    "Veterans Day 2019" w/ Tributes Nov 11, 2019
    Show notes

Veterans Day on a Veterans Podcast! I can't think of a better way to spend a Veterans Day than talking to a Veteran about the great Veterans that mentored, motivated and instilled that fighting spirit in other Veterans. The episode could have been all day long, but we settled on something manageable for the listeners. We reached out to Veterans and family members through social media and got seven that wanted to give some shout-outs to great Veterans. All of these Veterans, including our co-host Duane O'Keefe, said that they could have used 5-mins to get everything out. Lots of dedication left out there and that sure feels good.

Had some great guests come on to be apart of this episode, really letting the Veterans that influenced them know. From Grandfathers to coaches, Aunts and Uncles, neighbors and leaders, whom effect their lives, changed them. A small tribute to them from these individuals:

Joshua Floyd, Jason Markum, Ruban Valdez, Josh Atchley, Nancy Finley, Buck Campbell and Billy Blakeslee. Thank you all for being apart of this. Duane and I set out to celebrate the people who not only set the foundation, but the ones with steady hands who guided us along the way. What a powerful testament to share, thank you again for being apart of this.

Everyone have an amazing Veterans Day, don't need a day here on the podcast...always Veterans Day here. Many blessings to all and stay safe out there.

Veterans Chat Ep.016 w/ Billy Price "Maple Syrup Tradition" Nov 08, 2019
    Show notes

"Maple Syrup Tradition" w/ Billy Price co-hosting today. What a wonderful time to sit back and have a chat with one of my favorite brothers, Billy is up in Western NY and he has a family tradition of being outdoors. His grandfather was an Army Veteran, served in Korea and was declared "Missing in Action" during a fight where only 12-members returned. His grandfather got him started at a young age making maple syrup and Billy shares that passion passed on with us.

I came into this episode knowing Billy and that is it!! I love maple syrup, but knew very little about how it is made. From "sugar shacks", not the one up on North Shore where all teachers use to hangout either, this is where you boil the sap from Sugar Maple (Acer saccharum) tree down to make the syrup. At this time of year, November, this is the time to stock that shack up and prepare to get to it. To get the sap, Billy goes out and "Taps" some trees, utilizing "Spiles" to funnel the sap into buckets. Collect this up 40 gallons of sap and you can make 1 gallon of Syrup!! Last year Billy and his family produced 50 gallons of syrup, that is a lot of work, but HMMMMM Good! Go out and give it a try, let us know how it goes.

Thank you Billy, it was great to chat with you. Great info for Veterans to prepare for syrup making season in the early spring.

Veterans Chat Ep.015 w/ Billy Blakeslee "Thanksgiving Turkey Prep" Nov 06, 2019
    Show notes

A great friend of mine and new to the podcast, Billy Blakeslee joins the show today to talk about getting the best turkey prepared on Thanksgiving for you and your family. Billy cooks all the meats for his family, providing tasty nutrition for his family. He takes it serious, he will never "bake" a turkey or sit at a table with one on it! He smokes his turkey and he has an excellent process that is easy to follow. Not to be left with just smoking, Billy and I talk about different ways to give your Thanksgiving crowd the "Meat Sweats"! Enjoy the show and listen for Billy back on here soon. Be safe out there this year and enjoy!!

Saga Ep.023 w/ Seth Rodenbaugh "Spirit Up, Head Down" Sep 20, 2019
    Show notes

Seth Rodenbaugh busts out he “Monkey” and assumes co-hosting duties on the show today and what an amazing conversation it was. Seth has been fighting, testing his skills and fighting again for a long time, his is driven to it. From boxing before the military, Seth build on the “Warrior Spirit” and joined the Army the day after 9/11, serving in Hawaii as a Scout Sniper and Team Leader in Afghanistan. While deployed Seth was injured in an IED, something that changed the course of his deployment. These life changing events kept occurring across Seth’s path. The day after he departed the Army from his injuries he was in the gym working out. He had been bit by the combative bug while in Hawaii and he had skills and focus to do it. Working his way through being a Veteran and the mixed martial arts ranks was beneficial for Seth’s transition, but the next life changing/enhancing experience was becoming a Father. Listen to Seth tell how he lives an amazing life as a “Side Kick” to his son Cannon.

    ***Update***

I was contacted by a Veteran, who listened to a few episodes, he was in the Denver area and was in a situation that he was not prepared for. Contacted Seth and let him know the situation, they talked and got things going. Right now, this Veteran’s little boy is very well taken care of and the Veteran can go to work so he doesn’t get fired. He will get plugged into the Veteran Community there in Denver and hopefully good things happen.

We put good things in front of Veterans here, folks. This episode hasn’t even come out yet, the energy from it was all that was needed to bring the first sign of help. Blessed and humbled over here. Stay on it folks!

    Veterans Chat Ep.014 "Mothers" Sep 18, 2019
    Show notes

Mothers, without them we wouldn't be here. Sounds pretty simple, but when you're a military Mother the feel is different. This episode is not the flashy kind, it is very simple and covers some history. I have added a bit of my own feelings about Mothers to this episode. My hope for this episode is that Veterans and folks out there can see their own Mothers in a different light, reach out to them and just let them know what's going on. Don't let your Mother not understand you, help her, talk to her, let her know that you're okay. She maybe the one that can help you get over that rough patch or say it just the way you need it. Patch up those relationships if they've been hit hard, if you can see yourself over it, bend the knee and give her some of your time, let her see you. Give her some love if you can. Get in there folks, these Momma's are gems and they won't be in our lives forever, get your arms around em. Have a blessed week and talk with ya Friday. Great episode coming out.

    Show notes

Richard Rowland assumes co-hosting duties on todays episode and weaves us through his time in Vietnam, Camp Eagle, where he did two tours. His story is one of challenges and a heaping helping of Hope. Upon his return he dealt with alcoholism, PTSD, disappointment and a feeling like he hadn't served enough. To fill this hole he joined the Kentucky State Police and retired as a Sergeant after 28 years. He started and operated Double R Stables in Kentucky, while there with life going his way, he was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma Cancer in August 2008 and was given three years to live. Facing this, he got mad and this started the changes he needed to truly live. Obviously, Richard has lived longer than three years and is thriving in Maine. Through his love of animals, he saw the beginnings of his change. He was writing his stories down and has published "Unspoken Messages" and "A Glimpse Behind the Veil" will be out in 2020. Through his journey he has developed an ability to connect with people and change lives. Along with his book he has a blog that he updates as he is moved through his life, subscribe to it so you get the new ones at www.richarddrowlandbooks.com. Great episode and very easy going, enjoy!

Veterans Chat Ep.013 w/ Matt Hamm "Space Travel" Sep 04, 2019
    Show notes

A second installment of Veterans Chat, catch a conversation that has value and go in-depth on it as recorded material. Sounds pretty easy huh? Well, sometimes you get a bit "spacey" and I don't mean Kevin. Have a listen as I talk with Matt, an Air Force Veteran and newly minted OSU Graduate, as we chat about what it takes to get to another planet, still be able to function, develop structures and build a civilization. Yes, this is a crazy subject, but one that is fun to explore when you have someone with some speculative power to go with real knowledge, so thanks for bringing the knowledge Matt. Enjoy and once again, it is super easy to put out an episode on the podcast, just reach out and let's make it happen.

Saga Ep.021 w/ Ted Snyder "Plan Your Mission" Aug 30, 2019
    Show notes

Ted "Doc" Snyder pulls a shift as co-host today and he brings 24yrs of service with him. As the title eludes, Ted brings a valuable perspective to take in regards to YOUR mission. Bringing the focus off of the military idea of the mission and focusing on the mission of building yourself up, your family, friends, community and onward if you so desire. Without a doubt we all have struggled with figuring out what do do next, this is human, which is a good thing. Ted talks about his military career and you can hear and almost see the mission focused mentality that he, like so many of us, held and the problems that come with keeping that personal energy directed in a direct that runs counter to the new mission, You. It's not selfish to look after yourself, but if you think of it in terms of being the best you can be for those you love, well then you do what you have to do. Ted is focused on himself and through that process he finds new energy to help others.

Stay safe this weekend and keep drinking water cause its still hot. Florida, be careful down there. Be blessed everyone and we'll talk with ya again.
