Social Media Content Creation! Apr 14, 2019
    Show notes

When you get bored, what do you usually do? You browse the internet hoping that something could entertain you. The truth is a big bulk of traffic on the web is composed of people consuming (reading, streaming, playing, etc.) content.

If you’re trying to be an expert in your industry, it’s best that you try to jump on the other side of the fence – by starting to create the content. We dive deep about social media content creation in this latest episode of the Invest In You Podcast. Fredrik, Charlie, and Ivan share everything that you need to know could increase the value you contribute, the sales, and the engagement with your followers. It takes the drive, the skills, and the knowledge to position yourself as one of the top players so make sure to tune in to get their helpful tips.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • Charlie hosts his own YouTube Channel, and he shares that anyone can earn money by entertaining others. Most YouTube influencers rely on ad revenues or by getting sponsors.
    • For podcasts, it’s best to invite people of credibility and of experience whom the listeners can relate to. It’s not just assuming that you’re giving out the most significant value to your audience, but also this increases the engagement with followers and the sales.
      • You can also collaborate content ideas with them.
    • Creating content builds your personal brand. Branding is essential if you want to cement your place in the industry. You want to be the go-to person, their own guide to everything they want to learn and know.
    • It’s important to trust yourself and be confident of what you’re putting out there. And remember to be consistent on posting content on social media.
    • Grow your following in every social media platform. Find a way to link your other platforms in the contents you make and post. One exception though is to consider a follower’s convenience, so they continue supporting your content. For example, if you’re planning on posting a video on Facebook, it’s better if you directly upload it in there, rather than diverting it to YouTube.
    • Look at what the numbers are telling you. Are you gaining enough engagements? What topics are not interesting enough for the viewers?
      • If there is negative feedback, use it as a learning tool and a motivation to improve yourself.

    BEST MOMENTS

    • “Is it okay to collaborate with people who are ahead of your journey? That’s just better for you.”
    • “To me, it’s important, so eventually I might have this as a job, and make money and produce more.” – Charlie
    • “I was trying to create a content bank. I was creating not just junk content but trying to get good quality in my content and trying to make as much of that as possible.” – Ivan

A Special Interview With Richard Newman Apr 07, 2019
    Show notes

Richard Newman is the founder of Body Talk, and the author of the book ‘You Were Born To Speak’. A communication expert, he has been training clients all over the world for twenty years in business communication skills, how to best utilise business storytelling, mindset, and how to perform at their best in the key moments in life

In this episode, Fredrik, Ivan and Charlie Sandvall talk to Richard about how to hone their communication skills, using methods and techniques that have taken Richard a lifetime to perfect.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • From an early age, Richard discovered that his communication skills were lacking, which led to difficulties in forming relationships and interacting socially. This lasted throughout his school life, and until he one day decided that he needed to better his skills in this area.

In India, while living among Tibetan monks, he was forced to use his own creativity to interact and form relationships with them. It was here that he learned to make effective use of non-verbal communications, such as body language and facial expressions. At acting school, he further developed these skills. Subsequently, through a very unlikely connection, Richard then began training companies in how to communicate more effectively. Richard now trains over 10,000 people each year, all over the world.

    • Everything we desire in life, that we don’t already have, is outside of our comfort zone. If it’s inside our comfort zone, then we already own it, or we don’t really want it that much.
    • When interacting with people in authority, or “VIPs”, it’s always best to treat them as a human being. Be respectful, be kind., But putting them on a pedestal will not help your interactions. What does this person care about? What’s important to them? They will appreciate and respect this approach, as all humans do.
    • Human beings have not risen to the top of the food chain on the planet because we’re the fastest or the strongest beings on the planet. We have become the most prevalent species on the planet because we are the best species at communicating. We have used communication to form governments, to organise strategy, to enable the replenishment of our species. This proves that we are all far more capable when it comes to communication than we often think.
    • In life and business, you can have the perfect speech, pitch, language and script in the world. But it means nothing if your delivery is not working. Equally, you can deliver a speech perfectly, but you have nothing to say, then they won’t take action. So we have to make sure we possess both. Congruency is key.
    • A person’s imagination is a strong component in communication. Words can evoke imagery in the mind. Utilising the correct words can create pictures and even memories for people, which can then be used to influence feelings.
    • A successful speech doesn’t mean you have to memorise every word. There’s a journey you need to take your audience on, and you can visualise that journey. All you need to do is then embark upon that journey in your mind and take your audience with you.
    • To get people hooked into an idea, or to put it another way, one of the main ingredients in a “viral hit”, we must tap into the journey that every human is looking for. We like stories. They help to make sense of the world around us. We are all, sometimes subconsciously, looking for the “hero’s journey” story archetype. The skill in a great communicator is transmitting that central concept into every story they tell.
    • To Richard, investing in yourself means nourishing yourself completely, from physical stimulation, to culture, to food, to becoming the best version of yourself there can be, in order that you can recognise where you are at that moment, where you want to go, how you’ll get there, and how you’ll make that happen.

    BEST MOMENTS

‘I started to feel as though I was in a bubble, and that I couldn’t connect well with people’

‘Even when you have no use of words, no common language, you can connect with people on a deeper, richer level’

‘Because I embraced something that was a far bigger challenge than I was ready for, I was able to achieve something very fulfilling’

‘You’re never quite ready and that’s okay’

‘You really have to push yourself to improve’

‘Everything you want in your life, is outside of your comfort zone’

‘People like to speak, and people like to listen’

‘Be as good as you possibly can be every day, not just when a VIP is visiting’

‘We all have some kind of fear’

‘Actually, all of us are naturally good communicators’

‘You can say the right words and get the wrong reaction’

    ‘We are essentially visual creatures’

‘Words lead to pictures lead to feelings’

‘There’s an amazing power that words have to create pictures’

‘A pause is an audio highlighter’

    Show notes

‘If he has to choose between family and friends he chooses climbing’ he has an obsession for climbing’

Today Fredrick, Ivan and Charlie are reviewing the film ‘Free Solo’ which documents the preparation and climb of El Capitan by free soloist Alex Honnold.

They discuss the ways Alex prepared and the technical challenges of filming such a climb along with the learning that can be taken from both the preparation and the actual climb.

Listen in now to hear what they have to say

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • Free Solo is the documentary about Alex Honnold climbing El Capitan.
    • Free solo means no safety equipment, it’s just him and the wall.
    • Why is ‘Free Solo’ an unusual way of climbing? Due to the fact no safety equipment is used from 3 metres upwards climbing becomes very dangerous as any fall is statistically likely to be fatal.
    • He practises the routine any climb over and over again like a gymnast when he undertakes the actual climb it is like a performance following intense and extended rehearsals.
    • Alex Honnold started the Honnold foundation which ‘seeks simple sustainable ways to improve lives worldwide’
    • He has used the interest in his climbing to raise funds that have been used to create sustainable energy projects.
    • Through the foundation, he has been able to integrate his passion with his profession and also do something great for people and the environment.
    • The learning that can be taken from the climb is about thoroughly preparing and rehearsing what you are facing, and this can be applied to business where good preparation is vital for success.
    • In business, you can also actively consider how you can pre-empt outcomes and de-risk a plan or a project.

    BEST MOMENTS

‘He’s not just a jackass, he doesn’t just climb it he practises over and over again’

‘Imagine the Olympic games where if you don’t win its certain death’

‘He had climbed the range previously using ropes and knew it very well but prepared by rehearsing sections of it over and over again’

‘Alex considered it was low risk with high consequences’

‘Alex has been climbing for around 20 years of which 10years have been at a very high professional level’

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    Success strategies and tactics:

    • You are on a mission. You’ve got a goal to do, and that’s the ONLY option. You’ve got to do the tasks, so you progress.

    • Reason why. If the idea why you’re doing what you’re doing is clear, then your path should be pretty straightforward.

    • Learn how to survive through the ups and downs so you can achieve your goal.
    • Change and adapt. The world is ever-changing, so you have to learn how to adapt to it to make sure you’re climbing up the ladder.
    • Travel and get to know other cultures. It expands your mindset and your perspective about life and others.
    • It’s all about running and guiding your team expertly.
    • The flawed idea of doing what you Love. It’s better to play to your strengths and delegate.
    • If it’s not your expertise, let the expert do it for you instead.
    • Don’t give up. No matter how big the challenge, face it and overcome it!
    • Continuous learning. Learning does not stop when you exit the classrooms. There is no limit to how much and where you can learn.
    • Have a good mentor who you can get guidance from, talk your ideas with.
    • It’s nice to make and collaborate on projects with other people. You learn and grow with them.

Obsession is Power& Brings Results Mar 11, 2019
    Show notes

In this episode Fredrik, Ivan and Charlie are together and discussing the importance and power of obsession in realising your goals and aspirations. They share their own obsessions and how they are focusing on achieving positive results.

If you want to understand more about the role and power of obsession when you are learning new things and on the journey of self-improvement then listen in now.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • Being obsessed can be great if you are obsessed with the right things. If you are obsessed you can develop positive habits, and this can be a productive part of your life.
    • If, like Ivan, you are obsessed with training to achieve a goal you will have focus and achieve positive results.
    • Being obsessed can make you push yourself to learn new things and reach new heights. If your obsession is video and parkour, like Charlie, then you can learn and improve your skills and techniques
    • Over the past few years Fredrik has had several interests that he has focused on and in recent years an obsession to achieve successful outcomes in property has helped him reach results that are, in many cases, significantly more than others achieve.
    • What’s the opposite of obsessed? It's that weak lethargic guy who only does enough to survive. He hasn’t gone the extra mile or tried to do anything to improve himself. Is that who you want to be?
    • We all have the choice to flick the switch and go ‘full on’ or to not touch the switch at all. People who are obsessed have made a positive choice to really improve.
    • Obsession is about pushing through and doing a lot more than is normal.

Whatever you choose to do in your life it’s important that in your chosen space you strive to be extraordinary.

    • You need to know what your destination is with specific goals and a detailed plan to achieve success. Even if you don’t achieve your goals you will have improved and have started on the journey.
    • If you set high goals you will push yourself harder to reach them and move more rapidly.
    • You know you are truly obsessed when no one is watching, and you are still doing the work. Others may see an obsession at its peak, but there will have been many years of training to reach that point

    BEST MOMENTS

‘I'm obsessed with helping others and this means I often say ‘yes’ more than I should’

‘Wouldn’t you rather be obsessed and awesome’

‘If you are obsessed with the wrong things then this is destructive and negative’

‘Athletes and high performers are sure they are going to get there’

‘I know exactly where I am going to go and know I’m going to get there’

‘Anyone can be obsessed and what you are obsessed about is up to you’

‘Obsession can take the form of wanting to challenge yourself in different ways such as climbing a mountain’

‘When you think that working super hard towards your goals is fun then you are obsessed’

‘Life is so short do what you want to do’

#048 Social Media; Selling an Update From a Teenagers First Online Profit. With Charlie and Fredrik Sandvall Feb 18, 2019
    Show notes

In this episode, Fredrik and Charlie explore why you should sell through social media.

Charlie has been researching different social media platforms and how they can be successfully monetised.

Listen in to find out how to start making money from your social media accounts today.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • Most people spend lots of time on social media, for Facebook, this can upwards of 2 hours per day
    • If you use only a fraction of this time to be a producer or content creator and monetise it you can move up.
    • Social media platforms

YouTube is the prime account as I like the video style and share lifestyle stuff, funny things I do and occasionally content

Instagram - I don’t have a fixed thing I do so its varied content. I often use it to advertise the YouTube channel.

    • How have you increased followers on YouTube this month?

By being more active and making better videos. I have also been promoting more awareness of my YouTube channel and have now reached 100 subscribers.

    • How have you increased your Instagram following?

Following other people means there is a likely hood they will follow you back, so I have followed more people, and this has been a successful strategy to increase my followers.

    • Social media is about being social linked to relations, interaction, communication, sharing, liking. You need to follow others to build your own following.
    • How have you made money from your accounts?

By joining the affiliate program, you sign up with Amazon, post the link for a product on your accounts and if someone clicks through you get a commission.

Amazon has requirements that must be met – you need to have a following, complete the required forms for Amazon and adhere to the tax rules for the country you are in.

    • Use YouTube to advertise your merchandise

Use a video to show people the merchandise and refer people there. People can then link to you to purchase the product.
