Lindsay Clancy Knew THIS Better Than Anyone Jul 23, 2026
    Show notes

Lindsay Clancy case coverage — she understood one thing better than almost any defendant who has ever sat in a courtroom like this, and both sides want to use it.

Her profession put her inside the delivery room for a living. She knew the screening questions. She knew the warning signs. She knew what a patient has to say to be taken seriously and what gets waved off. Prosecutors intend to argue that knowledge is proof she was in control. Her lawyers intend to argue it proves the failure was never hers.

Tony Brueski and criminal defense trial attorney Bob Motta, host of Defense Diaries, cover this case end to end across three segments.

The first works through the Commonwealth's evidence, including the note prosecutors say she left on her phone about her older children and the timeline they say shows she measured her husband's errand. The second breaks down the defense after a judge barred women who have experienced postpartum psychosis from testifying, leaving expert witnesses to carry the entire concept. The third is the hardest one — what justice means when a not criminally responsible verdict leads to a locked hospital and a conviction leads to mandatory life with no judicial discretion of any kind.

Somewhere in the middle of all of it is a mental health system that received every warning available. She told her husband she was having thoughts of hurting her kids. She admitted herself to a psychiatric hospital. Nineteen days after her discharge, all three of her children were gone.

Cora was five. Dawson was three. Callan was eight months old.

Lindsay Clancy's Jury Lost THIS Before Day One Jul 22, 2026
    Show notes

Anyone following the Lindsay Clancy trial is watching the jury selection and the witnesses. The real fight happened before any of it started, and most people missed it.

Three moves in eleven days. On July 9, prosecutors dropped all three strangulation charges, eliminating the compromise space between the two remaining verdicts. On July 13, the judge blocked women who survived postpartum psychosis from telling the jury what command hallucinations feel like from the inside. On July 20, before the first juror entered the room, the prosecution moved to exclude defense experts entirely.

Tony walks through what each of those moves does individually and what the three of them do together. In Massachusetts, once evidence of insanity is introduced, the burden flips — the prosecution has to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Clancy was criminally responsible. That is why controlling what the jury hears is everything. Every witness who gets blocked is one fewer voice complicating the Commonwealth's proof.

Also covered: Reddington's denied request to tell jurors about the reversed burden before opening statements, the eighteen-juror panel Sullivan is seating, and what the defense still has left after the bench was stripped. Patrick Clancy on both witness lists. The civil complaint. Thirteen medications. And seventeen-minute psychiatric appointments right up to the day before.

Two jurors by lunch. Four to eight weeks. And the first fight was about who gets to talk.

Lindsay Clancy's Best Outcome Still Ends THIS Way Jul 22, 2026
    Show notes

Lindsay Clancy case analysis — even the verdict her defense is fighting for ends with her locked up, which raises a question about why this prosecution looks the way it does.

The best realistic result for Lindsay Clancy is a jury finding that she lacked criminal responsibility. That verdict points toward a state psychiatric hospital and a schedule of reviews, not a front door. She has been in state hospital custody since 2023 and is paralyzed from the waist down. The worst result is a first-degree conviction, which in Massachusetts means mandatory life without parole and a judge with no room to weigh anything at all.

Criminal defense trial attorney Bob Motta, host of Defense Diaries, joins Tony Brueski to take the whole justice question apart. What is the Commonwealth actually pursuing, and why with this much force. What purpose a prison serves for a woman who is going to carry the grief of what this illness did to her family for as long as she is alive. Whether the judge's calls on evidence have been fair, because when the sentence is fixed, those rulings decide everything.

Then there is the civil case running in parallel. If a jury accepts that the treatment caused the psychotic break, the prescribers face a settlement and she still faces a cell. Advocates argue that prosecuting her at all teaches every struggling mother in America to keep her mouth shut. The other side says three children are dead and that cannot be where the conversation ends.

Both of those things are true at the same time. That is what makes this case impossible.

Cora, Dawson, and Callan deserve an answer that the legal system may not be built to give.

Why Josh Duggar Wants A New Trial Over His Sisters Jul 22, 2026
    Show notes

Anna Duggar was supposed to be the one watching. That was the arrangement. Accountability software on every device, and she was the one receiving the reports.

A technology executive from that software company testified at trial that with Josh Duggar's settings, on those devices, getting around it should have been impossible. It wasn't. He built a second, hidden operating system on the same machine, a partition the software couldn't see into, and did his downloading over there, in the dark, on the side of the computer where his wife's reports simply went blank. For two years the software told him no. He didn't stop. He engineered the no away.

That's the pattern, and it goes back to when he was fifteen, and it's still running now, from a cell in Ohio.

In 2025 he filed a motion for a new trial. A federal judge denied it. But look at what he argued. That the evidence was faked. That an employee did it. That the prosecution was political. That the 2015 confession the whole country read was never his. And, in one paragraph, that his own sisters wronged him when their records became public.

The girls he admitted harming are now, in his telling, part of his grievance. He walks out February 2, 2033.

Lindsay Clancy Lost THIS Before Her Trial Started Jul 22, 2026
    Show notes

Lindsay Clancy trial update — the defense went into jury selection already down a weapon, and it happened in a pretrial ruling most people never heard about.

Judge William Sullivan denied Kevin Reddington's request to call women who have been through postpartum psychosis as witnesses. No lay testimony about the condition. Experts only. For a defense whose entire case depends on a jury genuinely understanding an illness almost none of them have encountered, that ruling matters more than any piece of physical evidence in the file.

What Reddington still has is a timeline that reads like an indictment of everyone who touched her chart. At the end of December, Lindsay Clancy told her husband she was having thoughts of hurting her children. She checked herself into a psychiatric hospital on New Year's Eve. She was released. Nineteen days later her three children were dead. Her lawyer puts the medication count at roughly thirteen psychiatric drugs in about four months, and her malpractice suit describes a dose raised the day before with no sleep that night.

Criminal defense trial attorney Bob Motta, host of Defense Diaries, joins Tony Brueski to break the defense down honestly — what works, what does not, and what a jury is likely to reject on instinct. A lot of people watching this are on medication a doctor handed them. They deserve a straight answer about what these drugs can and cannot do.

Then there is Patrick Clancy, testifying and suing at the same time, and the decision Reddington may have to make about putting his client on that stand.

The defense is not arguing she did not do it. It is arguing that everybody else had a chance to stop it.

Why Prosecutors Read Lindsay Clancy's Note Out Loud Jul 22, 2026
    Show notes

Lindsay Clancy case update — the prosecution is building its first-degree murder case around a phone, a fifty-minute window, and one sentence she typed herself.

There is a reason Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Sprague reads that note in open court instead of tucking it into an exhibit list. It lands. It is the difference between a case about a sick woman and a case about a woman who had been thinking about something for months, and the Commonwealth would very much like a jury to hear it that way.

Everything else in the prosecution file is small on its own. A text about dinner. An order placed. A drive to a pharmacy in the next town. Time stamps that do not add up to much until somebody arranges them in a row and calls it planning. That is the state's argument in Plymouth Superior Court, and it carries a mandatory sentence if it works.

Criminal defense trial attorney Bob Motta, host of Defense Diaries, walks Tony Brueski through the case from the other side of the table. Where the prosecution's timeline is genuinely strong. Where it falls apart under what the medical literature actually says about psychosis and functioning. Why the state keeps pushing this toward black and white when the entire case lives in the gray.

Then there is the part almost nobody sees coming — the way the Commonwealth plans to use Lindsay Clancy's own job against her, and what that says about how this system treats a person who knew exactly which words to use when she asked for help.

Three children are dead. Cora was five, Dawson was three, and Callan was eight months old. The fight is over a mind, and the state says it already has the receipts.

Lindsay Clancy Described THIS To Her Doctors Jul 22, 2026
    Show notes

One to two women out of every thousand who give birth will experience postpartum psychosis. It is classified as a psychiatric emergency. It involves hallucinations, delusions, mania, paranoia, and command voices that the person experiencing them cannot distinguish from reality. And there is no routine screening for it in postnatal care anywhere in the United States.

Lindsay Clancy described symptoms to her providers that her civil lawsuit now alleges were auditory hallucinations — not the intrusive thoughts her doctors treated them as. That distinction is the difference between an anxiety diagnosis and immediate hospitalization. Nobody asked the follow-up question. Nobody gave her the language to identify what was happening inside her own head. And she was a labor and delivery nurse — a medical professional who had spent her career helping mothers.

In this episode, Tony Brueski explains postpartum psychosis in terms anyone can understand, walking through how it differs from postpartum depression, why the person experiencing it often cannot recognize it, and how Lindsay Clancy's medical providers allegedly prescribed nine medications over four months while missing a forensic psychiatrist's later diagnosis of Bipolar Disorder I with postpartum onset. Her husband Patrick told a friend the medications were not working and that Lindsay seemed like a zombie. An outside facility flagged overmedication and misdiagnosis. The nurse practitioner allegedly never followed up.

Patrick Clancy will testify for Lindsay's defense. He has asked the public to forgive his wife and filed a wrongful death lawsuit against her medical providers.

Did Anyone Protect Nolan Wells Or Lindsay Clancy's Kids? Jul 22, 2026
    Show notes

Live, Tony Brueski takes the full mailbag on two cases — Nolan Wells in Mississippi and Lindsay Clancy in Massachusetts.

Nolan Wells, eighteen, rode out to Horn Island on the Fourth of July with friends from Ocean Springs. The island is undeveloped, about ten miles off the Mississippi coast, with no shelter, no fresh water, and no reliable way to call anybody. The boats went home without him. A National Park Service ranger found his body in the water two days later. There are two examinations of him and neither has been released. Cause and manner of death remain undetermined. Attorney Ben Crump is running an independent investigation and the district attorney has said the case will go to a grand jury.

Lindsay Clancy has pleaded not guilty to three counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of her children — Cora, five, Dawson, three, and eight-month-old Callan — at the family's Duxbury home in January 2023. Her attorney argues she was misdiagnosed and overmedicated and experiencing postpartum psychosis. Prosecutors have pointed to other mothers who lived through the same condition without harming their children. Eighteen jurors are being seated. Patrick Clancy, who publicly forgave his wife, is a defense witness. She has never given law enforcement a statement.

The questions on the table: why a boat left an island with a kid still on it, what happens if two autopsies conflict, whether a grand jury can charge anybody, what a jury does when the only person who knows what happened has never spoken, and whether any ending in that Plymouth County courtroom could honestly be called justice.

    Both cases. Bring your questions.

Nolan Wells Hour By Hour: The Full Timeline Laid Out Jul 21, 2026
    Show notes

Start to finish, hour by hour — the Nolan Wells timeline as the records document it, with the conflicts marked where they sit instead of smoothed over.

The night of the Fourth is where this breakdown slows down. Around eleven o'clock, a friend reached the Coast Guard. The agency has confirmed the contact and said its help wasn't needed at that point. Seven minutes later Nolan's mother got a call from the mainland. Two tracking apps on her son's phone pointed in different directions. By midnight she was working through agencies arguing over who owned a missing person case out in the Sound. Her husband spent part of that night at a house he describes as tense, retrieving car keys he says he was lied to about, with the door locking behind him once he had them.

The first aircraft didn't lift until after noon the next day. Roughly thirteen hours sit in the middle, and both decisions have defensible logic behind them — though only one side of it had a child unaccounted for in the dark.

There's the viral clip, too. The family's attorney said the voice demanding a phone back belonged to Nolan. A friend went on national television and said the voice was his own, that Nolan isn't in the frame at all, and two other people backed him up.

The phone became a standoff of its own — held by the family's experts, sought by the sheriff, and eventually opened to a joint examination by both sides. Tony Brueski gives every account its strongest form, then says plainly where the evidence runs out. Nothing official about how Nolan died has been put out. No one stands accused of anything.

Did Lindsay Clancy Know Exactly What She Was Doing? Jul 21, 2026
    Show notes

That question is the whole trial, and it's the one the mailbag keeps sending in a hundred different ways. Live, Tony Brueski reads it and works through what a Plymouth County jury is actually being asked to decide.

Lindsay Clancy, a former nurse, has pleaded not guilty to three counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of her three children — Cora, five, Dawson, three, and eight-month-old Callan — at the family's Duxbury, Massachusetts home in January 2023. The defense, led by Kevin Reddington, argues misdiagnosis, overmedication, and postpartum psychosis. Prosecutors have signaled a different frame entirely.

That frame surfaced when the Commonwealth fought to keep other mothers from testifying. Prosecutor Jennifer Sprague described women who lived through postpartum depression and psychosis without harming their children — women who locked themselves in a room, women who drove away. Judge William Sullivan excluded those witnesses. The comparison behind the objection is heading to trial regardless.

The mail on this case is unlike anything this show gets. Mothers describing intrusive thoughts they never told a doctor about. People who have flipped positions a dozen times and can't settle. People asking who is speaking for three children in that courtroom.

Eighteen jurors will be seated instead of sixteen. Patrick Clancy, who publicly forgave his wife, appears on the defense witness list. Lindsay Clancy is paralyzed from the waist down and has been held at Tewksbury State Hospital. She has never given law enforcement a single statement — she was hospitalized from that night forward, which means a jury has to reconstruct her state of mind from medication records, timelines, and search history rather than from her.

Every ending here is a loss. A conviction means prison for life. An acquittal by reason of insanity means a hospital and reviews. Cora, Dawson, and Callan are gone under either one.

    Bring your questions.
