The LA Chargers Interview with Jim Harbaugh "Went Well" but Now the Falcons are Entering the Race Jan 17, 2024

Show notes

The Chargers got their first crack at persuading Jim Harbaugh to come to Los Angeles and reportedly the meeting went well which is a huge step in the right direction. It feels like the Chargers are the leaders in the clubhouse, but surprisingly the Falcons also met with the Michigan man. Dan and David discuss how worried they are about Atlanta getting in the race and answer their mailbag questions. Is Harbaugh a lock for the Chargers? The guys also get into how much of a boost LA will get in the draft with Harbaugh's college connections and if they will be Super Bowl contenders if he joins. Hopefully whoever takes over in the front office, they can avoid missing out on players like A.J. Brown, Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk like in past drafts.

Assistant GM Ed Dodds is another interesting candidate with ties to Harbaugh and has also been lauded as one of the NFL's best talent evaluators. The LA Chargers are Interviewing Jim Harbaugh this Week and Must Blow Him Away Jan 15, 2024

Show notes

There has been a TON of smoke surrounding Jim Harbaugh to the Chargers and they will finally meet in person for the first time this week. They likely won't be able to hire him on the spot so they must pull out all of the stops and find a way to make sure he knows Los Angeles is his best landing spot. Dan and David analyze the latest Harbaugh news and if Cowboys owner Jerry Jones could get into the sweepstakes. One name that likely wont be the Chargers head coach is Dan Quinn who was a hot name but cooled off after a disastrous playoff outing. One team that impressed in the Wild Card round was DeMeco Ryans and the Texans. Houston showed with CJ Stroud that if you have a quarterback and the right coach, things can turn around quickly.

Bill Belichick is an All-Time Great but He Is Not the Right Coach for the LA Chargers Jan 12, 2024

Show notes

It seems crazy to think the Chargers wouldn't want a coach the caliber of the Bill Belichick, but there are red flags that are hard to ignore. His track record post Tom Brady is troubling, but his failures on offense and as a general manager make him the wrong fit to handle the future of Justin Herbert. Dan and David discuss the latest moves in the coaching carousel and discuss who their backup plan at coach would be if Jim Harbaugh returns to college. Although his lack of experience is worrisome, Lions OC Ben Johnson would be a great pairing Herbert. The Chargers make one move on the coaching front this week by blocking the Giants from stealing special teams coordinator Ryan Ficken, which was an excellent decision. Los Angeles will have options with the 5th pick in the NFL Draft, but should they take a weapon like Malik Nabers or trade back?

Mike Vrabel is an Excellent Candidate for the LA Chargers | Keenan Allen's Future with the Team Jan 10, 2024

Show notes

Mike Vrabel is surprisingly available to the Chargers after the Titans let him go bringing another big name into the coaching cycle. Vrabel is a very good coach and should be near the top of Los Angeles' list of candidates, but there are some concerns about his offensive philosophies. Dan and David analyze the latest buzz surrounding the coaching hire and buy or sell the biggest Chargers storylines and overreactions. Will Keenan Allen retire a Charger? After one of his best seasons LA should be trying to extend him before letting him walk. Austin Ekeler's time with the team is likely at an end but his time should be appreciated since he's the Chargers best running back since LaDainian Tomlinson.

Jim Harbaugh is a National Champion and the Chargers Must Bring Him in at All Costs Jan 09, 2024

Show notes

Jim Harbaugh has nothing left to prove at the collegiate level after winning the big game, and now the Chargers must persuade him to go back to the NFL. Harbaugh would give Los Angeles an identity and a physicality they have been lacking and has the connections to build a strong staff. Dan and David discuss why they are all in on the Michigan man and get into the other candidates the Chargers have requested to interview. Not only are these other coaches a contingency plan for Harbaugh, but they also can bring valuable insight into some of the league's best teams. Major new come out Monday about Chargers all-pro center Corey Linsley with him announcing he will likely retire. This opens a gaping hole in the offensive line, and they will need the right player and coaches to fill the void.

The Chargers Secure 5th Pick in the 2024 NFL Draft with Loss to the Chiefs Jan 08, 2024

Show notes

The Chargers maximized their draft capitol on Sunday by losing to the Chiefs and wrapped up the most disappointing season in recent history. With a top-5 pick in the NFL Draft, Los Angeles will have a chance to secure an elite offensive option for Justin Herbert. Dan and David analyze the aftermath of the Chargers 13-12 loss to the Chiefs and discuss why they can’t wait to see Herbert back on the field again. The game likely ends the Kellen Moore era in Los Angeles which will go down as a failed experiment. Now the next era begins for the Chargers and all attention turns to finding the best options at head coach and general manager to guide them. One of the top options will be Jim Harbaugh, who could be riding off into the sunset if he wins the National Championship game Monday Night.

Jim Harbaugh to the Chargers is "Gaining Steam" but Could Raiders Get in the Way? Jan 05, 2024

Show notes

The chatter surrounding Jim Harbaugh going to the Chargers is nonstop and reportedly the move is starting to gain steam in league circles. Harbaugh would bring a lot of what Los Angeles is missing, but could the Raiders potentially get in the way of a good thing? Dan and David discuss the latest Harbaugh rumors and also if a generational player like Marvin Harrison Jr. would be worth trading up for. Pairing him with Justin Herbert is enticing but the cost may be too steep. The guys also get into if the Chargers will be in a full rebuild in 2024, and give their predictions for the final game against the Chiefs.

Chiefs Crossover: KC Resting their Starters | Can the Chargers New Head Coach Help Bridge the Gap? Jan 04, 2024

Show notes

The Chiefs may ruin the Chargers plans for a better draft pick on Sunday by resting their starters, but will any of their stars play at all? The most important factor in the future of this rivalry is the Chargers finding the right head coach and general manager to help bridge the gap with Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid. Locked On Chiefs host Chris Clark joins the show for Crossover Thursday looking at the biggest storylines and best matchup. For both of these teams this game represents a chance for young players to get some playing time and for Los Angeles rookie guard Jordan McFadden will try to build off a strong debut. As far as who wins this game, anything can happen with staples of this matchup like Travis Kelce, Keenan Allen and Justin Herbert being sidelined.
