I'll Call You Right Back #118 - Flat Earth May 21, 2020

Show notes

This week, I try and find out if the earth is flat. Now before you think less of me, I want you to know that before my research I couldn't have be less concerned about if the Flat Earth Theory was even worth looking into. I didn't even consider it. Well... here I am now. I have about 4 hours of research in and believe it or not, I am still not convinced. However, I am interested in reading into it more. This week is basically just on overview of what I came across right from the jump. There are interesting points and a lot of people trying to prove their side of the debate. I had fun reading about all of it. Hopefully, I can line up a 'Flat Earther' to answer some questions live for next weeks episode but until then, enjoy the episode. Thanks for listening, as always.

I'll Call You Right Back #117 - The X-Files May 07, 2020

Show notes

This week, I talk to a few people who have had experiences with UFO's. I have always been curious about aliens and I figured, why wouldn't I do an episode like this! I made a post about wanting to find people who had some stories and these are it. I hate the feel of these alien shows we have on tv. It always seems like the people who are telling the stories are something set up. So now I got to find my own people. I think this episode was awesome. In an infinite universe, it's hard for me to think that it's just us. Listen to what they have to say. You can be the judge. The truth gotta be out there, right? And I get it. Some people might say this is all bullshit but I don't got time for that negativity in my life. I believe there is some crazy shit out there so who am I to not believe anything of what these people said. I'm sure everyone feels that way until it happens to them.

I'll Call You Right Back #116 - Tony Robbins Apr 30, 2020

Show notes

This week, I talk with you about Tony Robbins. You might know of Tony Robbins from the late night infomercials, motivational speaking, self help books, or the guy who alters Jack Blacks view on women in Shallow Hal. Yes, the guy who looks like a giant. I watched his documentary called "I am not your guru" on netflix and knew I had to look into what this guy is all about. Tony Robbins is wildly successful. He is currently worth around $500,000,000. People pay thousands and thousands of dollars to go see his seminars to "unleash the power within!" I was super curious of his qualifications after watching the Doc so I hopped on the ole inter webs and started to look into it. This episode is all about where he grew up, his background, how he got into self help, his schooling, and all the negative shit people have to say about him. I hope you enjoy the episode and thanks for listening as usual!

I'll Call You Right Back #115 - Chefs' Warehouse Apr 23, 2020

Show notes

This week, I sit down with Harry Lorusso. Harry works for a great company called Chefs' Warehouse. For 35 years, Chefs' Warehouse has been working directly with numerous restaurants in our city and all over the nation to make sure they are stocked up with all the best meats, cheeses, and everything else they need to make all the food we love. Due to the COVID pandemic we are in, Chefs Warehouse decided to open its website and delivery service up to all of us at home. Chefs Warehouse will now be offering grocery home delivery right to your door. This week, Harry and I talk all about how a food delivery company is handling what's happening in the world today. We talk about where they source their products from, how they manage to deliver to the door, the learning curve and problem solving on going from a restaurant delivery company to offering home delivery and so much more. This whole conversation is super interesting. It's wild to hear about how they are adapting and the platform they are now offering to all of us. Thanks for listening! - You can go to shop.chefswarehouse.com right now and order all the products you find at your local grocery stores, right to your front door. We need to keep a handle on the safety of our community so this is a great opportunity to take advantage of.

I'll Call You Right Back #114 - Nikola Tesla Apr 17, 2020

Show notes

This week, we learn about the one and only, Nikola Tesla! This dude was so ahead of his time, people thought he was crazy. I, for one, knew nothing of Tesla. I feel like we didn't learn too much about him in school which really surprised me after doing my research. The things this man accomplished were astonishing. He's responsible for so many of the comforts we have in this world today. From the radio to the power outlets in your house, these were all possible because of this man. This is a really good episode and I hope you enjoy learning about him as much as I did. Thanks for listening!

I'll Call You Right Back #113 - Cults Apr 09, 2020

Show notes

This week, I sit down and find out a little more about Cults. A cult is a bizarre idea to me. When I was growing up, when I heard the word cult, I would either think of Heavens Gate, The Jonestown Massacre, or Religion. Chill... I'm not comparing religion to Heavens Gate or Jonestown, I'm just saying that's what pops into my head. Although, there's a blurry line between cults and religion, I don't get too deep into what that line is. In this episode, I deep dive into The Jonestown Massacre and Heavens Gate and I learn about them. What were they? Who started them? What was the reason? Why the hell did all these "followers" believe some crazy ass people talking wild out the side of their neck. What made them follow someone so fully that it caused them to willingly kill themselves for their beliefs. This week was a little wild reading and listening all about these topics but I enjoyed it. I hope you enjoy it too.

I'll Call You Right Back #110 - The Brothmonger Mar 19, 2020

Show notes

This week, I sit down with the The Brothmonger. Sarah is the local Kingpin in the 'Delicious Homemade Soup Game.' Her Instagram is an online shop in which she sells two different delicious handmade soups each week. After finding cooking a little later in life, Sarah kind of became obsessed. She just starting making all kinds of things. She had an interaction with Rick Sebak at the Vintage Mixer a couple months ago and Rick bought a few of her soups. He posted some rave reviews of the Brothmongers work and ever since, business has been boomin. What do you expect when you get a co-sign from a foodie like Mr. Sebak? We talk about so much awesome stuff in this episode. I'm so thankful to have this platform to be able to just talk to awesome people like Sarah and the rest of my guests. - We're in a crazy time right now. Whether you believe the severity of this virus is bullshit or not, It's happening. This doesn't sit well with me and I know we gotta take this shit serious but I wanted to keep pushing out podcasts so people can have a way to get away from this chaos for a little and learn about some cool people doing cool stuff going on around us. Please remember that if you can do it, find some of your favorite small businesses and buy a gift card or a piece of merch to help get them through this time. Let's try and be helpful, proactive, safe, thoughtful, and please wash your damn hands!

Order some soup!

I'll Call You Right Back #109 - Tall Cathy Mar 12, 2020

Show notes

This week, I stop by the iHeartRadio Studio to sit down with another face on the Mt Rushmore of Pittsburgh Radio. Tall Cathy has been a radio personality on 96.1 KissFM for some time now. She makes us laugh while we're sitting in traffic on our way home from work, and she also handles a lot of stuff behind the scenes so I wanted to have her on to tell me all about how she got started in radio. We talk about everything from Howie Mandel's Mysophobia (fear of germs) to how the structure of the radio show is built, to how the regularly scheduled program has to change at the drop of a hat when we all experience a great tragedy in pop culture like losing Mac Miller or Kobe Bryant. This is a really great episode. I loved talking with Cathy and learning a little more about the day to day function of the best station in the Burgh, KISSFM. Enjoy it!
