The Chargers Three Biggest Offseason Upgrades: Kellen Moore Over Joe Lombardi Leads The Way May 29, 2023

Show notes

The Los Angeles Chargers needed upgrades after falling short in 2023, and new offensive coordinator Kellen Moore fits the bill. Moore over Lombardi should bring more efficiency on offense and be a giant upgrade for the Chargers rushing attack. Another big upgrade for the Chargers is Quentin Johnston over Joshua Palmer. The offense was fine with Palmer, but Johnston brings explosiveness and yards after the catch ability Los Angeles desperately needed. Derius Davis was the most electric return man in college football, and should be an important improvement to the Chargers Special Teams. The hardest upgrade to quantify is Eric Kendricks over Drue Tranquill. Tranquill was great last year, but Kendricks has more experience and a fuller resumé.

Could This Be Keenan Allen And Mike Williams Final Season With The Chargers? May 19, 2023

Show notes

The Los Angeles Chargers took WR Quentin Johnston in the first round, but what does that mean for Keenan Allen and Mike Williams? With 30+ million dollar cap hits in 2024, it could mean a farewell season for one or both of the star receivers. Dan and David also discuss the Chargers signing free agent defensive lineman Nick Williams. Once a big issue for Los Angeles, the interior group is looking much deeper going into 2023. One of question that hasn't been answered is the impact of new defensive coordinator Derrick Ansley. We know Brandon Staley will still be calling plays, but can Ansley help elevate the group in a way Renaldo Hill couldn't?

Top-5 Most Important Chargers in 2023: Justin Herbert Has Best Supporting Cast Yet May 18, 2023

Show notes

The Los Angeles Chargers have many stars, but Justin Herbert is their most important player, and has to be great in 2023. The good news for him is, he is surrounded by the best supporting cast that he has had in his career. Dan and David break down the 5 most important Chargers heading into the season. Derwin James may be the second most important player on the team, but Rashawn Slater is right behind him. Joey Bosa had a polarizing end to 2022, but him being healthy is the easiest way for the Chargers to improve defensively. Austin Ekeler has requested a trade, but one of the reasons he will likely stay put is because he is an invaluable piece of the offense.

Re-Grading The Los Angeles Chargers 2022 Draft Class: Was Zion Johnson The Right Pick? May 16, 2023

Show notes

The Chargers got major contributions from many of their rookies in 2022, and some of their selections look like absolute steals. Dan and David re-grade every pick from last year's draft class with Zion Johnson and Jamaree Salyer still looking great in retrospect. Salyer and fellow Day 3 pick Ja'Sir Taylor were both playing meaningful by the end of the season and look like insane value. The hardest players to re-grade after year one were Isaiah Spiller and JT Woods with such a small sample size. It would be very difficult to give them great grades after underwhelming results, but it's too soon to say if they can make a leap in year 2. Both of the Chargers 7th round picks from last year Deane Leonard and Zander Horvath even found ways to make contributions, but it's unclear what their role will be in 2023.

Los Angeles Chargers 2023 Record Prediction with Game By Game Wins And Losses May 15, 2023

Show notes

The Chargers roster is loaded again leading up to the 2023 season, but that only matters if Los Angeles can live up to they hype. Dan and David do an early record prediction with the schedule now out, and Dan even thinks there's a chance they go 5-0! The guys agree that the softer part of the schedule for the Chargers is at the start of the year but the Kellen Moore revenge game against the Cowboys could be the most fun. The biggest test will be the Kansas City Chiefs. Can they pull off a season split this year with the defending champs. Either way the Chargers have to take care of business against the Raiders and Broncos. The guys get into the rest of the biggest games from the Bills to the ravens and how the Chargers will fare against the league's best.
