From Self Employed To Business Owner - Make This Shift To Enjoy More Time & More Money! Aug 30, 2019
    Show notes

From employee to side hustle and self employed is a great first step... But the BIG MONEY & time freedom come from building a real business!

This video expands on the idea of the cash flow quadrant. If you're not familiar with this core concept, read this post here: www.youtube.com/redirect?event=video_description&v=WjYlXfXIhDo&q=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.milesbeckler.com%2Fcashflow-quadrant%2F&redir_token=Qvwpd-05Zl4ephBSTQ3nez2RhHh8MTU2NzIzMDU3MEAxNTY3MTQ0MTcw

    Or watch the video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=_YqEt4HsNyk

this video is all about transitioning from being self employed to being a business owner. Now in a previous video I covered the four quadrants of the cashflow quadrant. Number one is being an employee. Then you have being a self employed individual, then there's a business owner and fourth and finally you have being an investor and really I think the the biggest lifestyle jump and the biggest benefit for you is in getting from that self-employed phase up to the business owner phase. So we're going to talk about what that is and how they differ in this video. But then you're going to learn how, what do you need to do to actually make that transition because there's a lot more freedom and there's a lot more income potential being a business owner versus being self employed. But I want to make sure you know that being self employed is a great step and it's kind of a must have step on the path.

You see. When my wife and I were first getting our website going, we both had day jobs, desk jobs, nine to fives with commutes and all that jazz. And then we would work the nights and weekends on our business. Over the course of several months growing that website, growing traffic, getting it picked up by Google, doing SEO, I learned the basics of how to rank a website. And then I decided to let go of my employee position and shift to being self employed. This is when I started offering services for local businesses because I knew that I could help them get onto wordpress websites, I could help them do keyword research and content marketing in a way that would get them to outrank their competitors, their other local businesses. And I knew this would make them more money and I knew that they were willing to invest in that.

So that was my transition down to the self-employed world. And my wife and I stayed in this position in this phase for about four years and I learned a lot of skills and it worked really well to give me extra time. You see when I was an employee, I had about a two hour, sometimes on a bad day, three hours a day commute every single day. So that was 10 sometimes even 15 hours per week. That just disappeared into, you know, the commute and I'd listen to audio books and I'd get audio books from my library to keep filling my brain with positive information and good marketing books. But being able to apply that time to client sites directly in my own website literally helped me increase my income. It was in this phase where we paid off all of the debt, all my $50,000 in student loan debt.

It was in this phase of being self employed that I was able to pay this off. But the challenge with being self employed is that you're kind of the bottleneck in everything. Oftentimes you start out by doing everything. So in those early days, I was the marketing guy, right? I ran the meetup groups where I was able to meet the local business owners. I would go to the networking events and I would sit down over coffee and learn about their businesses. I was the sales guy. I was presenting offers and really kind of crafting custom offers to meet their specific needs. I was the delivery guy, I was the dual, the work guy. I was the keyword researcher. When I sold keyword research packs, I was the quality assurance guy. Okay, so that's being self employed and it was a better arrangement than being an employee. But as I sought to remove myself from the actual day to day work, this is the thought of being a business owner.

This is what you need to get to and really ultimately the, the piece of the puzzle that's going to help you make that shift from being self employed to becoming a business owner is focusing in on systems and processes and then teammates because a business compared to that self-employed reality that I just shared with you. A business is one that has different individuals, project managers, operations officers, et Cetera, who oversee entire teams and divisions who all move projects forward on their own. It eliminates the situation where every road flows back to miles, right? Every decision eventually landed on Miles's desk and everything needed miles. His input. Now it's built in a way. My business is built in a way that all of the different individual people in the game, uh, the people running our backlink campaigns, they all have very standardized processes that they follow.

The BIG Email Segmentation Myth & The Best Email Marketing Strategy Revealed. Aug 20, 2019

Want to learn how to setup my recommended email marketing system? This video shows step-by-step how to build your autoresponder the right way with a broadcast segment: www.youtube.com/watch?v=bcMs67rbJa8

This video reveals the email segmentation myth because in the world of email marketing, there's a gigantic myth around segmentation and you're going to learn what that myth is. You're going to learn the right way to do email marketing, and then finally you're going to learn about a free email marketing course that I'm personally studying. I highly recommend that is absolutely brilliant, but first we got to talk about the email marketing segmentation myth because if you start to buy into all this hype, you may get zero traction when you need momentum more than anything. So what do I mean? Now, whether it's the actual software creators, right? The people who are creating and selling email marketing software or those gurus out there who are selling you the $2,000 courses because you need dynamic behavioral response marketing and all these fancy terms.

The truth is when you're getting started, when you're growing to $10,000 per month, you generally do not need advanced email marketing segmentation. Now I'm happy to admit that there's a point in the digital marketing business where having some segmentation will come in handy and can help you improve profits. I am using some of these things and we're going to talk about that here in a minute, but the key, the core key right now is that if you're generating $1,000 a month revenue, $2,000 a month revenue, $3,000 a month revenue, and you're not at that 10 grand a month mark, you need to be focused on more marketing activity that's going to bring more people into your ecosystem and making more offers and the act of taking the time to build out all of these sub sequences, all of these fancy tagging and automation systems is actually distracting you from what you need to be doing.

So how does email marketing segmentation work? Well, the theory is multifold, but you would generally be using some sort of an event as an identifier for a specific person. Maybe they opted in on a specific opt in page, so you tag them and they run down a specific followup sequence or maybe on email for they click a link and you add a specific tag that says they clicked and showed interest in product B. Therefore they go down a separate autoresponder sequence that gives them more information about product B. Now this can make sense if you're bringing in thousands and thousands of new leads through your autoresponder each and every week, but if you're just getting started, the absolute best email marketing system to implement is to have a dedicated followup sequence. Personally, I use about a three mail, three email sequence, and then they move onto my broadcast segment.

My wife sends about 10 emails and then everyone ends up on her broadcast segment. This is it. This is the only segmentation that we do, and this is the only segmentation we've done in the first six or seven years of our business and we were able to grow to a $40,000 per month business in this time frame using one simple automation of when they finish the followup sequence, put them on the broadcast list, and this allows us to focus our time and energy because that is your most valuable resource when you're trying to really build up your business and the marketing activities are focused number one on reaching new audience members through youtube videos, through social media content, through ads on Facebook, through videos, et Cetera, et Cetera. Then we have calls to action for people to join our email list. Those subscribers will then go through that autoresponder sequence and then they end up on our broadcast list and on average between four and six times per week, my wife and I emailed that broadcast sequence.

Now you might be thinking, well, miles, I have topics, different topics. Am I really going to send one email to everyone? And the easy answer is yes, you can do this. So let me give you an example from my business now. My first autoresponder sequence, my first opt in was all about a abundance meditation, Kay, and the bit was that the mindset that the conversation you're having upstairs in your head is what's holding you back from the success that you want. They opted in, they got access to the meditation, they went through 10 emails, and then they got put all my main broadcast list. Now I know these people are interested in mindset and they're interested in growing a business because that's what a my audience is about and that's what the offer was.

Or watch this video next: www.youtube.com/watch?v=5KOyIjg7MGE

This video is going to help you understand exactly what is most valuable for you to work on. Next, in a moment we're going to jump on my computer and I'm going to show you a three step process that you're going to be able to go through to help you identify the most valuable and important thing for you to work on next. Because we've all been there, right? Whether you just went on vacation and came back whether you just finished up a really big project and you don't know what to do next, or you had friends and family come out for a few days and then you're trying to get back to work and like, what the heck am I doing right now? So this process is what I personally use to kind of get it all out of here and get it down and then organize it in a way, a clear data-driven decision of like, that is exactly what I'm working on next.

Because once you have that confidence in what you're doing next, everything else starts to line up and you can kind of ignore everything else from there. You're just getting started in business online. You can use the same exact process for choosing the right business model, the right approach, the right content marketing campaign, etc, because ultimately there's 1,000,001 ways to make money online. You need to figure out one way and then stick with it. If you're following this person, that person, this person, and jumping all over the place, you're never going to make any progress. This will work in that same scenario. So let's jump right into it. I'm going to share my screen with you here in a moment and we're going to get my little drawing tablet out. So one second on that here.

And here we go. I've got to clean out that last thing I had going on there. Just doing some copy coaching there. Alright, and on here. So the first thing that I recommend you do is writing everything out. Now there is a process, it's called daily pages and I believe it's from a course called the artist's way, which I've been through. And the theory here is when your mind is absolutely full and it's just running, it's just running with you. You should do this and that and this and that. And you can't focus in on one idea. That's because it's running. And the simple act of simply writing it all down is the number one way for you to gain clarity. Because once it's all out of your head, then your mind is free. So number one, write it down. Okay? Then number two is order.

The biggest things, the biggest tasks with a time. That's a clock by the way. And a dollar representation. Okay? So what I mean by this is now that you've written down everything, this is going to be messy. I'm talking just notepads. It's stuff you can burn, you can throw it, you could shred it, it doesn't matter. Throwing your comp has been ultimately write it all out. But out of that, you sometimes go back through and you underline and you might think, well like, okay, so number one, I'm going to use myself as a little bit of an example. So number one, I could do a new affiliate site, right?

    Okay.

Number two, I could build a new funnel.

    Okay?

Number three, I could build a new upsell,

    Okay?

And so on and so forth. Do you want to list out everything that you have going on? Everything that was in your mind, bouncing around, whether it was dumb, pointless, irrelevant. Get it down on this list. But here's the key for this second step. You want to go through and you want to go ahead and note how your estimate, right? It's just an estimate. And I'm gonna change color for this on how much money? On a scale of one to 10 this thing could bring you and how much time it's going to take you on a scale of one to 10 okay? So let's do the money first. So if I'm thinking of new affiliate site, I'm thinking somewhere around $3,000. So I would say that's $300 a month is what I would expect from a new affiliate site. So I would put that somewhere as a three on my list.

A new funnel might bring me in an extra hundred thousand dollars a month, so our, excuse me, $100,000 a year, so I'm going to put this at a seven a new upsell might bring me in, you know, may I could attach it to a lot of different things. I'm going to say that's a five. I'm being arbitrary. Sometimes you just got to jump. I'm just trying to use some sort of a parameter that helps me understand about what it will take. And then we have the time factor k, so I'm just going to put t over here. So how long is it going to take me to build a new affiliate site? Now time horizon is important here. What is your time horizon? For me, a new affiliate site is a 10 out of 10 on time, which means that's the longest term thing. I'm building that one. As the case study.

This video reveals my seven steps sales funnel checklist after making millions of dollars online through sales funnels. I know the importance of going back through double checking all of my work, making sure I got the right bits and pieces in the right places. So I put together this little checklist for myself that I'm going through with this brand new funnel that I'm launching and I figured I'd share it with you so you can kind of run your processes against it and help you identify anything you might be missing in your sales funnels. Let's jump right in. Number one, we're starting at the optin level now. The sales funnels that I run, these are cold traffic funnels that I'm running right now that I'm testing most of my work on. So it's an opt in page, it's a sales page, it's a One-Click Upsell and all the little bits and pieces that go with it.

So the per first place I focus is at the opt in page level and I want to make sure that I have a new big idea coming out right, which means a new lead magnet of sorts but not just the lead magnet. I want to be split testing the actual funnel itself. So I want to be split testing this opt in page. Then I have to go back in and make sure I've got my Facebook tracking and my Google tracking installed correctly so I can note and kind of push the data back into both of those systems so I can analyze the progress, right? If I'm not feeding the data back into Facebook or in the analytics, how would I be able to analyze how well that funnel's doing? I wouldn't therefore getting all of that in place. So on the opt-in page level, it's most important for me right now that I'm testing a new big idea.

I want to test something totally different on the opt in page and then I'm running a smaller split test on the verbiage of the opt in page to see which performs better. Second up is the autoresponder sequence. Now obviously the optin page must be connected to the autoresponder sequence, but since this is a brand new lead magnet, there needs to be a new followup sequence. I use tags in my autoresponders, so I add a new tag so I can identify the individuals who come in through this, um, new kind of form, if you will, those new opt in page. And then I want to make sure that I have a transition from the autoresponder sequence, either back to my old autoresponder sequence that leads them to the broadcast list or directly to the broadcast list. Now, for email marketing, I run people through an autoresponder sequence.

Generally it's between three and 10 days, but after that they get put onto a broadcast list where they get all of those kind of ongoing updates. And that's what I want to make sure is in place before I start sending lots of traffic to the opt in page and people start opting in. I wanna make sure that that system is built in a way that I don't have to think about it. And it kind of automated delivers that which they requested. It then gets them caught up on our bit. What we do, what we offer some additional free value and eventually make sure it lands them on my broadcast list because that is where we make the bulk of our income. Number three is the delivery page, so this is a page on our website and we needs to actually deliver the item. Now this follows the email list portion.

That first email that goes out to the individual who just opted in. That first email is what delivers the thing that they asked for, right? That lead magnet is actually delivered via email, so I need to have that hosted on my site so it's a page on my site, but the actual item is hosted elsewhere. If it's a video system hosted on Vimeo, Vimeo pro, so you can kind of manage the video delivery elsewhere. If it's an MP3, you can use Libsyn or Amazon's S3. You don't really want your web server to, um, have to actually deliver the content itself.

Funnel Stacking - The 3 Funnels That Have Made Millions & How They Work Aug 12, 2019

If you have not yet built your first successful sales funnel, I have a complete tutorial free on YouTube here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=YsUNFZhqkEA&list=PL0sOKzn__yK3iOONk6-QP0Se2G23ZcuWL

Specifically, you're going to learn about the three funnels that I've used to generate multiple millions of dollars online. And more importantly, you're going to learn how these funnels work together because they're stacked in a specific order for a very specific reason. Each one has a job. You're gonna learn what that job is. You're going to learn how and why they're interrelated together. And ultimately you're going to understand what's required for you to create a funnel or a series of funnels that can generate millions of dollars online. So funnel stacking in its simplest form is the idea that every prospect who comes into our world goes through a specific series of funnels in a specific order. They, for me, it's three, and they go through the first funnel, first, the second funnel, then the third, right? They see them in order, they're stacked on top of each other.

Now, the goal of each step in the funnel or each funnel within the funnel is different. So the first step is to essentially turn a new visitor, turn a lead, or turn to someone who has never purchased before into a buyer. Okay? So that's the first step. And I do this generally with my oto funnel or my self liquidating offer funnel and how this one works is someone ops in. And then on the thank you page, they see an extremely special offer. And I'm constantly testing this offer. I've tested everything from as low as a $7 product all the way up to a $97 product. Right now I'm running it on a $27 product, but I'm always testing new products and new price points in that area. And then those who purchase, they get offered a second product and that is a one click upsell and that's the first funnel complete, right?

So it's an opt in, then it's a onetime offer and it's a one click upsell. And the whole goal of that funnel is just to help me create new customers. So I'm monitoring consistently what's my conversion rate on that? And I'm monitoring was my EPC, what am I earnings per click. And my whole goal is to be able to put $1,000 in Facebook ads into this funnel and ultimately get $1,000 out. I'm not trying to make my money off of this front end funnel. That's why it's called a self liquidating offer, is just designed to liquidate my expense, my ad expense, and turn it back into revenue so I can be break even. Because if I can put in $1,000 today and get out $1,000 today, I can put that same thousand dollars back into Facebook ads tomorrow and continue to turn that same thousand dollars. The result is a growing customer list and a very large and growing prospect list.

So that's the first funnel. The second funnel is a high ticket funnel. Now are high ticket funnels in our space aren't actually as high ticket as a lot of internet marketing spaces. Um, our most expensive products are $250 and $600 and these are designed to help our most ambitious customer segments. Get everything because out of your group of audience members, out of my group on this miles back their channel, there is a segment of people who want everything. They believe in the idea of um, that even if they get one or two great ideas, they're going to have a competitive advantage over everyone else. So they're always willing to invest in themselves. They're willing to invest in further education and they want the best of the best. So we have a high ticket funnel that is designed to cater to these individuals. Now is generally a smaller conversion rate, but since it's got more money in it, more profit in it, therefore it really changes the numbers.

this video is all about SEO. Specifically. We're going to answer the question, "What is SEO?" You're going to understand how to do it and I want to put a new perspective on this idea. So even if you heard of SEO and you know what search engine optimization is, we're going to go deeper than just the definition. Now before we start, I don't sell SEO courses. I don't do SEO services. I have nothing to sell you at all. I really want to help you understand from a new perspective what search engine optimization is so you can become a master of it and obviously I've said it multiple times already. S e o stands for search engine optimization. It's ultimately the process of designing, creating, and publishing your content in a way that the search engines are going to love.

Therefore, you and your content will rank highly. Now we're going to go into the theories of how these work. Now, search engine, we're going to start there, right when we talk about search engines, there surely are hundreds and hundreds of different search engines, but we're really talking about to number one is Google and number two is youtube. Those are the number one and two most common search engines on the web. Sure, there's bing, there's Yahoo, there's duck, duck, go.

For this video, we're really talking about Google as number one because of the massive amount of traffic. My wife's website has generated over 33 million visits. Most of those have come from Google because of the content we created and how we created that content. This channel you're watching here on youtube gets displayed for thousands and thousands of keyword phrases. Most of my visits, and most of the people who have found my videos here found me through the search engine of youtube. Many found me from the Google search engine actually. And that's how I've grown this channel to about 6 million views in under three years and over a hundred thousand subscribers in under three years.

So let's break this down. First, you need to learn and understand how the search engines work, and probably more importantly, how the search engines make money. Okay? So when we understand the platform, what their goals are and how they operate, we can then understand what we need to to become a positive partner, because that's the true goal of SEOs become a powerful, positive publishing partner to the platform. A lot of p's right there. So what, how does Google make money? Well, Google has essentially turned itself into the question answer provider for billions and billions people every single day. Google makes money when a user searches for a question, searches for a topic, searches for something, and then the relevant results are displayed with advertising above. And when a user clicks on the advertising, that's when Google makes money. Okay. On Youtube, it's a very similar situation, but it's all done with videos, okay?

If Google starts getting terrible results or if if youtube starts giving rubbish results for your searches, you start searching for how to fix a Kenmore washing machine and all of a sudden you're getting how to fix a lawnmower videos. There's a mismatch in relevance and you're going to stop using that platform, which means they're going to stop being able to display their advertising, which means they don't make any money.

You go somewhere else and it's game over for them. Is this making sense? If Google users start having bad experiences from searching on Google, they're going to go find another search engine that they enjoy more. Same with Youtube. So first and next thing is how does Google and Youtube operate?

Well, the first thing they do is they build an index. It's essentially a database. This means they go out and they've actually literally tried to understand a, they try to find every single page in existence, every single website on the Internet. And then they build an index. They catalog each and every one. Do you remember the Dewey decimal system at the library? It was this big card catalog and you went and you pulled it in the drawer and you're looking up the topic or the book title and it said where to go find it.
