Amazon casually dropped the news this thursday that they would be entering the cloud gaming market with their new service called Luna. Of course if you are familiar with Geforce Now, xCloud, or Stadia you have heard it all before - Play your favorite games anytime from any device using the most advanced cloud technology ever! Of course this hasn’t played out well for Stadia and with Microsoft's xCloud service and Playstation Now already poised to be a leader in this space you have to wonder… How many people are interested in a cloud gaming service provided by Amazon? To be fair Amazon has the advantage of direct Twitch integration and it looks like they have already cleared the iOS App Store hurtle by offering a version of Luna that runs completely in a web browser. So does Luna have potential or is it destined to fail? We discuss on today’s edition on Inside Gaming Daily!

Did Activision get hacked? Sep 24, 2020

Some concerning reports and message board forms are implying that Activision might have experienced a large scale security breach. Specifically, frequent players of Call of Duty have come out to say that they believe their accounts were compromised. Certainly file this one in the rumor category for now as Activision has officially stated reports about Activision Call of Duty accounts being compromised are “not accurate.” However, a large amount of posts and tweets from people who claim to have been compromised have been seen across the internet and it would certainly indicate that something is off. This speculation doesn’t come at a great time for Activision who is ramping up to market the all new Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War coming out this fall. Of course there will be versions of Cold War for the next gen consoles Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and the PS5 but as of right now Activision doesn’t offer two-factor authentication and that maybe enough to scare off a few potential new adopters. So stick around, fire up your sickest battlestations, and get ready to hack into all of this and more on today’s edition of Inside Gaming Daily!

Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S pre orders have come and gone in a flash. However, things didn't go quite as seamless as Microsoft would have expected us to believe. During the PS5 pre order chaos Xbox’s marketing teams and Xbox boss Phil Spencer took the opportunity to remind everyone how orderly and seamless the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S launches would be. However, when the fateful day arrived many excited fans and consumers around the world were disappointed to find empty carts, broken websites, and hours of refreshing multiple browsers. This of course hasn’t stopped Microsoft from boasting the “record breaking” level of interest in the new Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. We aren’t actually quite sure what that means but we’re not going to let that stop us from talking about it on today’s edition of Inside Gaming Daily!

PS5 Digital Edition in super short supply Sep 22, 2020
    Show notes

Head to http://expressvpn.com/insidegaming today to get an extra 3 months free on a 1-year package!

PS5 preorders have been more than a bit touch and go since the price and release date reveal but recent reporting has surfaced that PS5 Digital Edition models are very hard to come by. Game reporters tracking down PS5 availability across the globe have joined forces, shared their napkin math, and it seems that of the PS5 retail stock available for preorder - about eighty percent are fully featured PS5 models while only twenty percent are PS5 Digital Edition models.

While it’s pretty clear to see whats going on Playststion President Jim Ryan commented that, “The ratio between the Digital Edition and the disc drive model is currently something we cannot disclose at this time.” Which of course, indicates Sony is likely trying to becareful not to damage their relationships with retailers who they need to help them sell and distribute the new PS5 consoles.

Of course, an all digital edition of a console is just another deathknell for brick and mortar shops that make money from used and physical game sales so it makes sense good’ol Jim Ryan might be a little hesitant to speak on the matter. However, priced $100 bucks cheaper and packing the same amount of console power as it’s bigger brother, the PS5 Digital Edition could be an easy sell to a wider demographic of Playstation players. Unfortunately, that means they are gonna be extra hard to find online or otherwise.

If the PS5 Digital Edition becomes available, would you buy one instead of the standard model? Let us know in the comments below, on today’s episode of Inside Gaming Daily!

Microsoft is set to buy Bethesda in an earth-shattering deal announced by the Windows creator this morning. The Xbox Series X creator will now be adding the studios behind Fallout, Doom, Skyrim, Dishonored, Wolfenstein, Starfield, Rage, all of the other Elder Scrolls and more. This news has come at a pivotal time for the Xbox Series S and the Xbox Series X which are set to launch this November and have been criticized for their lack of exclusive titles. Of course, we’ll have to wait and see just how much the Bethesda acquisition shapes things like, exclusivity, services like Game Pass, and PC versions of Xbox owned IP... However, it’s safe to say this is a big surprise and an even bigger big deal that will be felt throughout the entire industry. Bethesda has published some of the most successful and recognizable games in video game history and now that creative legacy will continue on under the Xbox Game Studios banner. Join us today on Inside Gaming as we sort through the details and count Microsoft's $7.5 Billion dollar purchase price one bill at a time.

    PS5 boss trashes Xbox Series S Sep 18, 2020

PS5 and Playstation boss Jim Ryan must be feeling good after the whole PS5 preorder debacle because he’s taking shots at the competition. Specifically, the Xbox Series S. The console wars have truly arrived in a more official capacity than usual because Sony and Microsoft usually pretend each other don’t exist while doing the equivalent of subtweeting through press releases and marketing. Of course, early this week Microsoft came out and said that the Xbox Series S will be running last-gen versions of cross-gen games but as a result of having less power it’s also much cheaper. The Series S at $300 is competitively priced to appeal to the budget gamer and parents across the world. However, to Jim’s credit the cheaper PS5 Digital Edition is a full fledged next-gen console… but his claims that, lower priced or reduced spec’s console don’t traditionally do well, have left a lot of fans and critics scratching their heads. Let’s see if we can find out if we can parse out what the ‘ol Playstation boss was trying to say, today on Inside Gaming Daily!

PS5 preorders have been a a bit of a frantic mess as game enthusiasts everywhere rush to digital storefronts or even their local GameStops to try and snag the newest Playstation. There was even some confusion from Sony as they claimed there would be ample warning and messaging around when the PS5 would be available to purchase. However, that didn’t stop Walmart from opening up PS5 preorders early and as a result many other retailers followed suit. Within hours of the PS5 price reveal and showcase claims and receipts on Twitter started showing up for secured PS5 preorders from Target, Best Buy, GameStop and others. While it’s awesome the next generation of consoles is finally here, snagging a PS5 at launch might be a little harder than anyone anticipated during these “trying times.” So...tune in to Inside Gaming Daily or whatever, while we frantically refresh all these browser windows.

The PS5 is taking some heat just a day before its big launch date and price announcement. Sony has potentially hit a bit of a snag with manufacturing the next-gen console according to a recent Bloomberg report. The post claims the number of PS5 units projected to be sold by March has decreased from fifteen million to eleven million units due to an issue fabricating chips for the PS5. The article continues and suggests the system-on-chip process is facing about a fifty percent failure rate which is going to set Sony back more than a few shekels as they take losses on bad chips and readjust their projections based on availability. While selling 11 million Playstations by March is still an incredibly ambitious goal - failing chips aren’t the only factor causing the cost of producing the PS5 to rise. We’ll get you caught up on all the details just in time for tomorrow’s big launch announcement which you can be sure we’ll be talking about tomorrow right here, on Inside Gaming Daily!

The Xbox Series S will not run Xbox Series X versions of backward compatible games. A recent story by VGC previously reported on by Digital Foundry has been confirmed by Microsoft. In short, the Xbox Series S will not be able to play any “enhanced for Series X” games. It will instead run the Xbox One S versions with some slight upgrades. It’s a weird limitation to be sure considering the Xbox Series X will be able to play next-gen titles at 1440p. To make matters worse the titles and naming conventions are making it easy to get things twisted and even major outlets are taking heat for reporting on the differences between the Xbox Series X, Series S, One S, and One X. Not us though, we have explained it perfectly....cough. Anyways, keep watching Inside Gaming Daily and we’ll see you tomorrow!
