What happened? Wisconsin Badgers football and Ohio State Buckeyes further look. Sep 26, 2022

Show notes

We take a further look at the beatdown from the Ohio State Buckeyes as they blasted the Wisconsin Badgers in Columbus. We zoom in on the first quarter and look at how the game got away from Wisconsin. There was some excellent play calls and design from Ryan Day and CJ Stroud, some bad misses from Jim Leonard's defense and a controversial decision from Paul Chryst in the first quarter.

Specifically with the Buckeyes we talk about all of the ways they scheme open their galaxy of stars using motion, play-action and rollouts. Its very impressive and it clearly caused issues for the Badgers defense. We talk about the Wisconsin front 7 and a disappointing effort from Keanu Benton and the linebackers. We also talk about the various ways Ohio State can make you pay if you lose focus.

On offense, it was the Badgers continuing focus on running every first down out of predictable formations that marked yet another disappointing Badgers effort. We also break down Paul Chryst's decision to punt on 4th-1 down 21-0 and why thats a spot where the Badgers needed to go for it.

Wisconsin Badgers football reaction show to the Ohio State football beatdown in Columbus Sep 25, 2022

Show notes

The Wisconsin Badgers football team was beaten down in Columbus by CJ Stroud and the Ohio State Buckeyes.

We jump on the reaction show to talk about Paul Chryst, Graham Mertz, Ryan Day, CJ Stroud and what happened to the vaunted Badgers defense. Braelon Allen had a good game, but there was precious little outside of that to hand your hats on as Badger fans. The Buckeyes jumped to a big early lead with their explosive offense and a Graham Mertz interception. It was all downhill from there.

We get a lot of users and community members on the show to discuss there thoughts, frustrations and vent together.

Wisconsin Badgers football recruiting talk, where is the QB? Thoughts on 2024 in-state prospects Corey Smith and Donovan Harbour Sep 24, 2022

Show notes

Wisconsin Badgers football recruiting talk with John Garcia from Sports Illustrated. What is the latest on Wisconsin quarterback recruiting? What about the two in-state 2024 blue-chip prospects from Waukesha, Wisconsin -- running back Corey Smith and offensive lineman Donovan Harbour. We start with the QBs and talk a lot about Parker Leise a pro-style QB that Wisconsin has been talking to from IMG. We also briefly talk about Ryan Browne and Cole Lacrue again.

John loves the film and versatility of Corey Smith, we talk about why he's a modern running back and why his film is so impressive. John love's Smith's ability to play in space and also to be a really good player in the passing game. We talk a little bit about his similarities to Nate White the 2023 in-state Wisconsin running back verbal commit.

On the last segment we talk about Donovan Harbour, who is Smith's teammate and a national level recruit in his own right. John loves Harbour's frame and ability to pass protect and get to the second level. We talk about his aggressiveness and why that motor is so important as offensive lineman.

Nolan Winter potential Wisconsin Badgers basketball commit and Ohio State football preview Sep 23, 2022

Show notes

Nolan Winter a big 2023 basketball recruit for the Wisconsin Badgers is picking schools tomorrow, will it be the Badgers and what would his game look like next to Gus Yalden ? We also continue talking about the big football game this weekend between the Badgers and the Ohio State Buckeyes. Will CJ Stroud remain perfect this year; or will Graham Mertz find a way to come out ahead.

We start with Nolan Winter, Justin and I talk about how he is much more than just a pick and pop player; he's a perfect player in the Badger system and someone who will thrive with Greg Gard.

We dive back into the big game this weekend and Justin talks about how the Badgers have to be more aggressive and not fall back into old habits of trying to run without using the passin game. We discuss the biggest keys for the Badgers to make this a tight game, the pass rush and the passing game have to be solid and the Badgers cannot have a repeat of the Washington State game where they shot themselves in the foot.

Wisconsin Badgers football and the Ohio State Buckeyes initial thoughts and preview Sep 20, 2022

Show notes

Its game week for the Wisconsin Badgers football team as they gear up for the Ohio State Buckeyes. We talk about how good Ohio State is and why I hate playing them. I talk a little bit about the recent history in the series and just how demoralizing playing the Buckeyes can be.

I talk about the key players on Ohio State and dive into just how good CJ Stroud is and why he's going to drive Badger fans nuts. We discuss the great WR corp Stroud has at his disposal and why a potential injury to the Buckeyes star running back may be a big deal.

We discuss five Badgers starting with QB Graham Mertz that need to play well for the Badgers to have a chance against OSU this weekend. Wisconsin is going to need big games from two veteran leaders along the LOS with Joe Tippman and Keanu Benton needing to play major roles in this game for the Wisconsin team to have success.

Finally I talk about the gameplan; will Paul Chryst open up the playbook or will Wisconsin try to play a ball-control scheme to keep CJ Stroud off the field. Which strategy makes the most sense?

Wisconsin Badgers football, which positions are better or worse than we expected through three weeks ? Sep 19, 2022

Show notes

Wisconsin Badgers football has played three games, Justin and I go position by position and talk about which spots are better than we thought they were and which spots are worse. We are both onboard with Graham Mertz looking incredible. Statistically Mertz is one of the best quarterbacks in the Big Ten, certainly nobody saw that coming. We also talk about the depth in the WR room and the surprising play from the two tight ends. Who does Clay Cundiff remind us of ?

On the negative side, both the running backs and offensive line have underperformed, specifically Braelon Allen is down from his yards per carry last year, is there reason to be concerned, or is it just early season jitters. Defensively we talk about the uneven play from the linebackers and we agree we expected more from the guys not named Nick Herbig. We disagree on the defensive line, as Justin is a little higher with their performance up to this date.

Finally we discuss the secondary and why we both think they have been about as good as expected given the injuries and new players.

Wisconsin Badgers football, the positivity show! Graham Mertz is good, the Big Ten West is bad and the Badgers will still win the division. Sep 16, 2022

Show notes

Lets talk about the positives for the Wisconsin Badgers football team; starting with the fact that Graham Mertz is a good quarterback - he looks so much better than what we saw last year. Currently Mertz is statistically the 4th best QB in the Big Ten. If that trend holds, I still think the rest of this team is really good and the loss to Washington State is going to look more and more like a blip in the noise. If we still believe all of the pre-season hype with the defense, with Bob Bostad coaching the offensive line, with the upgraded WR corps and with Bobby Engram calling plays.

We talk about just how bad the Big Ten West is, and why Wisconsin even if they continue to struggle may be the best bad team in the division. The most competent team so far has been Minnesota and they've played absolutely nobody and will need to go through Madison for the axe. We also talk about the large number of new players and faces that are still likely gelling and how the Badgers are a team that should keep getting better as the season unfolds.

Wisconsin Badgers football and New Mexico State Aggies preview, what do we need to see ? Sep 15, 2022

Show notes

The Wisconsin Badgers take on the New Mexico State Aggies in a big football matchup. The Badgers need a get-right game coming off their loss to Washington State and before their much anticipated matchup with the Ohio State Buckeyes. We talk about what we need to see in this game from the Badgers who come in as 37 point favorites. Graham Mertz needs to keep the mojo going and stack another good game on top of his other two strong performances. We talk about the need for the running game to establish itself and for the offensive line to shrug off a mediocre start to the season and push the Aggies around.

We also discuss the need for a clean game. Penalties, turnovers and special teams were all a problem in week 2, the Badgers need to clean those issues up and get ready for the meat of the season. We discuss the Aggies and former Gophers Coach Jerry Kill.

We also discuss some of the key recruiting visitors that were on campus for Washington State.
