Healing Heroines: Real Stories of Purpose, Growth, & Transformation

Welcome to Healing Heroines: Real Stories of Purpose, Growth & Transformation, a podcast for women who have built lives they’re grateful for, but still feel the pull for something more.

Each week, host Chandler Stroud sits down with women who have answered that call, along with the trusted guides who have shaped her own journey, to explore the stories, choices, and turning points that changed everything. From unexpected interruptions and major life transitions to quieter moments of knowing, these conversations explore what happens when we stop ignoring what life is asking of us and start trusting ourselves enough to answer.

Because sometimes, the story that changes your life starts with someone else’s.

Every woman receives the call. A heroine chooses to answer it.

Rediscover Your Inner Power with These Somatic Practices Apr 16, 2025
    Show notes

What if the tension in your body is actually just unprocessed emotions? In this episode, holistic healer Nicole Kim describes how yoga, Thai bodywork, and sound healing can help women reconnect with their inner power. She shares how these somatic practices offer more than relaxation — they can unlock emotional breakthroughs, restore nervous system balance, and transform how we show up in our daily lives. Through personal stories and practical insights, learn how true healing often begins by slowing down, tuning in, and allowing your body to lead the way.

    What You Will Learn

    • [00:05:35] A foundational explanation of yoga, sound healing, and Thai bodywork.
    • [00:08:14] Why physical practices often trigger emotional release.

    • [00:44:19] Why healing is nonlinear — and how to keep showing up for yourself.

    Standout Quotes

    • “Whether it's yoga or sound healing, you're empowered to sit in the discomfort — to trust that ‘I can feel this, I can move through this, and I’m going to arrive on the other side.’” – [00:12:11]
    • “Learning to love yourself is the most effective way to find happiness and health.” – [00:42:38]
    • “We want someone to tell us what to do with our lives — but we already have all the answers within ourselves.” – [00:18:55]
    • “I always say: I’m going to show up as my best self — and some days, my best is rest.” – [00:41:40]
    • “You're not going to arrive somewhere and suddenly be healed. Life is messy. The point is to show up, every day, with love for yourself.” – [00:44:19]

Finding Authentic Confidence from Within Apr 09, 2025
    Show notes

Confidence isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach, and it definitely doesn’t always look like being the loudest in the room. In this episode, Hero Cait deMello shares her evolving relationship with confidence, breaking down the difference between external validation and genuine self-trust. Through personal stories, vulnerable insights, and a refreshing honesty about self-doubt, Cait redefines what it means to be “confident” — not as a performance, but as a quiet, grounded sense of self. Whether you’re outgoing, reserved, or somewhere in between, this episode will help you explore where your confidence truly comes from — and how to nurture it from within.

    What You Will Learn

    • [00:02:10] How confidence can coexist with social anxiety.

    • [00:03:45] The impact of people-pleasing on self-worth.

    • [00:05:18] Why is being loud or outgoing not the same as being confident?

    • [00:06:40] How childhood experiences shaped Cait’s understanding of confidence.

    • [00:08:55] The difference between external validation and internal self-trust.

    • [00:10:42] How over-apologizing signals a lack of confidence.

    • [00:12:11] The importance of learning to sit with discomfort.

    • [00:14:05] Why confidence is a practice, not a fixed trait.

    • [00:15:30] How to recognize when confidence is rooted in fear.

    • [00:17:20] Why it's okay not to have all the answers.

    Standout Quotes

    • “Confidence doesn’t mean being the loudest person in the room. It means trusting that you belong in the room — even if you’re quiet.” – [00:05:25]
    • “For a long time, my confidence was performative. It was more about being liked than being myself.” – [00:09:10]
    • “I’ve learned that true confidence is actually really quiet. It’s not flashy — it’s peaceful.” – [00:13:32]
    • “Sometimes, confidence is just showing up anyway, even when you’re scared or unsure.” – [00:15:00]

Your "Little t" Traumas Matter, Too Apr 02, 2025
    Show notes

Have you ever felt an inexplicable wave of self-doubt, a hesitation in speaking up, or an unshakable fear of rejection—without fully understanding why? These subtle yet powerful feelings may be rooted in "little t" traumas—those everyday wounds that seem small on the surface but quietly shape how we see ourselves and interact with the world. Nearly every woman has experienced these moments, often dismissing them as insignificant, yet they accumulate over time, influencing confidence, relationships, and emotional well-being.

In this episode, we uncover the hidden weight of "little t" trauma, how to recognize its impact, and, most importantly, how to begin the journey of healing with hero and therapist Jen Baumgold. She is certified in EMDR and works with clients to help untangle the knots of trauma while finding a path toward healing and resilience. After graduating with her master's in social work, Jen began her career at the New York Fire Department counseling service unit, where she worked until 2016. During her time there, she provided crucial mental health support to FDYN members and their families.

In addition to her private practice, Jen is an active member of the Fair Field Trauma Response team, a volunteer alliance of mental health professionals committed to aiding first responders and the local communities in healing from trauma, tragedy, and stress.

Exploring the Practice of Rolfing with Moylan Ryan

What if the way you move—how you stand, walk, and even breathe—could unlock a deeper sense of freedom and alignment? Rolfing, a powerful form of structural integration, offers a profound way to release tension, improve posture, and reshape both body and mind. More than just a physical adjustment, it is a process of unraveling old patterns, restoring balance, and reconnecting with your authentic self. By working with the body's fascial system, Rolfing helps break free from restrictive habits, allowing for greater ease, fluidity, and presence in everyday life. It’s not just about movement—it’s about transformation from the inside out.

In this episode, we talk about the somatic practice of rolfing with a special guest, Moylan Ryan. Moylan is originally from Ireland, where he trained as a somatic psychotherapist, but eventually relocated to the US nearly 21 years ago to study at Dr Ralph Institute in Boulder, Colorado. Moylan recognizes Rolfing's structural integration as a profound means of bringing deep change to one's psychology, a reshaping of both neural and fascial plasticity. Moylan has a private practice as a somatic therapist in Tempe, Arizona, where he offers all things structural integration, neurodynamic breathwork, and movement education as integral parts of his healing process. Moylan is currently completing his book, Living Aligned, a compilation of over 40 years of experience exploring the landscape of both the inner and outward world.

    • “It’s only when we have a front and a back awareness that we can have a center; if we don’t have a front and back awareness, you’ve to create a false center, which is being self-centered.” [26:16]

Self-Sabotage: Time to Stop Standing in Your Own Way

Have you ever felt like you're on the brink of success, only to find yourself pulling back, procrastinating, or making excuses at the last moment? It’s as if an invisible force is keeping you stuck, preventing you from reaching your full potential. That force is often self-sabotage—a silent, internal battle where fear, doubt, and limiting beliefs work against your best intentions. It can disguise itself as perfectionism, productivity, avoidance, or even self-doubt, making it difficult to recognize. The good news? These patterns aren’t set in stone. By becoming aware of how self-sabotage operates, you can break free from its grip, rewire your mindset, and start moving forward with confidence.

In this episode, we talk about the art of self-sabotage, how we get into our way knowingly or subconsciously, and—most importantly—how to break free from self-sabotage with our hero and mindset coach, Katie Wee. Katie is a mindset coach, keynote speaker, actress, survivor, writer, and the founder of Happy Camp. Katie has appeared on TV shows such as Modern Family, Hawaii Five-0, New Girl, and General Hospital, and her writing has been featured on Newsweek and The Huffington Post. At Happy Camp, she teaches others how to love themselves on the deepest level and use manifestation to create what they want in their lives, all while blissing out in paradise.

    • [48:11] Katie’s advice for those feeling overwhelmed by self-sabotage and change
    • [52:52] Wrap up and end of the show

    Standout Quotes:

    • “It takes 17 seconds for a thought to collect another thought that’s like it, so if you’re thinking positively for 17 seconds, keep that going for another positive thought.” [26:45]
    • “Often, the first thought is just an automatic program; let the second thought inform your action rather than being reactive; the goal is to be responsive rather than reactive.” [29:49]
    • “Letting yourself meet your goals is self-love; self-love is not surrendering to what you want at the moment.” [36:48]
