    Adam Peterman is the 2022 Western States Champion on the men’s side. This was actually his debut 100 mile race! This hasn’t happened since the 1980s. Adam ran for the University of Colorado and he was a steeplechaser. Just in the last year, Adam has started ultrarunning and he has been on a tear winning most ultras that he signs up for and breaking course records! He is sponsored by Hoka.

    Episode 404: Helen Schlachtenhaufen – Breakthroughs in 2021: 5th at the Olympic Trials in the 1500 & Recently Signed with Nike Aug 05, 2022

    Helen Schlachtenhaufen is a 1500m runner. She recently placed 6th at the USATF Championships in the 1500m. Last summer she placed 5th at the Olympic Trials, missing 3rd place by just 2 seconds. She then went on to run her personal best in the 1500m in 4:01 at her first Diamond League in Sweden. Helen ran for Dartmouth and also ran for the Saucony Freedom Track Club for a little bit after college. She now runs for Nike which she announced back in March.

    Today we are wrapping up our Nutrition for Athletes Series. We are finishing up this series with another episode with my friend, sports dietitian, Anna Turner.

    In this episode, we talk about balancing our meals with carbs, protein, and fat and what percentages of each of those should land on our plates. Anna breaks down what different athlete plates look like depending on the intensity of your workouts. She also breaks down carbohydrates and how many carbohydrates you need while fueling for endurance events.

    Dr. Richey Hansen is a former collegiate distance runner for UC San Diego. He has been coaching in Boulder since 2009. He is a doctor of chiropractic with a specialty in sports medicine and is also getting his MBA right now. He is the head coach at Roots Running Project. Some of his athletes include Noah Droddy, Alia Gray (who is also his wife), Frank Lara, Maggie Montoya, and the list goes on! Alia and Richey recently announced that they have a baby on the way.

    Richey is a wealth of knowledge and he was a really inspiring and interesting interview.

    Gabi Rooker took her marathon from 2:54:57 at Grandma’s Marathon in 2021 to 2:34:57 this year at Grandma’s Marathon. This race qualified her for the Olympic Trials in the marathon. We get to hear all about that and what that looked like taking her time down by 20 minutes. She grew up as a gymnast and now works as a PA so she has a pretty nontraditional path to marathoning. It was so much fun to hear from Gabi and learn more about her!

    Dakotah Lindwurm recently won the 2022 Grandma’s Marathon. She also won the race in 2021. She ran a huge PR in 2:25:01.     Episode 397: Sarah Sellers; Second place at Grandma’s Marathon Jul 14, 2022

    Sarah Sellers finished second at Grandma’s Marathon in June! This was a really big day for the marathoner who placed second at the Boston Marathon in 2018.

    In this episode we catch up on the last couple of years. Sarah shares about life after placing second in Boston and the Olympic Marathon Trials in 2020 where she placed 11th and snuck in a tiny PR on a very difficult course.

    Sarah gave birth to her first child in January of 2021 and she shares about her post partum experience in this episode as well. She is open and honest about some things she would have done differently and I hope people listening will choose to listen with kindness and grace!
