Spellslinger University | School of Low Mana Value Mar 10, 2026

Show notes

In classic LCP fashion, let's add nuance to the spellslinger archetype. With years of casting spells and an upcoming visit Strixhaven scheduled, Andy sets up the spellslinger series by delineating two schools of spellslinger decks: the low mana value and the high mana value. With the notion in mind of the two strategies functioning like their own schools of the archetype, Andy plumbs the theoretical depths of why low mana value spellslinger decks require their own unique approach and assessment of valuable tools. Enchantress Then & Now Feb 23, 2026

Show notes

Like any EDH archetype, tools and resources for enchantress have changed with the expansion of the game. Let's explore that. Kyle brings Andy into an exploration of what cards existed in the enchantress realm a la 2018--a time when commander was starting to get some dedicated tools designed for the archetype and that were generally expanding the type's capabilities. He then compares that against what is surfacing to the top on EDHREC today. Kyle shares a few illustrating deck concepts for both the 2018 era and what can be done now. From animating our enchantments to combos and Voltron, he walks Kyle and Andy through a set of pros and cons with illustrative examples along the way. Visiting Enchantments with Renewed Perspective Feb 06, 2026

Show notes

Turns out that despite Kyle's frequent love and mention of enchantments, he hasn't done an episode on them in a while. With the length of the podcast's history, Kyle takes Andy back to some ideas discussed in 2018 and opens up discussion about the seismic changes to how the card type can be played in commander. Andy opens the analogy of liminal spaces in Magic and the two take a look at how different enchantment archetypes may lead us to create liminal spaces in our brews. New Year, New Aims Jan 16, 2026

Show notes

Last year the LCP church did some wild things as a group and individuals, so what could this year of Magic bring with some intention. After a year of taking apart entire rosters of decks and trying to figure out our group's relationship with the bracket system, Andy and Kyle are thinking about what they want to get out of their experience with this hobby that brings us all together this year. From maintaining a roster, to finding the sweet spot of deck construction, the group interaction, and more, let's talk about what's on our minds going into 2026.
