    Veterans Chat Ep.006 w/ Steve Perchak Jul 10, 2019
    Show notes

Steve Perchak sits down with us again to talk about how things have been. Steve was on for Ep.012 and it has been leading the way in downloads ever since, so we had to have him come on and let us know how things have been going and what is new. He was an accomplished golfer, played since he was 2yo, he is back to swinging sticks and ready to take that to the next level also.

Check out the episode and leave Steve some comments!

    Veterans Chat Ep.005 Jul 08, 2019
    Show notes

    Monday (mandatory) Motivation Ep.005

    Veteran Business:

-Inaugural SSG Aaron Butler Memorial Purple Heart Run is being held on Aug 17, 2018 in honor of SSG Butler was killed in Nangahar Province, Afghanistan on Aug 16, 2017. This trail run is to benefit the local chapter of the Purple Heart and to remember ALL the great service members that we have lost. If you up in Eagle, ID, drop in with some trail shoes and enjoy the day being surrounded by like-minded individuals. Great times!

Talked about how to get on the podcast, the "Process" is not that at all, it is simple and is a tool to assist the Veteran coming. We refuse to allow a Veteran to be immortalized on the intrawebs in a bad light, so we talk about what we are going to cover to fit it all in. This time also sets the hosts "left/right limits" of questions, which is important when combat is involved. Send that "Saga Outline" (that is a hyperlink to the document) back to HOVPODCAST7@gmail.com and we will get you lined up for a pre-interview to go thru the outline and then set a date and time that works for the Veteran, at least two days before the episode is to air, and we are good.

We also promote Veteran Owned Business' and Organizations. This is conducted free of charge and the episode can be used on social media to further your reach. The episode can also be broken down into smaller pieces that talk about specific topics, easy to add them to a video and post to your page, space them out to get more legs out of the episode. You know this is a saweet deal!!

If you have hobbies, family events that could be useful to other Veterans..well bring it here. We will do an episode and cover it. Have a Veteran Topic that you want to talk about? Once again, email or message the show and we'll get it lined up. This is too easy right here!

Lastly, we need some comedy on here. My skills are dried up, so if any Veterans out there want to practice their stand-up, work on some material or just add some class to the show..reach out to us and lets make it happen.

Once again, stay safe out there and much love, blessings.

Saga Ep.014 w/ Byran Tashima "Obstacles are Stepping Stones" Jun 28, 2019
    Show notes

    HOV Ep.020: Run-Down

Joined by Byran "Tosh" Tashima on todays episode and what a great time it was being able to chat with him about life and where things are heading. Tosh remained in almost perpetual combat mode for 12 years, first as an Infantryman in the 173rd, 25th, HA National Guard and finally in Triple Canopy. Hear how he rediscovered himself after an injury prevented him from continuing the only real life he knew. Listen to this episode all the way through, there are some really rich moments shared, don't want them to go unheard. Much respect to Tosh for his life's journey thus far, I'm excited to see where he takes things in this next chapter.

Warrior Rising is a Veteran Non-Profit that specializes in helping Veteran entrepreneurs with grants, funds, marketing, support and many, many more resources. Last, but not least: Thank you to all the listeners and Veterans that have come on, who are planning to come and who are working in the background doing great things for the podcast. Continue doing what your doing, spread the word the only way we can. LIKE-COMMENT-SHARE-GET INKED!!

Veterans Chat Ep.004 "Combat Music" Jun 24, 2019
    Show notes

Combat Music is the theme today (sorry for the glitches). Devon Walker, Pat Russell and Andrew McMeley came and talked about their experience with music in preparing them for combat operations. The music that gets the fire stoked and focused on the mission. I challenged them to define these feelings that the music created in them at that moment and thoughts of home.

Devon talks about his selection of music before and after mission. Mudvayne to start things off and later Black Label Society, but he always dialed it down while he was cleaning the .50 cal. Devon will be on again to tell his story and also co-host some episodes.

Pat was medically retired in 2018, he came on to shared an in-depth look at his selection of music, he is a certified metalhead. Pat started "Resiliency Outreach" in Tennessee, we will be doing an episode to support his outstanding efforts. Going from the Infantry to Special Forces, he breaks down his selection of music and how it drives him to mission accomplishment. Pat also received the Stellate Ganglion Block, or SGB as its called, we are going to have him back on to talk about how it has been affecting him. Be looking for Pat's upcoming episode.

Invited an active duty Soldier on to address his music during combat, Andrew is a hard hitter from the Korengal Valley. He recalls stepping out the gate with either rap or metal. He tells about a time when he bonded with another Veteran, Damien Gardner, proving once again that the bonds in combat last. We'll have Andrew back on again, he's always great to talk with.

    Saga Ep.013 w/ Allen Gutierrez Jun 21, 2019
    Show notes

    Allen Gutierrez "Rock-n-Roll Don't Die"

We welcome "Gutz" onto the show to talk about his time growing up in the LA area and being apart of the rock-n-roll scene there. His reason for joining was personal and he shortly made his mark as a Soldier that everyone could count on. From one Improvised Explosive Device (IED) accident to another, he was always right there giving buddy aid and saving lives. The struggle that exists inside our Veterans is very real, but we are working to provide a place to connect with those that can help, a place to be heard and dump your ruck.

Allen's story and all the stories that Veterans hold, are important. They each hold a nugget of reason, truth, understanding, clarity and endless ways for another Veteran to gain focus in his or her lives. Thank you once again for the care at which you take in these episodes, the Veterans opening up are the digging deep inside, helping themselves and others. Your support of these Volunteers, Veterans, is not a small thing in their lives.

Continue to Share-Like-Subscribe, still no tattoo pics yet, but talk about these stories with others, share them at the water cooler, while your turning a wrench or having a cold one. Let these stories and the men and women who lived abundantly within them live on. Many Blessings.

We are joined on the podcast today by SGT Mark Miller, US Army. He takes us through his families history of military service, how 9/11 changed his path in life and some great stories from Afghanistan. As everyone may know, we hold a special place in our hearts for the military members and Veterans who joined after 9/11, even more so for the ones who went to sign up the day it happen, these Men and Women are our life blood. Ensuring that their story is told, understood and received by all in an unfiltered manner is the key. Enjoy the show.

    Veterans Chat Ep.003 w/ Patrick Lisbon Jun 12, 2019
    Show notes

Joining us on this midweek episode is Patrick Lisbon, having spent almost 23 years in uniform, he created bonds that have lasted, but none so powerful as the ones that are formed in combat. Patrick uses a situation that might be all to familiar to most, a moment in contact, an ambush, to highlight the bonds that we make within the military and how they can help us as Veterans to maintain mentors in our lives and hopefully repurpose the muscle memory for survival and use it to adjust and level-up our here in "Veteranland". Great episode, that you have to hear to really experience. Patrick even invokes the name that must not be spoken, CSM Arthur L. Coleman, Jr.

Sit back, relax and enjoy the show.

But like all good things, it only took one person to change it all around and get him back on track. Now, fathering like a beast, Brent is leaning forward and taking charge of life and his future.
