Joseph Matheny: Bending Reality With Art Oct 08, 2024

Show notes

This week on Hi, Strangeness, I have on writer and transmedia artist Jospeh Matheny! Joseph has created works using alternate reality gaming and transmedia storytelling methods to deliver a new kind of narrative. He's also extremely well versed in high weirdness, the occult, underground art, and so much more. He's truly my kind of artist: A risk taker, esoterically minded, and not afraid to destroy classic narrative structure. I tried to play it cool, because I'm a big fan, but I'm sure you'll hear a couple of geek out moments. Jospeh is one of those Gen X artists who changed the game..literally. Enjoy!

Show notes

Well hello there! This week we have on all around great dude, Seriah Azkath! I've been a massive fan of Seriah's phenomenal podcast Where DId the Road Go for years, so this was such a blast for me to pick his fascinating brain. We chat about his many encounters with the strange and unusual, the magic of place, weird New York and a lot more. I can't recommend his show enough. It's a master's class of thought experiments with amazing guests. In my book, Seriah does it right. Enjoy!

Show notes

This week, I'm joined by Nash Hoover from Chasing Legends! Nash and his team create and put out documentaries focusing cryptozoology. Nash is also a Minnesota native, so we get into some of the strange and mysterious beasts that waltz around his neck of the woods. It's always so fun to chat with a boots on the ground researcher, who's out there getting dirty and reporting back to us inside kids. Enjoy, my friends!

Tobias Wayland: Wisconsin Weird and Unsolved Mysteries Sep 12, 2024

Show notes

Yo buds! This week I have on my pal Tobias Wayland! I was lucky enough to snag up an interview with Tobias while he's fresh off the release of The Lake Michigan Mothman episode of Unsolved Mysteries, for which he is heavily featured. We discuss his experience working on the show, and then we do a deepish dive on one of my favorite topics, weird Wisconsin. We talk about Wisco's (am I allowed to call it that?) storied UFO history, bigfoot, dogman, hauntings and a ton of other weirdness permeating his wonderful home state. I really had a blast chatting with Tobias, and I hope you all enjoy it too!

Beckie-Ann Galentine Sep 03, 2024

Show notes

This week Beckie-Ann Galentine stops in for a visit to talk all things strange and unusual! Beckie is a massively successful internet influencer, and a wildly brilliant mind in the paranormal field. From the ethics of dying, to respectfully investigating the paranormal, Beckie does the good work out there, folks. We cover all sorts of subjects, from her early beginnings, to her rise to stardom, and how she navigates the world of being an online paranormal sensation. I learned a lot on this episode, and felt very inspired after recording with her. Beckie is a real inspiration on how to do it right! Bravo I say. I hope you all enjoy this episode as much as I enjoyed recording it. Peace, my friends.

Michael Huntington: High Strangeness in the Show Me State! Aug 29, 2024

Show notes

Howdy friends! This week I'm thrilled to have on a fellow Midwest researcher, Michael Huntington! Michael is a long-time researcher and UFO culture curator from the great state of Missouri. Michael is my kind of researcher too: not bogged down by mainstream UFOlogy, and all the uninteresting drama that comes with it. Instead, Michael advocates for UFO reform, not for attention, but because he cares deeply about the study. Bravo I say! Michael is also well versed and cares deeply for all sorts of weirdness: bigfoot, haunted locations, folklore and other topics that fall into the strange and unusual. I love Michael's work, and really feel inspired by how much he truly cares about these topics. I hope this episode leaves you feeling inspired too. Enjoy, my friends.

Richard Metzger: Magick Show Aug 16, 2024

Show notes

I am thrilled to share this new episode with all all-around cool dude, Richard Metzger! Richard has been a fixture in the counter-culture and occult scene since the early 1990's, and has made lasting contributions with his Disinformation show, The Infinity Factory, Disinfo Con, and now his new offering, Magick Show. I'm a big fan of Richard's work, so please forgive my fanning out, haha. We get into all sorts of topics: his new show, how the counter-culture has changed and evolved, the occult, his older shows, and oh so much more. Richard is currently (as you read this!) doing a Kickstarter for Magick Show, and I highly recommend contributing to this extremely worthy artistic endeavor. I hope you all enjoy this as much as I did. Peace, friends.
