Let's Pregame for LOKI on Disney Plus! May 08, 2021

Show notes

LET'S VOTE LOKI! Join me in getting ready for the upcoming Disney+ series staring the God of Mischief himself, LOKI...aka my favorite British accent-wielder, Tom Hiddleston. I start off by discussing some big Marvel news and reveals that we were BLESSED with this week. Then, I go into the MCU films you'll need to watch before the series comes out in June 2021. I introduce you to a few characters that you'll (most likely? possibly? maybe? not likely?) be meeting in the show itself, and I end it with some comic book recommendations that'll help you get a better feel for Thor's "adopted brother."

This episode contains a voice messages/comments from one of my favorite listeners known as OG SMART ASS (@ogxsmartass on Instagram)!

Starting your MCU journey with the Disney+ shows, such as WandaVision or The Falcon and the Winter Soldier? Check out all of my WandaVision [bonus] episodes spanning episodes 1-9 of the HIT series, as well as all of my Falcon and the Winter Soldier episodes... whether you want a compliment for the viewing experience or you just want some additional laughs or commentary during your week.

Diversity Fish & Chicken Feet! May 06, 2021

Show notes

It’s an all-Bravo reality tv round-up episode, since Married at First Sight decided to trick fans into watching Unmatchables instead of showing the season finale AKA Decision Day! We now have three shows airing reunions, which THANKFULLY means that they are all coming to a conclusion: Real Housewives of Atlanta, Real Housewives of Dallas, and Summer House. This also means we’re ushering in our summer viewing schedule, which includes this week’s new addition of the Real Housewives of New York! YAY! One word: EBONI! Enough said! Plus, I continue to go UP (and it’s STUCK) for Married to Medicine, and I discuss why EVERYONE needs to stay out of Dolores Catania’s business!

Timestamps are as follows:

7:00 - Real Housewives of New Jersey (featuring comments from JV from Chicago and Semajh from the “Me: I am Cancelled” podcast)

19:00 - Real Housewives of Atlanta reunion (featuring comments from Semajh from the “Me: I am Cancelled” podcast...sort of...)

34:25 - Real Housewives of New York (featuring comments from Sheresa from Chicago)

48:30 - Real Housewives of Dallas (featuring comments from Selle from the “Who Asked Me” podcast)

1:00:15 - Summer House (featuring comments from JV from Chicago)

1:08:35 - Married to Medicine

Marvel-less? STAY MARVELOUS LIKE MIDGE! [Bonus Episode] May 01, 2021

Show notes

BONUS EPISODE! No new Marvel content this week, but THAT’S OK! WE’RE OK! WE ARE OK, RIGHT?! RIGHT?! WELL AREN’T WE?! Inhale…. Exhale. Ok, so no new Marvel content until “Loki” premieres on Disney+ in June, but there is still a lot of other non-Marvel superhero-esque and sci-fi affiliated programming for us to consume. I talk everything from Amazon’s “Invincible” to DC’s “Birds of Prey” to random sci-fi gem “Code 8.” BUT… this is YOUR EPISODE! That’s right: every single section is accompanied by a listener-submitted voice message to tell you why he/she loves that particular media. We won’t steer you wrong! WE PROMISE! Get in here and listen to some of these suggestions to make this time without Marvel much more tolerable.

This episode contains listener voice messages/comments from Katie, Stephanie from the “Mocha Minutes” podcast, Nick, Semajh from the “Me I Am; Cancelled” podcast, Donny from “Know That: a Real Housewives Podcast” and “Truly Anything” podcast, Eugene from the “Problem Addict” podcast, Ashleigh, and Arturo.

2 Finales & a Reunion Walk into a Clubhouse... Apr 29, 2021

Show notes

After last week’s emergency episode (DOCTOR KENDRICK TO THE RESCUE), we’re back into the normal swing of things with hilariously SHADY reality television commentary and even SHADIER listener commentary! We’ve got a Housewives reunion (RHOA), two Bravo finales (RHOD and Summer House), and one of the greatest reality tv episodes in recent history (Married to Medicine). We also gotta discuss Married at FIrst Sight because it is ALMOST Decision Day! Plus… we got some Frank Catania/Joe Gorga MANLOVE, so… it’s a good day. It almost makes up for that… ahem… lackluster reunion. Oh RHOA… you know what? No, I won’t do this! Just make sure, Bravo, that you take my suggestions for next season that I outlined in the “Kendrick Tucker, M.D. - Bravo Doctor” podcast episode from last week, OKURR?!

Timestamps are as follows:

6:20 - Real Housewives of Atlanta reunion part 1 (featuring comments from Deomar aka @indaxwetrust on Instagram)

30:45 - Married to Medicine

44:25 - Real Housewives of Dallas finale (featuring comments from Semajh of the “Me I Am: Cancelled” podcast)

53:30 - Summer House finale (featuring comments from Nela of the “Fix My Life” podcast)

1:07:15 - Married at First Sight

1:18:30 - Real Housewives of New Jersey (featuring comments from Semajh of the “Me I Am: Cancelled” podcast)

It's a Bird! It's a Plane! It's... BLACK FALCON! [FATWS Finale] Apr 24, 2021

Show notes

It's here! The finale of the Falcon and the Winter Soldier (or as we NOW call it: Captain America and the Winter Soldier) has arrived, and it was as great as I thought it would be! Seeing the new vibranium costume was enough to wet my whistle, but the action that followed was chef's kiss. Now, I did have a few gripes with the finale and/or season as a whole, but they don't overshadow my overall feelings about the latest MCU outing! Get in here so we can discuss race, gender, and politics, as well as have some laughs at the expense of John Walker's tin can shield.

This episode contains listener voice messages/comments from Semajh from the "Me I Am: Cancelled" podcast, listener known as OG Smartass, listener JV from Chicago, Rae from "Marvel Stuff Podcast," Danielle from the Instagram account "Brands by Bravo," and Stephanie from the "Mocha Minutes" podcast.

Kendrick Tucker, M.D. - Bravo Doctor Apr 22, 2021

Show notes

SPECIAL EPISODE! Today, I put a stethoscope around my neck and an N95 mask across my mouth and nose, and I became KENDRICK TUCKER, M.D.! Some of our favorite Bravo shows are on life support, but no worries! I AM HERE! I break down the four Bravo shows that have finaled or are finaling, AND I PERFORM SURGERY! Contessa Kendrick Allegra de la Fontaine [FATWS Episode 5] Apr 17, 2021

Show notes

OH LORD! Only one episode of the Falcon and the Winter Soldier left! Don’t worry though… We still have episode five to discuss in its ENTIRETY. And what an episode it was. The conversation between two black men of different generations that we get on this episode is worth the entire series alone; once you add in their shared military background and the fact that they’ve both wielded the Captain America shield, you get a layered discussion about past experiences that still resonate in today’s America. PLUS (hard right turn), did we get the confirmation of yet another Young Avenger during this episode? I THINK SO! AND THAT CAMEO! WHAT?! Join me in my breakdown of this episode, as well as my predictions for the post-credits scenarios that could possibly occur in the finale.

This episode contains listener voice messages/comments from Katie from Kentucky, Tina from California, and Kaya from the “Bravo While Black” podcast.

Winter Is Coming... And Bringing Ice Queen Erika Jayne! Apr 15, 2021

Show notes

New week, new TRANSITIONS, same ole shows! This latest episode of the Real Housewives of Atlanta set us up for what I'm sure will be an epic finale at LAKE BAILEY! Toya on Married to Medicine dug up friends from the pits of hell and brought them around Heaven...ly. The couples on Married at First Sight are still... just awful. But the big piece of news this week was the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills trailer being released! Erika Jayne's divorce and legal woes are at the center of the trailer... well, they're the only thing discussed in the trailer. The listeners and I break it and all of the aforementioned shows down for you, along with the Real Housewives of Dallas, Summer House, and the Real Housewives of New Jersey.

Timestamps are as follows:

2:30 - Real Housewives of Beverly Hills trailer (with comments from Sherese from Chicago, Lily from Seattle, and JV from Chicago)

12:45 - Real Housewives of Atlanta (with comments from Lily from Seattle and Eugene from Brooklyn)

37:25 - Real Housewives of Dallas

50:25 - Summer House

1:03:45 - Married to Medicine (with comments from Steve from @FacesbyBravo Instagram account)

1:21:25 - Married at First Sight

1:37:15 - Real Housewives of New Jersey

I'm Bald & Black. Can I be a Dora Milaje?! [FATWS Episode 4] Apr 10, 2021

Show notes

Where... where do I apply to be in the Dora Milaje? Do I have to be a citizen of Wakanda first? I mean, I've always wanted to be Wakandan, but... you know... you gotta fly through a very specific hidden coordinate to get there, and I can't pilot a plane, so... there's that. EPISODE 4 OF THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER GAVE ME EVERYTHING I NEEDED ON A FRIDAY, especially when it wasn't a pay day Friday. We got a reminder as to why the Dora Milaje ARE THE BADDEST IN THE LAND (shoutout to all of the HBCU majorettes out there), we saw John Walker get his ass kicked, and we saw an arm removal performed by someone other than a surgeon. What more do you need?!

This episode contains listener voice messages/comments from Katie from Kentucky, Lily from Washington, Pat from "Yet Another MCU Podcast," and Curt from "Marvel What Now?".

Show notes

Not as many reality tv shows to discuss this week as we've approached season finales and mid-season breaks, but we still got PLENTY of content... thanks to Bravo and Lifetime! The ladies of the Real Housewives of Atlanta are still down in NOLA, and SO IS BIG FREEDIA! YOU ALREADY KNOOOOW! While Marlo inserts herself in the drama, the other shows that take place in Atlanta (Married to Medicine and Married at First Sight) do what needs to be done! BYE CHRIS AND PAIGE! CAN'T SAY I'LL MISS YOU! We also discuss the latest episodes of the Real Housewives of Dallas, Summer House, and the Real Housewives of New Jersey (R.I.P. Nono)!
