    Another Olympic Trials post race interview today! Jess Tonn McClain joins me today after her 4th place finish at the trials this past weekend. She ran such a strong race!! She is now your 2024 Olympic Marathon alternate for Team USA. She ran a four-minute PR in this race to run a 2:25:46.

    This was only Jess’ third marathon. She ran the Grandma’s Marathon last summer in 2:29:25 and placed fourth. She also ran the Mesa Marathon in 2022. She talks about her progression and why she decided to run a marathon.

    She is a former 5000m runner, that is what she was most known for during her professional running career post-college a few years back. She was an All-American at Stanford University.

    Jess trained for this race all on her own. She coached herself and is unsponsored. She is doing things her way which she talks about in this episode!

    Jess is also an Executive Director at Love Up which is an organization that supports the foster care system in Arizona! She is also a marketing consultant.

    Episode 512: Dakotah Lindwurm – Third at the US Olympic Marathon Trials and Heading to the 2024 Olympics in Paris! Feb 05, 2024

    Dakotah Lindwurm joins me today fresh off of the Olympic Trials where she was third place and secured her spot on the 2024 Olympic Team for the USA! She ran the race of her life and finished in 2:25:31. She breaks down the whole race for us in this episdoe! Dakotah runs for PUMA and Minnesota Distance Elite. She has a marathon PR of 2:24:40 and is a multiple time Grandma’s Marathon champion. She walked on to her college team. She was 36th at the 2020 Olympic Marathon Trials.

    Dakotah is such a joy to watch compete. She has so much fun and works so hard. She tells us all about her mindset leading up to this race and her training block leading up to it. This was such a fun one and I’m so excited to get to chat with her today!!

    Happy Olympic Trials marathon weekend! Such an exciting weekend.

    Today on the podcast, I am interviewing the race director for the Shamrock Marathon and the co-owner of J&A Racing, Amy Frostick. I am so excited to connect with the Shamrock Marathon this year. I’ll be at the race hosting a meetup and doing some fun stuff at the expo. This race is the weekend of March 15-17. It is festive and it is fun!     Episode 510: Sara Vaughn – 2:23 Marathoner, Realtor, and Mom of 4 Headed to Orlando for the Olympic Marathon Trials Feb 01, 2024

    Sara Vaughn joins me right ahead of the trials today! Sara is competing in the Olympic Trials Marathon this weekend! She runs for PUMA. This past fall she ran a huge 3-minute PR at the Chicago Marathon where she ran a 2:23:24. Sara has been marathoning for three years now after she was originally a 1500m runner. She ran for CU in college and went on to run professionally on the track and ran unsponsored for over a decade. After turning to the marathon, she became sponsored by PUMA. Sara is also a realtor and a fellow mom of four!

    I want to highlight one of the things that Sara does outside of running. She started the Vaughn Childcare Fund which has a mission to support parenting student-athletes with resources to get to graduation. Sara had her first child while in college at CU and has a passion to help others who find themselves in similar situations!

    Episode 509: Aliphine Tuliamuk – 2020 Olympic Marathon Trials Champion on Motherhood and her Training Leading into the Olympic Marathon Trials Jan 30, 2024

    I’m so excited to bring you the returning champion from the 2020 Olympic Marathon trials! It’s race week and I am so excited to chat with Aliphine ahead of the race!

    Aliphine won the Olympic Marathon Trials in 2020 and went on to have her first child in January of 2021. Over the past couple of years since the Olympic Trials and the Olympics, she has run several PRs. In 2022, she ran a PR at the NYC Marathon and placed 7th. This was her first time placing top 10 in a World Marathon Major. She ran 2:26:18 at that race. This past spring at the Boston Marathon, she was 11th and ran 2:24:37.

    In this episode, she talks about what it feels like going into this race being the returning champion, what her build looked like, and how her perspective has shifted since becoming a mother and racing and training.

    I’m so excited to be joined today by Lauren Hagans! Lauren runs for NAZ Elite and has been training with them since 2020. She used to specialize in the 5k/10k and was even an 800m runner in college! She has recently debuted in the marathon at Grandma’s Marathon this past June. She won the race in 2:25:55. The Olympic Trials marathon here in a couple of weeks will be her second marathon!

    Lauren recently ran a PR in the half marathon in Valencia of 69:40. I am so excited for her and all of her recent progress. She is so fit and ready for the trials!

    In this episode, we hear all about her debut marathon, how she is feeling heading into her second marathon at the Olympic Trials, and what her training is looking like. We also get to hear some updates about her team at NAZ Elite and working with her coaches, Jenna and Jack.

    Episode 507: Kellyn Taylor – Mom of Four, 2:24 Marathoner for NAZ Elite Ready for Another Olympic Trials Marathon Jan 19, 2024

    Alright, friends. This is a special one! Kellyn Taylor is joining me on the podcast today! I am stoked to see what Kellyn is going to do at the Olympic Trials is just a few weeks!

    This is Kellyn’s third appearance on my podcast. She came on way back on episode 125 in 2018, we then did a live show with NYRR in 2019 with Sara Hall and Roberta Groner, and then she came on the podcast for episode 229 right before the Olympic Trials with her teammates Steph Bruce and Aliphine Tuliamuk.

    Kellyn has been running for NAZ Elite and Hoka for years. She has been on that team since it was founded with coach Ben Rosario. Kellyn has had multiple top ten finishes at the NYC marathon and she is a 2:24 marathoner. She is the mom of four and gave birth to a baby girl just a little over a year ago! She ran her first postpartum marathon at the NYC marathon this past fall. She was the top American running 2:29:48.

    Episode 506: Dom Scott – Two-Time Olympian for South Africa Going after her Third Marathon at Boston Jan 12, 2024

    I’m excited to have a conversation with Dom Scott on the podcast today! I had the opportunity to talk to her right before the Chicago Marathon in the fall and she was just so fun and so easy to talk to so we had to have her on the podcast.

    Dom just announced that she is going to be running the Boston Marathon this spring! That will be her third marathon. She debuted the marathon at the London Marathon in the spring of 2023 running 2:29:19. She ran Chicago in the fall and ran 2:27:31. She’ll kick off the Boston Marathon build with a race at the Mesa Half Marathon.

    Previously, Dom has been a 5k and 10k runner and is a two-time Olympian for South Africa. She is a four-time NCAA Champion for the University of Arkansas. She trains with Team Boss and is sponsored by Adidas!

    Today on the podcast, I am joined by Erica Stanley-Dottin! I am so excited to share this one, such a fun and casual conversation to kick off the new year!

    Erica is an incredible athlete and mother. She has a marathon PR of 2:52 which she ran in Berlin in 2022. She just ran another 2:52 at the Valencia Marathon. She is a part of the Black Roses NYC running group. She was the 25th Black American woman to run a sub three hour marathon.

    Erica works for Tracksmith in NYC and she calls herself a Culture Producer. In her previous job, she was an event producer and an actual producer, so she is combining all of her passions with this job! We talk all about that in this episode and hear about her role at Tracksmith

    Erica has also crossed over the 50-year-old mark and of course we talk about that. We talk all about running and aging and all the things with age! We also kick off the episode talking about raising her kids in NYC because I am just so curious about that topic.

    Chanelle Price joins me on the podcast today. Chanelle is a retired professional 800m runner. She ran professionally for Nike. She won the 2014 World Indoor Championships in the 800m. She is also a 3-time Gold Medalist in the 4x800m at the World Relay Championships. She is a 1:58 800m runner.

    Chanelle ran for the University of Tennessee. She was a standout phenom athlete in high school. She entered college as the Gatorade Athlete of the Year coming out of high school.
