He was the soundtrack of the NHL just like Marv Albert was for the NBA. Mike “Doc” Emrick spent nearly 50 years honing his craft but as the national voice of the NHL was revered for his unique approach which included a vocabulary the size of a dictionary. He once used 150 catch phrases to describe an Olympic game!
And to think, this Indiana native used to attend hockey games at the Old Chicago stadium as a fan only years later to broadcast from its perch high above the ice surface.
He’s been retired since the end of the 2020 Stanley Cup Final but has an ice rink full of stories including the disappearing goal by Patrick Kane to win the Cup for the Blackhawks in 2010. He wished he had a do-over in that confusing goal but no one wishes a do-over for what was a spectacular and highly entertaining career.

Then, T.J. and Jon pick up on the Baseball Playoffs ratings success and why Jon believes that L.A. is fueling the numbers to this point. Will it continue into the World Series and how much of a difference will it make if it's Houston or the Red Sox in there agains Atlanta or the Dodgers?
Next, the NBA is opening up for 2021-22 on a regular schedule this year after they were just finishing their Finals at this time in 2020.Will the opening nights on Turner and ESPN deliver? Also, some WNBA talk, as well, including Jon pleading for their games to finish before football season begins.

He’s part of a new breed of broadcasters and one of the best of them. Adam Amin already has done in his mid 30s what many play by play guys would dream of…NBA, NFL, MLB, college sports and even Nathan’s hot dog eating contest! And in 2020 was named the TV voice of the Chicago Bulls…not a bad gig when you live just minutes away. What Amin really wanted was the Whitesox job even though he grew up a Cubs fan. That went to Jason Benetti whom Amin said was so deserving of it.
But Amin’s professional story is equaled by his personal one. He’s the only one of four brothers born in the United States as his father left Pakistan in 1980 to begin a new life here, without his family. He eventually brought them here in 1985, a year before Adam was born.
