Final Chargers Draft Prediction: Michael Mayer Feels Likely But Better Options Probably Available Apr 27, 2023

Show notes

It's Draft day for the Los Angeles Chargers and Daniel and David feel like they know who the pick will be at 21. Notre Dame tight end Michael Mayer seems like the safe pick in round one, but that doesn't mean it would be the best choice. The guys discuss why the would be ecstatic for Zay Jones or Nolan Smith if they make it to them, and other players they would still be very happy with. How could you be mad at adding Bijan Robinson? There are also some players like Lukas Van Ness and Trenton Simpson that should be on the do not draft list for Los Angeles in round one. After all of the film and mock drafts the hosts get into their biggest draft crushes in the 2023 class.

The Draft Day Game Plan For The Los Angeles Chargers And GM Tom Telesco Apr 26, 2023

Show notes

The Los Angeles Chargers must be precise with how they attack the NFL Draft so Dan and David have the game plan to address key positions. Getting Justin Herbert an explosive receiver and finding a tight end that fits Kellen Moore's offense should be a priority early. If the Chargers want to find an insurance policy for Joey Bosa and Khalil Mack, a premium pick will have to be used. Tom Telesco can't add to every position, but needs to have contingencies in place in case they land a cornerback and safety from the 2023 class. The guys also discuss why they think if the Chargers don't get Bijan Robinson, that they may be content with the room they have at running back. If that's the case, Isaiah Spiller will have to step into a larger role.

Los Angeles Chargers Ideal Draft Targets And Potential Role Players Day Three Apr 25, 2023

Show notes

Great teams find contributors late in the NFL Draft and the Los Angeles Chargers must use their later picks to find players with potential like Jamaree Salyer. Daniel and David roll out part two of their ideal 7-round Chargers mock draft trying to find sleepers and depth pieces in rounds 4-7. The guys each find an explosive player in round four with David taking electric safety Sydney Brown who comes with flaws but brings a playmaking ability the Chargers lack on the back end. Dan goes with running back DeWayne McBride who had four games with a 60+ yard carry in 2022 at UAB. Cornerback is another position with question marks and Kyu Blu Kelly is an outside corner prospect with ball skills that could be around after poor testing. Los Angeles won't fill every need in this draft but one place they have to address is depth in the trenches and there are some interesting projects that will be available late.

The Perfect Chargers 7-Round Mock Draft With The Best Options In Each Round Apr 24, 2023

Show notes

Electric wide receiver Zay Flowers would bring major juice to the Los Angeles Chargers offense in round one while Nolan Smith would give them a future defensive cornerstone that could contribute now. Dan and David share their ideal Chargers mock 7-round drafts taking their favorite selections in each round. Dan has a draft crush on receiver Jonathan Mingo and is able to land him in round two to add some more explosiveness and physicality to the Chargers offense. Tom Telesco has his tendencies and drafting a Notre Dame player is an annual tradition for him. EDGE rusher Isaiah Foskey could be the latest, after checking off many of the physical boxes the Chargers like on defense. The guys each find their tight on in round three with David opting for Iowa TE Sam LaPorta who is one of the drafts most dangerous receivers at the position. Dan goes with Tucker Kraft who has a more rounded skillset with starter potential down the road.

Top EDGE Rushers The Los Angeles Chargers Should Target In The 2023 NFL Draft Apr 21, 2023

Show notes

The Los Angeles Chargers must address edge rusher in the draft and there are some very exciting prospects for them to choose from. Dan and David love the ability of Georgia product Nolan Smith, but the Chargers could be swayed by the freaky physical traits of Lukas Van Ness. The guys break down their favorite rushers of the 2023 class and which day of the draft they would have to take them. Day two brings some solid prospects like Isaiah Foskey and Zach Harrison that have the tools to become starters down the road. Day three is trickier with more obviously flawed players but several later guys could become role players. YaYa Diaby is an exciting prospect that could be available late and brings potential as a pass rusher and run defender.

Top Wide Receiver Prospects The Los Angeles Chargers Should Target In The 2023 NFL Draft Apr 20, 2023

Show notes

The Los Angeles Chargers need draft a wide receiver to complement Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, and the explosiveness and playmaking of Zay Flowers could be the perfect fit. Dan and David break down their favorite wide receiver prospects for each day of the NFL Draft looking for speed and someone who can create after the catch. Day Two could be the sweet spot for receivers and your hosts decide they would run up to the podium in round two for Jalen Hyatt, Marvin Mims and Jonathan Mingo. They all bring a certain level of speed to the table but Mingo brings a certain level of physicality that is a lot of fun to watch. If the Chargers wait til Day Three to scoop up a pass catcher, they will be harder to find but there are some role players that could make sense late in the draft.

Chargers Re-Sign WR Jalen Guyton But Los Angeles Must Still Add More At Receiver Apr 19, 2023

Show notes

It was a great signing for the Los Angeles Chargers to re-sign speedster Jalen Guyton, but that should not stop the team from still taking a wide receiver early in the draft. Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts just signed a mega deal and it gives some great insight into what Justin Herbert's contract could look like. Will the Chargers be able to give him the major extension and still give themselves enough room to build around him. Right now Justin Herbert just needs to get back on the field for OTAs after he recovers from a shoulder injury so he can get up to speed on Kellen Moore's offense. New linebacker Eric Kendricks spoke with the media and the guys discuss why this is the latest example of Brandon Staley being a good recruiter of free agents.

6-Round Chargers Mock Draft Part Two: Tre'Vius Tomlinson And Other Best Values On Day 3 Apr 18, 2023

Show notes

The Los Angeles Chargers need some cornerback help from this draft class, and Tre'Vius Hodges-Tomlinson could add some juice to the back end. Dan and David continue their 6-round Chargers mock draft and discuss what they like about the undersized but scrappy nephew of the great LaDaininan Tomlinson. There are a ton of undersized pass catcher in the upcoming draft but tight end Zach Kuntz as size and speed to burn if can grow into his skillset. If Los Angeles wants to go more with the blocking tight end route under Kellen Moore, maybe Payne Durham would make more sense. Dan ends up finding a running back he's excited about later with DeWayne McBride. Is he a good fit for Kellen Moore's new offense.
