The Chargers Added Explosiveness And Upgraded at OC with Kellen Moore Filling Biggest Needs Jun 12, 2023

Show notes

The Los Angeles Chargers desperately needed to add more speed and explosiveness this offseason and to upgrade at offensive coordinator spot heading into 2024. Kellen Moore has proven he can lead a top offense while Quentin Johnston and Derius Davis bring some much needed juice. Dan and David also get into the Chargers finding a way to bring back their most important internal free agents like Morgan Fox and Trey Pipkins. With gigantic contracts in 2024, Los Angeles needed to find future replacement and depth at EDGE rusher. Did the Chargers do enough in the offseason to help fix the defense? The biggest boxes the team hasn't checked yet are giving Justin Herbert an extension and upgrading the tight end room.

Show notes

Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert has been restricted after offseason surgery but he is back in action and was airing out the deep ball at OTA’s. Dan and David also welcome Chargers rookie Daiyan Henley onto the show to discuss what he will bring to the defense. New defensive coordinator Derrick Ansley is impressed by the young linebacker so far. The guys also discuss cornerback JC Jackson getting back on the practice field after his season-ending injury. If he could not only comeback healthy, but also return to his ball hawking ways, the Chargers could be loaded at cornerback.

Is DeAndre Hopkins A Possibility For Justin Herbert And The Chargers? Jun 07, 2023

Show notes

Superstar WR DeAndre Hopkins recently said he would want to play with Chargers QB Justin Herbert. Even if Los Angeles could find the cap to do it, his signing is unlikely with the depth the Chargers have at wide receiver. Since Herbert has taken over, not many new offensive weapons have been brought in by GM Tom Telesco. Has he done enough to put enough talent around his superstar quarterback? Dan and David also give out some early bold predictions for the season like the Chargers turning around one of the NFL's worst running games.

The Chargers Super Bowl Window Is Closing For Current Group Of Stars Jun 05, 2023

Show notes

The Los Angeles Chargers made win-now this offseason that have put them way over the cap in 2024. With major questions around the future of stars like Keenan Allen and Joey Bosa, the Chargers have made it that much more important that they win in 2023. Justin Herbert's massive contract extension will make it increasingly hard to stay competitive, but it will help the team's cap in the short term. Dan and David go over how the Chargers can get under the cap next year, but know it's impossible to keep all of the stars together. Even if they get under the cap however, they will still find it hard to keep big name 2024 free agents like Austin Ekeler and Michael Davis.

Chargers RB Isaiah Spiller Joins To Discuss Fresh Start In Year 2 and New Look Offense Jun 01, 2023

Show notes

Isaiah Spiller is ready to shine for the Chargers in year two, and has the talent to make an impact on a loaded offense. Spiller joins Dan and David to talk about earning a role and why he plays with a chip on his shoulder. With a new OC in the mix Spiller will learn another new scheme but thinks that Kellen Moore has a player friendly offense. The guys also get into Moore simplifying the run game and finding their go-to plays on the ground. Now fully recovered from his injury, Rashawn Slater thinks the new scheme will let the offensive line think less and play quicker.

Chargers WR Quentin Johnston Has Rookie of the Year Potential But Odds Are Stacked Against Him May 31, 2023

Show notes

Quentin Johnston was brought in to be an explosive difference maker for the Chargers, but can he win offensive rookie of the year? Sharing a room with Keenan Allen and Mike Williams makes it tougher, but if he does breakout it would take the Los Angeles offense to the next level. Dan and David lay out how each of the Chargers first three picks could win rookie of the year, and the short and long-term impact it would make. Pass rushers usually win the honor on the defensive side, but Tuli Tuipulotu would have a very difficult path. If he does go off in year one, the Chargers would have their heir apparent to Joey Bosa and Khalil Mack. If Daiyan Henley won the award, it would mean he has established himself as one of the best linebackers in the NFL.

Los Angeles Chargers Surprise Cut Candidates: Will Jalen Guyton Make the Team? May 30, 2023

Show notes

Every year the Chargers make a roster cut that no one sees coming and this year speedy receiver Jalen Guyton could be that player. Although Guyton would be a surprise, there are several 2022 rostered players who have their job on the line going into 2023. Dan and David also get into why the backup roster spots are so important, after seeing how backups Jamaree Salyer and Michael Davis thrived last season. One player that will surely be kept on the team is 7th-round pick Max Duggan, even after the NFL changed the emergency quarterback roster rule. The guys also get into how surprised they would be if the Chargers pulled off the unthinkable and swept the Chiefs this year.
