held a private Zoom call for media members. He did not want to talk about protocols or his vaccine status and his availability for home games this season is officially in doubt.
