Santa Sangre (1989) Jul 31, 2024

Show notes

Pull that literal python out of your pants and get ready for the mime of your life because we're attending the Circo del Gringo to discuss Alejandro Jodorowsky's surrealist masterpiece Santa Sangre!

Join us as we offer up a primer on Jodorowksy before diving into this gorgeous, often touching film. From Fenix's (Axel Jodorowsky) childhoood trauma to his mother Concha's (Blanca Guerra) penchant for psychic arm control, this movie has it all!

Plus: detachable ears, an extravagant elephant funeral, acidic genital maimings, behind-the-scenes testicle-grabbings and lots and lots of chickens.

Porno Queers: Scared Stiff 2: The Amityville Whore (2019) Jul 26, 2024

Show notes

Explicit Content Warning - Don't let Trace's mom listen to this!

To celebrate the 45th anniversary of The Amityville Horror, we're talking about our favorite scenes and performers in Naked Sword's 2019 porn parody Scared Stiff 2: The Amityville Whore. (And no, you don't need to have seen the first film)

Although the sex is pretty vanilla and the film is far too long (3 hours?!), we have to admit: this film is both surprisingly funny and occasionally hot.

The Haunting (1999) feat. Kill By Kill Jul 24, 2024

Show notes

Answer that insomnia study ad and beware of griffins because we are checking back into Hill House for our second Jan de Bont film in as many weeks: 1999's "don't call it a remake," The Haunting.

Joining us for an episode that immediately goes off the rails and into angry rant territory are five-time returning champions, Patrick Hamilton and Gena Radcliffe of Kill By Kill podcast.

We have *lots* of questions: where's the bisexuality? Why is the body count so low? How much should Steven Spielberg be blamed? If Crain is part of the house, then why isn't he everywhere? Oh, and who the hell called Eleanor in the first place?!

Poor Lili Taylor...and poor us!

Twister (1996) feat. Edison Skinner Jul 17, 2024

Show notes

Watch out for that cow and get ready for "intense depiction of very bad weather" because we're discussing Jan de Bont's 1996 effects extravaganza Twister! Tagging in for the conversation is Edison Skinner, the co-host of the Talk Movie to Me podcast!

Join us as we do a deep dive into this film's very troubled production history before marveling at the sheer movie magic on display. From the computer-generated twisters (which still hold up!) to extensive practical effects, it's a true marvel of a film.

Plus: Pepsi product placement, a chode of an F-5 tornado, and plenty of love for Jami Gertz's Dr. Melissa Reeves.

Eyes Wide Shut (1999) Jul 10, 2024

Show notes

Ready for an all-night sexual odyssey? We're going LONG on Stanley Kubrick's final masterpiece, Eyes Wide Shut (1999) which stars then real-life Hollywood A-list couple, Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman.

Trace has a lengthy production history for this Guinness Record-holding film, which appears to be making fun of Cruise's own stardom and sexuality?

Plus: high praise for Kidman's two confession scenes, selling the film on sex, the cast that could have been, secret societies on and off screen, and talk of Kubrick "edging" the audience for 2.5 hours.
