The Popular Vote vs The Electoral College/Trump vs Biden Predictions Oct 31, 2020
    Show notes

Tonight, on “It's Real Talk Radio”; we will be discussing the Popular Vote vs the Electoral College. The headline question is which do you prefer and why? The Popular Vote represents the total number of individual votes for both Presidential Candidates while the Electoral College is a bit more complex. The Electoral College represents the group of presidential electors required by the United States Constitution to form every four years, for the sole purpose of electing the president and vice president of the United States. Only 5 times out of 45 Presidential Elections has a Presidential Candidate lost the Popular Vote but won the election by winning the Electoral College. 1824; John Q. Adams vs Andrew Jackson, 1876; Rutherford B. Hayes vs Samuel J. Tilden, 1888; Benjamin Harrison vs Grover Cleveland, 2000; George W. Bush vs Al Gore and 2016; Donald Trump vs Hilary Clinton. This means that the Electoral College has only overruled the Popular Vote 11% of all 45 Elections while 89% of the time, the Popular Vote and Electoral College were in alignment. You may be asking yourself "If a presidential candidate can obtain the most votes but still lose by not obtaining the most Electoral College votes, does your vote even count?" This is a fair question and there are many Americans who ask themselves the same question. The United States' Presidential Election is one of the rare competitions where you can win the most votes but still lose the contest. This is a hard pill to swallow for most of us, but because it is written in the United States Constitution, until a bill is passed to make the Popular Vote dictate the winner of the Presidential Election, we have to accept the current rules. We will be sharing our personal views on the Electoral College vs the Popular Vote while also sharing our predictions of the 2020 Presidential Election, as we are just 4 days away from the 2020 Election on November 3rd.

Breast Cancer Awareness/Domestic Violence Awareness Month Oct 24, 2020
    Show notes

Tonight, on It's Real Talk Radio, we will be acknowledging what the month of October symbolizes; Breast Cancer Awareness and Domestic Violence Awareness. Breast Cancer and Domestic Violence both have tremendous impact on so many lives and we feel it's important to put a microscope on both. An estimated 42,000 women die from breast cancer annually in the United States Alone. An estimated 4.8 million women suffer intimate partner related physical assaults and rapes and 2.9 million men are victims of physical assault from their partners. Most of us know at least 1 victim of breast cancer and several victims of domestic violence. The pink ribbon is representative of Breast Cancer Awareness month and we must stand in solidarity with the victims, alongside their friends and family, as this is a never ending fight! Symptoms of Breast Cancer include a lump in the breast, bloody discharge from the nipple, and changes in the shape or texture of the nipple or breast. There are 5 stages of Breast Cancer with Stage 0 being the least severe and Stage 4 being the most severe. Unfortunately, most people who have Stage 4 Breast Cancer don't live long. Nearly half of all female homicide victims are killed by a current or former dating partner, according to a 2017 study by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Black women in the U.S. are twice as likely as white women to be fatally shot by an inmate partner, gun control advocates say, and young black women are almost three times more likely to be shot and killed by an intimate partner than white women in the same age group. This is undeniably troubling and the need for focus on these issues is greater than ever! This is why we found it imperative to have this discussion. October is a very important month because it sheds light on these issues We as allies must continue to support Breast Cancer victims and stand with victims of Domestic Violence. Let's talk about it!

Where Does LeBron Rank In G.O.A.T. Status After Winning His 4th Championship? Oct 17, 2020
    Show notes

Tonight, on It's Real Talk Radio, we will be discussing where LeBron James' G.O.A.T. status ranks after competing in his 10th NBA Finals and winning his 4th championship and 4th Finals MVP. LeBron is arguably the most debated NBA Superstar of all-time and it's always interesting hearing what side of the spectrum NBA fans are on. The LeBron Haters vs the LeBron Stans is like the modern day Ali vs Frazier! We will also be reviewing the 2019-2020 NBA Season along with "The Bubble" and its success. This has had to be the most controversial, emotional, political NBA Season of all-time. From the lost of former NBA Commissionor David Stern, to the tragic lost of Kobe Bryant, to COVID-19 causing a shutdown of the 2019-2020 NBA Season, to the NBA finally devising a plan to resume play in August, to the Milwaukee Bucks' boycott of Game 5 of their Playoff series against the Orlando Magic, to the players almost leaving the bubble without finishing the 2020 NBA Playoffs after sharing their frustration with racial injustices in America, after unarmed Wisconsic native Jacob Blake was shot several times in the back, after walking away from police officers, to the players finally deciding to resume play in The Bubble and concluding the NBA Season with the Los Angeles Lakers eventually winning the 2020 NBA Finals. The 2019-2020 NBA Season sent fans, players and staff on an emotional roller coaster and will probably go down as the most controversial NBA Season of all-time. So what are your thoughts on the 2019-2020 NBA Season, The Bubble, the 2020 NBA Playoffs and where LeBron ranks in the G.O.A.T. discussion? You already know you're gonna get nothing but realness from us, so don't miss out! Eliminate Toxicity From Your Life & Watch Your Life Improve Oct 10, 2020
    Show notes

Tonight, on It's Real Talk Radio, we will be discussing the importance in eliminating toxicity from your life. Whether it's business, networking or personal, toxic energy is always bad! This is something we all experience and truthfully speaking, we owe ourselves more than to tolerate it. Some of us have a toxic work environment and absolutely dread coming to work every day while others may have a toxic business partner who is so toxic, they ruin potential business and cause friction in the workplace. Some of us have toxic friends whose negativity brings you right down with them. Ever had a friend who was a Negative Nancy and always seemed to darken your day after dealing with them? Of course, the worst of all is having a toxic relationship with a partner who is so toxic; you can pretty much see the toxicity oozing out of their body! All of these forms of toxicity are a no go and it is encouraged that you remove yourself from it immediately before you drive yourself up a wall! One of the most significant reasons in removing yourself from toxicity is your own mental health! People can be so toxic that you find YOURSELF smoking, drinking, pill popping or needing a therapist, and you were totally fine until their shenanigans started! Ever seen a toxic marriage? Sometimes both partners are toxic but it's usually a particular party who takes toxicity to a whole new level and you can only feel for those people. Tonight, we will be sharing some of our own personal journeys in dealing with toxicity and how that toxicity was eventually removed from our lives. The most important thing to remember is to not reintroduce toxicity back into your life. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice... shame on me! Don't be the fool! #ItJustGotReal Call In # 563-999-3434

Donald Trump vs Joe Biden 2020 Presidential Debate Review (Debate #1) Oct 03, 2020
    Show notes

Tonight, on It's Real Talk Radio, we will be discussing the 1st Presidential Debate of 2020 between Donald Trump and Joe Biden. There has been a lot of criticism in the outcome of the first presidential debate between Trump and Biden. Donald Trump continuously interrupted both Joe Biden and the moderator while Joe Biden seemed to have lost cool at times, even calling Trump a clown, several times. The moderator pleaded with both candidates to not cut each other off and stick to the topics. From COVID, to racial equality, Biden and Trump went at it. So what side of the fence are you on? Do you think Trump proved he's worthy of staying in office? Do you think Biden has proved he's the more suitable candidate for office? They say Biden is winning in all the poles but they said the same thing about Hilary Clinton in 2016 and we all know how that played out. So who do you think won the first debate and who do you plan on voting for in November, 2020? In other news, Donald Trump has been diagnosed with COVID-19. This is unfortunately interesting considering his previous unwillingness to wear a mask and to encourage his supporters to wear masks to his rallies in general. There was a Trump supporter in one of his rallies that was asked by a reporter why he didn't have on a mask and his response was “The Coronavirus is fake.” That was concerning to hear because of the influence that Trump has and now Trump himself has the virus, which is hopefully an eye opener for all his supporters. Biden is no saint himself. In an interview with The Breakfast Club, he said to the Black community, if you don't vote for him, you're not Black. This was extremely offensive to Black America and they made sure they made their voices heard. Even Black Democrats criticized Joe Biden for his controversial statement. Joe Biden has since recanted his statement. Let's talk politics!

Interview with Family Law Attorney Regina Taylor Sep 26, 2020
    Show notes

Tonight, on It's Real Talk Radio, we will be discussing Family Court with Family Law Attorney, Regina Taylor. This is an IRTR first! We've never had a discussion with an attorney, so we're excited to have Attorney Taylor on. Family Court is a very necessarily court that probably affects even more lives than criminal court. You may or may not know someone who is dealing with criminal court but you're almost certain to know someone dealing with child custody, child support, divorce or things of that nature, which all fall under family law. Well this is where Attorney Taylor comes in, as she will be sharing her expertise. Here's a little about our guest. Attorney Regina Taylor is an attorney in Gastonia, North Carolina. She has practiced in N.C. for the past 29 years focusing on family law, adoption law, and estate planning (which we will also be discussing). She is a graduate of North Carolina A&T State University and North Carolina Central University School of Law. She is admitted to practice in the U.S. Federal Courts for the Western District of North Carolina and the Middle District of North Carolina. She is married and has 2 sons, one in the U.S. Air Force and the other is a student at North Carolina A&T State University. We have many questions for Attorney Taylor and us knowing so many people who are affected by family court, we will try to get the answers to some of the most commonly asked questions involving family court, so have your pens and notepads ready, because tonight will be "Family Law 101." Coping With Harsh Realities & The Importance Of Never Giving Up Sep 19, 2020
    Show notes

Tonight, on It's Real Talk Radio, we will be discussing coping with harsh realities and the importance of never giving up. Tay Real, Bobby G and Michel will all be sharing stories of things they've had to cope with and still are coping with today. We all have to take a ride on the roller coaster of life; like it or not and when it's up, it's UP! But when it's down, it's DOWN! Though we all have unique experiences as a whole, there's always someone who can relate to our individual experiences in some way. Everyone has a reason or excuse they could use to give up, but we live in a world of strong minded, strong willed, determined individuals who continuously find ways to weather the storm and keep it pushing. There are victims of all sorts and any victim has an intriguing story they could probably write a book on. One thing we sleep on is how they were able to face those hardships and keep moving forward. You have to respect the resillience and courage of true fighters. There are many ways to deal with the stress, fears, anxiety, insecurities and complexity that dark experiences leave on you and there is no 1 option for everyone. We all wish we could hit the reset button from a point in our lives and redo it, but life doesn't work that way. Ironically, one could argue that's the beauty in it. We do this show because we believe in engaging in real talk, and we as hosts aren't exempt from the harsh realities that everyone has to face; that's the motivation for this discussion. You have people who've had their children taken, lost loved ones, had their hearts torn to shreds, been brutally attacked, lost limbs, lost their vision, developed speech impairments, the list is endless. How do we motivate these people who are feeling down, to not give up? One way is by sharing our own deepest, darkest experiences and how we've maneuvered through them and continued to live our lives.

    9/1 1 19 Years Later Sep 12, 2020
    Show notes

Tonight, on It's Real Talk Radio, we will be discussing the tragic events that took place on September 11, 2001, which we have all grown to know as 9/11. There are many different versions about what took place on this tragic day but one thing we can all agree on is that it was a horrific day where over 1,000 Americans lost their lives. Since Fridays are our air days and 9/11 landed on a Friday this year, we felt it was appropriate to pay our respects for all of the victims and their families. Some people specifically believe what the media told them about 9/11, some believe what the survivors say and some believe the accusations on the internet. Bobby G is a native New Yorker, so he can speak on the experience from a whole different perspective since he's speaking as an insider. You surely don't wanna miss what Bobby has to say. Regardless of where you stand, what WOULD be a disservice is to brush it off with the whole "Oh well, it wasn't me or my family, so why do I care?" mentality, which a lot of people do and those people are a big part of why the world isn't what it should and could be. To not feel compassion and empathy for others, especially during times of tragedy, is basically disconnecting yourself from humanity, which makes you no different than sociopaths, psychos, Narcissists and the like. Some of the biggest news and media platforms such as YouTube, which we all know is owned by Google, have given strikes and even deleted some YouTubers accounts for posting content that isn't in line with what the media said happened on 9/11, including who caused it and how the twin towers came crashing down. This is how they combat freedom of speech and it's unacceptable! What we WILL do tonight is not care about popular opinion, speak truth to power, and keep it real! After all, this is It's Real Talk Radio, aint it!

The Obstacles Single Parents Face Sep 05, 2020
    Show notes

Tonight, on It's Real Talk Radio, we will be discussing the obstacles single parents face. Being a single parent is anything but easy. Just ask any of your friends or family who are single parents. A single parent is exactly what it sounds like. YOU are single handedly doing everything by yourself. This sometimes gets confused with lazy or unreliable co-parents. Just because the other parent doesn't meet your expectation of good parenting doesn't mean you're a single parent. Being late too often doesn't mean the other parent isn't still involved and still trying. Single parents could go weeks, months and even sometimes years without hearing from the other parent or getting any sort of help. Take that and add the current COVID-19 Pandemic and you have given birth to a whole new struggle! Fall semester of 2020, grade school kids are set to go back to school and in a lot of counties, single parents no longer have the luxury of dropping off their children and coming to get them when the bell rings or at the after school program. A lot of counties have students going to school online, which means if your child is too young to be home alone and you don't have someone who can watch them, YOU have to make yourself available and this has caused a lot of parents to switch work shifts, work from home or completely lose their jobs. If you are indeed a single parent, you don't have the luxury of calling the other parent for help. If you have that luxury, you can rest assured you aren't a single parent. We must acknowledge and pay respects to all of the single moms and dads out there who make it happen on the day to day basis. Raising children isn't easy and it's even tougher when you're doing it alone. Michel is a single mom and Tay is a single dad, so you will be getting the perspective from both sides tonight and you know we're gonna keep it real, so don't miss out!

Megan Thee Stallion Speaks Out/Jacob Blake Shot 7 Times In The Back Aug 29, 2020
    Show notes

Tonight, on It's Real Tallk Radio, we will be discussing the controversy involving rappers Megan Thee Stallion and Tory Lanez. Recently, Megan Thee Stallion, on an Instagram Live video, has publicly admitted that rapper Tory Lanez did indeed shoot her in the foot. Since Megan's confession, Hip Hop has been in a frenzy, with more members of the community denouncing Tory. As of yet, we have still yet to publicly hear from Tory Lanez. ZMultiple rappers including T.I. and Bun B have publicly responded with their feelings on the matter, as Tory continues to get criticized for Megan 's powerful accusations. We will also be addressing the shooting of Jacob Blake, a Black man who was shot 7 times in the back by Wisconsin police officer, Rusten Sheskey, who has since been placed on leave, as the Wisconsin police department continues to investigate the shooting. In the viral video, you can see Jacob Blake walking away to get in his vehicle before officers grabbed then immediately shot him 7 times. Reports are that Jacob Blake is in serious, but stable condition and is likely to be paralyzed from the waist down. Since the shooting of Jacob Blake, enraged protesters have taken the streets to make their voices heard and there has been nonstop national media coverage. Following the release of the video of the Jacob Blake shooting, athletes (led by the NBA) have taken to their social media pages and media outlets to make their voices heard, with LeBron James being the most prominent player to speak out about the racial injustice and police brutality done to the Black community. The NBA players share a common view. "Enough is enough!" On Wednesday, August 26, 2020, players from the Milwaukee Bucks decided to not play their playoff game against the Orlando Magic, which eventually sparked a united front, with the other remaining NBA teams, as they all boycotted their playoff games.
