Kyrie Irving is unstoppable, drops 50 for Nets in must-win against Hornets Mar 09, 2022
    Show notes

In a game the Nets absolutely had to win against the Charlotte Hornets, Kyrie Irving was everyone you could ever want and more. He drops 50 points almost effortlessly and Brooklyn cruised to a win on the road against a team they are battling for the play-in game right now. Even with Kevin Durant taking most of the night off, it didn’t really matter. Seeing that Irving was fully in his bag, the Nets dropped 132 while also shooting better than 50% from three.

The Locked on Nets guys break down the game, Kyrie’s performance, and how special it is to watch him play when he is fully cooking. They talk about Durant’s game and how the foot was off the gas well. It’s a packed podcast with spirits high after a great win.

No panic. The 17 games for the Nets to make the playoffs starts against Charlotte Mar 08, 2022
    Show notes

There are 17 games left in the regular season and this is a critical stretch for the Nets. Currently sitting in 9th in the East, they basically have to make hay over the last month-plus to ensure a high probability of making the playoffs. It starts with Tuesday’s game against the Charlotte Hornets who they are battling for seeding right now. Winning this one would help in the tiebreakers (if needed) at the end of the season. The Locked on Nets guys break down when this end-of-season stretch looks like for the Nets and how the schedule breaks down.

And then they look at the play of Bruce Brown of late and how he’s been able to expand his game even more, becoming a key component in what the Nets are trying to do. His stats have been fantastic and he’s even shot the three well which bodes well for his long-term prospects.

Jayson Tatum out-duels Kevin Durant as the Brooklyn Nets lose fourth straight game Mar 07, 2022
    Show notes

NBA fans were treated to a superstar showdown on Sunday afternoon as Kevin Durant went toe-to-toe with Jayson Tatum up in Boston. Unfortunately for Nets fans, Tatum's 54 point performance brought a fourth straight loss for Brooklyn. Adam and Doug hop on to talk the playoff level energy and how this was a coin-flip game that the Nets came out on the wrong side of. The playoff picture continues to grow more and more concerning with just 18 games remaining as the Nets dropped to ninth in the standings.

The guys also discuss takeaways from seeing Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving out on the floor with(nearly) the full supporting cast. There continues to be concerns around the bigs, with a lack of consistency on game to game basis. While the arrival of Ben Simmons is closer than ever, the pressure to win games and secure a playoff spot is looms large with every passing game.

Kevin Durant returns, but the Nets lose a brutal one to the Heat Mar 04, 2022
    Show notes

Kevin Durant finally returned for the Brooklyn and got his first game action since going down with the knee injury on January 15th. And things were definitely humming early for the Nets with the offense cooking, the ball moving and the offense seeming to score at will. It was everything you wanted to see out of this team with arguably the best player in basketball back on the court.

But the game fell away in the third and fourth quarter. The Heat who were without Jimmy Butler, Kyle Lowry, and PJ Tucker stormed all the way back, down 16 at one point, and were able to steal a game in Barclays. The Nets couldn’t solve the zone for the longest time and were too late to make the necessary adjustments. This one really stings. Doug Norrie is breaking it all down on the podcast.

Kevin Durant is back and it couldn't come soon enough for the Nets Mar 03, 2022
    Show notes

Nets fans got the news they’ve been now waiting months to hear: that Kevin Durant is finally returning from the knee injury that sidelined him on January 15th. It couldn’t come soon enough for Brooklyn who have basically been reeling the entire time he has been off the court. He will play against Miami and this could be a critical game for the team as they continue to fight for the play-in spot for the playoffs. It’s unclear what his workload will be for this game, but it’s just good to get him back. The Locked on Nets guys break down what it will mean getting him back, how he works into the current roster, and how some of the rotations could potentially change.

They also talk about the Ben Simmons situation and how he might be facing a setback regarding his timeline.

Love the effort, hate the result. Brooklyn Nets lose tough one in Toronto Mar 02, 2022
    Show notes

The Nets went up to Toronto and the second half of the home and home after getting drubbed in the first, but this time put up much more of a fight. They ended up losing by one (it was more like four) in what could end up being a critical game for them in the standings. In the third quarter, the team was able to pull away some on the back of huge defensive plays from Nic Claxton, Bruce Brown, and more. But they couldn’t keep it going in the fourth and the offense really bogged down.

The Locked on Nets guys break down the game, what it meant for both teams, and the Nets’ overall effort. They also discuss some of the decisions by Jacque Vaughn and a couple of key sequences late that sealed the Nets' fate in this one.

Nets season is a rollercoaster, what can we take away from this game? Mar 01, 2022
    Show notes

After an almost euphoric win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday, the Nets crashed down to Earth some on Monday, getting blown out by the Toronto Raptors at home. It was an ugly loss for Brooklyn who was still without their major stars. But the Raptors were missing some key players as well, making this blowout a bit tougher to stomach. The guys talk about the game and what it means to be on this kind of rollercoaster ride this season.

They talk about the play of Bruce Brown of late and what he’s been bringing to the team. And they also, unfortunately, have to talk about some of Patty Mills’ struggles as well. They cap things off by looking at what James Harden has done in his first two games in Philadelphia.

Electric Kyrie Irving drops 38 as Nets top Bucks! Home games next for Brooklyn star? Feb 28, 2022
    Show notes

The short-handed Brooklyn Nets did the unthinkable, beating the Bucks on the road 126-123. It was an elite performance from Kyrie Irving as he led key scoring runs to keep the Nets in the game early and ultimately bring the win home late. This was not however a one man show. The reconstructed Nets put their full supporting cast on display as Seth Curry continued his hot shooting and Andre Drummond gave a sample of how his physical presence could impact playoff level basketball. Beyond the big win, Goran Dragic also made his nets debut and although brief, his role and ability already seems well in hand.

Finally, Kevin Durant's timeline for return seems closer than ever, and while Ben Simmons back may keep his ramp up on delay, the latest city mandate news should have Nets fans salivating over Kyrie Irving's chance to get back on the court full time.

Back from break, but not much has changed. Nets lose again, crushed by Celtics Feb 25, 2022
    Show notes

The Nets came back from the All-Star Break, but it was a little bit more of the same with this current iteration of the team. They ended up getting crushed by the Boston Celtics in a game that was really never close. It was a struggle early for the Nets to score against one of the top-rated defensive teams in the league, and on the other end of the court, Brooklyn struggled to get stops. This was just another example of the team having to play without its core pieces, and that’s just always going to be tough sledding. In the end, the Nets lose and the play-in game is looking likely. But could there be reason for optimism around some players’ returns?
