Alternative Build Paths | Bruna, the Fading Light Jun 26, 2026

Show notes

Different decks built around the same commander may even call for different approaches to mana development. Andy takes Kyle into his two different builds for Bruna, the Fading light—one around making angels hellishly persistent, the other recovering valuable low-curve humans. As they look at the two lists, focus descends onto how differently the construction of mana access has been important for realizing these two adjacent, but different styles of play. Spellslinger | Draw, Go! Apr 09, 2026

Show notes

Who needs to use their turn when the luxury of timing is on their side? Some may think of the classic spellslinger as annoyingly taking their turn on someone else's turn--check the last episode to explore why that doesn't need to be the case. In this episode, Andy gets into the reasons for delaying actions until the needful moment, how to keep that from becoming a pitfall, and how this stance can be leveraged in a variety of deck concepts. Spellslinger | We Go Now! Mar 31, 2026

Show notes

We talked about the mana value composition of a spellslinger deck, now let's get into thinking about the deck's posture. Often times we can craft decks and we let the archetype and cards dictate whether we are aggressively playing cards or waiting for the right moment to strike. Andy explores how we can be more deliberate with the choice and gets into examples of how spellslinger can be constructed to aggressively play its cards, rather than waiting for specific moments.
