Los Angeles Chargers 6-Round Mock Draft Part 1: Help At Receiver And Safety Early Apr 17, 2023

Show notes

Wide Receiver is a big need for the Los Angeles Chargers, but finding the right receiver in the draft is a must. USC WR Jordan Addison is clearly one of the top options in this class, but is he a better fit than a someone like Marvin Mims who will be available later on? The guys have covered almost every option at pick 21 for the Chargers, but one top prospect that could fall is EDGE Myles Murphy. The Clemson product checks most of the physical boxes that Tom Telesco and Brandon Staley covet, but never showed elite production. Safety is unclear for the Chargers and David finds the electric Sydney Brown to help on the backend. Is his playmaking ability enough to overlook his high missed tackle rate? His teammate Jartavius Martin is a little less explosive but could be a more dependable option in round three.

Don't Sleep On Chargers WR Keenan Allen | Does Mike Williams For DeAndre Hopkins Make Sense? Apr 14, 2023

Show notes

The Los Angeles Chargers need to get the best version of Keenan Allen, and there is good reason to think he could bounce back in a big way in 2023. The guys get into some early bold predictions and whether a Mike Williams for DeAndre Hopkins swap would make sense for the Chargers. Everyone is hoping for the best with Kellen Moore, but is there any way he does so well that he overtakes Brandon Staley? If Moore and Justin Herbert hit it off, he may be more likely to be another team's head coach than the Chargers. Dan and David also discuss if the Chargers could potentially select two tight ends in the upcoming NFL Draft.

Top Tight End Prospects The Los Angeles Chargers Should Target In The 2023 NFL Draft Apr 13, 2023

Show notes

It is very likely the Los Angeles Chargers draft a tight end in 2023, and they will have a pretty deep class to pick from. Dalton Kincaid and Michael Mayer may both be available to the Chargers at 21, but the talent at the position doesn't stop there. Dan and David break down their favorite tight ends in the upcoming draft class and discuss where they could be taken. Darnell Washington would be a dream in round two, but there are other day two talents like Luke Musgrave and Sam LaPorta who are exciting in their own right. The guys also look at some of the Day 3 prospects including one of the most athletic tight ends they have ever seen.

Show notes

Los Angeles Chargers Play-By-Play broadcaster Matt "Money" Smith joins the show to discuss why he thinks that adding more offense must be the teams top priority heading into the draft. Brandon Staley needs to win now and giving more weapons to Justin Herbert and Kellen Moore is the best way to get there. Money also tells the guy why he thinks Herbert and Kellen Moore will be compatible together. With the NFL trending offensively finding a mismatch at tight end has to be on the radar of the Chargers. With the roster being mostly unchanged so far in the offseason the guys get into why just being a bit healthier will make Los Angeles a much better team.

The Chargers Still Trail The Chiefs In West And Broncos Closing In After Quiet Free Agency Apr 11, 2023

Show notes

The Los Angeles Chargers were clearly the second best team in the AFC West last season, but you could argue the Chiefs have gotten worse in the offseason so far. The only problem is the Chargers didn't move the needle in free agency and the Broncos led by Sean Payton seem to have gotten better. Is Sean Payton enough to work around Russell Wilson and make Denver competitive in the West? Dan and David discuss why they think the Broncos are showing a shift to a run-first offense with their free agent signings. The Las Vegas Raiders are trying to turn into the Patriots west after signing Jimmy G and other former New England players. The seem to be going no where fast, but have a ton of draft picks coming up to try and change the narrative.

5-Round Los Angeles Chargers Mock Draft Finding Help At Cornerback And Running Back Early Apr 10, 2023

Show notes

The Chargers have big needs to fill, but in the Draft they could go cornerback in round one if Joey Porter Jr. or Deonte Banks are the best players available. Dan and David go unconventional in today's 5-round Chargers mock draft and discuss some of the top corners and running backs in the draft. If Los Angeles doesn't go Bijan Robinson at pick 21, they could look for another premiere prospect like Alabama's Jahmyr Gibbs or Tulane's Tyjae Spears. Neither are a bell cow back, but both would bring explosiveness to the Chargers offense. Los Angeles could also look for depth on the interior defensive line early with guys like Mazi Smith and Keeanu Benton. The guy also get into some later round sleepers at wide receiver, like the ultra physical Jonathan Mingo.

Chargers Brandon Staley Needs Joey Bosa To Rebound To Improve Ailing Defense After Quiet Free Agency Apr 07, 2023

Show notes

The Los Angeles Chargers defense has struggled under Brandon Staley and it remains mostly unchanged this offseason. If Joey Bosa can stay healthy and return to form, the defense would improve dramatically. The Chargers were elite defensively down the stretch last season, but the wins came against an uninspiring list of quarterbacks. Eric Kendricks is the only new piece so far on the defense and may be a great fit in Staley's scheme. Dan and David also get into how excited they are to see where Derwin James lines up most in 2023. Depth is the biggest question currently on the Los Angeles roster but they did address some concerns by re-signing backup center Will Clapp.

The Los Angeles Chargers Will Win 10+ Games Again In 2023 If They Stay Healthier Apr 06, 2023

Show notes

FanDuel Sportsbook projects the Chargers to win less than 10 games in 2023, but if they are healthy that number is too low. If the Chargers can keep Joey Bosa, Rashawn Slater, Keenan Allen and other key players on the field, back-to-back playoff runs is very much in play. Los Angeles could face a tougher opponents in 2023 with the NFC North and AFC East on the schedule. If Kellen Moore can install the new offense seamlessly and the Chargers hit on draft picks, they should be able to hang with almost anyone. But they are not likely to overtake the Chiefs in the AFC West. Fan Duel thinks the Chargers will finish second place in the west, and the hosts agree that the Raiders and Broncos have more to prove.

Los Angeles Chargers OC Kellen Moore's Rushing Scheme Brings Excitement To Offense Apr 05, 2023

Show notes

The Los Angeles Chargers didn’t make many splashes in free agency but OC Kellen Moore is the biggest offseason addition. He brings the most hope for the Chargers to take their offense to the next level especially with his rushing scheme. The NFL executives spoke anonymously about free agency and yawned at Los Angeles’ moves so far. They questioned the Eric Kendricks signing and whether the Chargers have made sound financial decisions with a roster that’s not championship ready. The picture could change if things go well in the draft. Most of the draft experts believe the most likely outcome in round one, is the Chargers getting a new weapon for Justin Herbert.
