Mindful Goal Setting: Tips for setting realistic and sustainable health goals Apr 10, 2023
    Show notes

In this episode, Shira discusses the common misconception that there is a healthy way to lose an unhealthy amount of weight. She shares her experience with a young starlet who was willing to do anything to achieve a certain look for her breakout role. It’s important to be wary of pursuing an unhealthy goal, or a goal that encourages unhealthy behaviors. Instead, consider having incremental goals that can be checked off weekly or monthly and prioritizing sustainability to avoid setting oneself up for failure.

Some questions to consider when setting realistic and sustainable goals:

    • Have you ever achieved your aesthetic goals before?
    • How long ago did you achieve this goal?
    • Did you do it in a healthy way? What sort of behaviors did you change or introduce?

We’d love to hear from you! Have you ever pursued a goal that wasn’t exactly good for you? What is an incremental goal that you felt really worked? Have you evolved your goals as you’ve gotten older? DM Shira on Instagram or tell us your thoughts via an Apple Podcast review.

Shit I’m Loving: a Sweetgreen burrito bowl hack, lunch on the go, and not-gross Easter candy Apr 06, 2023
    Show notes

This week Shira shares some goodies and hacks on her radar this week!

With Easter coming up, check out Shira’s favorite clean Easter candy. You might not be able to (or even want to!) watch every single piece of candy that crosses your kid’s path, and that’s okay. But these days there are totally some really yummy options with few additives, preservatives, and fillers. Regardless of your approach, keep an eye out for that black-and-white thinking, and do whatever makes you and your little one feel great.

We all know that feeling of when you de-clutter or deep-clean the inside of your car, so we can’t help but share Shira’s hack to keep your car a little cleaner. Check out this favorite car vacuum.

    What Should I Bring? Apr 05, 2023
    Show notes

With so many friend-and-family gatherings around the corner (Easter, Passover, graduation, Mother’s Day, Memorial Day, barbecue weather, wedding season, oh my!) we wanted to help tackle the age-old question of “What do I bring?” Especially if you’re not sure the event will have something you really want to eat, the best way to overcome that is to bring that special something you and others will definitely love.

If you want to bring a stunning salad option you and your family will love try out Paleo Running Mama spring cobb salad or the Paleo Running Mama nicoise salad!

    Thea's slow roasted salmon:

    • Mince up ½ shallot, zest of half a lemon and 6 tablespoons of chopped herbs with salt and pepper and 2 tablespoons olive oil.
    • Coat the entire piece of salmon to the edges
    • Slow roast at 300 for 30 minutes…but check on it at 25 minutes!

    Shira's Italian Chop dressing dupe:

    • juice of one lemon
    • 1/4 cup olive oil
    • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar,
    • 1.5 shallots
    • leaves from 1 spring of rosemary and 1 spring of thyme, salt and pepper
    • blitz in a food processor!

What are some of your favorite things to bring to a gathering?
