Another Friday and another Google Stadia story… well sort of. Alex Hutchnson, so claimed creative director at Stadia, decided to throw some hot takes into the Twitch DMCA arena. His target? THE GAMERS! This got the attention of popular Twitch Streamers like Dr. Disrespect, and dakotaz, and even an economics professor decided to chime in and call Alex’s take “unbelievable!” What’s more, Hutchinson claiming that he is creative director of Stadia turned out to be a total lie, he’s just the creative director of a studio in Montreal that happens to be owned by Stadia. Microsoft comes to GameStop's rescue Oct 17, 2020

Microsoft has signed a unique deal with GameStop that will allow them to take a lifetime cut of digital game sales purchased from future Xbox’s that they sell in stores. GameStop’s market value has been floundering for the past couple of years and covid has certainly made matters worse for everyone’s ‘favorite’ retail video game store. However, this deal might be the start of something entirely new if Sony decides to sign a similar contract for the PS5. All things considered, this might be the big break GameStop has needed for a while to establish a more forward-looking revenue stream instead of relying solely on used games or game adjacent merchandise. Will it be enough to pull GameStop through another couple of years? We don’t know, but we are definitely going to talk about it on today’s episode of Inside Gaming Daily!

The PS5 UI has finally been revealed. Sony released a video this morning with a complete walkthrough of the PlayStation’s all-new user experience. It may not seem like it but it’s been a long time coming considering the PS5 and Xbox Series X release dates are just weeks away! It’s always great to get an official demo and sure things might change a little bit when the PS5 launches in November but for the most part there seem to be more than few cool new features. A card system that lets you pin guide videos or streams of your friends gameplay, new ways to share screenshots and recorded clips, and overall a kind of overlay ascetic which makes things feel a little more fluid. Amazon Game Studios has just cancelled development on their biggest game, Crucible, in the messiest way possible. After the third person free-to-play hero-shooter was released earlier this year it was promptly returned to the shelf and put in ‘beta’ status. Now, Amazon Game Studios has officially confirmed that Crucible is cancelled development and the game will not be returning to market.

Amazon as a multi-billion dollar mega corporation has been investing a lot of time and money on developing their presence in the games industry, but to what ends? They started by first making Amazon Game Studios, they built Lumberyard their own game engine, they bought up Twitch, and now they are about to launch a new cloud gaming service called Luna.

Amazon has entered a highly competitive market and certainly has a lot of money to burn but with a majority of its investments, like Crucible, erupting into an unmanageable garbage fire we have to ask - how long does Amazon plan to hold out?
