Get Obsessed : With Living Your Best Life – Julie Lokun and Mika Altidor

What happens when two women who refuse to play small sit down with the people actually changing the world — and the ones brave enough to tell the stories most shows won’t touch? You get The Get Obsessed Podcast — a show built for people who are hungry for more truth, more transformation, and more proof that the life they’re imagining is actually possible.

Hosted by Julie Lokun and Mika Altidor, this is the podcast for dreamers who are done dreaming and ready to move. Julie is a legal advocate, entrepreneur, and mother of four who has spent years studying what it truly takes to succeed. Mika is a fierce business owner and meditation facilitator obsessed with self-development who knows what it takes to turn a life around. Together they bring zero filters, radical honesty, and an unshakable belief that you were built for more than you’ve been told.

We go places other podcasts won’t. We have explored the inner world of Scientology — the beliefs, the pull, the controversy, and what it means for the people inside it. We sat with Janelle Brown from TLC’s Sister Wives and went deep into what it really looks like to live outside the lines of what society calls normal, to question everything, and to find your own definition of family and freedom. Dr. Christine Marie, featured in the #1 Netflix documentary Trust Me: The False Prophet, joined us to unpack manipulation, control, and how even the smartest people can be led astray — and more importantly, how to find your way back.

These are not comfortable conversations. They are necessary ones.

And then there are the guests who show up to teach you how to build. Gary Vaynerchuk on turning obsession into empires. Evan Carmichael on finding your purpose and never letting go. David Meltzer on staying grateful and driven when the odds are stacked against you. Jim Kwik, author of Limitless, on unlocking what your mind is actually capable of. Dr. Laura Berman — Oprah’s go-to love expert — on grief, healing, and choosing to keep living fully. Dr. Nadine Macaluso on trauma and reclaiming your story. Dr. Sherrie Campbell on breaking free from toxic relationships for good. Gina DeVee, the woman who inspired this show to exist, on building a life entirely on your own terms. Kim D. from The Real Housewives and Lt. Joe Kenda, the Homicide Hunter, on the stories that shape us.

At the heart of every episode is one question: how do we actually live our best life — not the curated version, not the one we perform for others, but the real one? The one that lights us up, challenges us, and makes us feel fully alive. That is what we are building here, one conversation at a time.

New episodes every week. Apply to be a guest at www.getobsessedguest.com. Explore everything at www.getobsessedpodcast.com and www.getobsessedpod.com. Reach us at hello@getobsessedmedia.com — we read every single message.

Follow us on Instagram @getobsessedpodcast and Facebook — and tell us who you want to hear from next, or how YOU are living your best life. This community is built on your stories too. We are all in this together.

Kevin Donaldson, the co-host of The Suffering Podcast and an advocate for mental health, understands that suffering is an unavoidable part of life. He believes that suffering is not something to be feared or avoided but rather something that can be embraced as a necessary part of personal growth and development.

By embracing suffering and learning from the experiences it brings, individuals can become more resilient, empathetic, and better equipped to handle future challenges.

Kevin's understanding of suffering is grounded in the belief that the struggles and hardships we face in life can ultimately lead to greater understanding, self-awareness, and personal growth. How To Have A Stress Free Holiday in 2023 Nov 29, 2023
    Show notes

Navigating tough decisions during the holidays isn't about following a set of rules; it's about being true to yourself. Picture this: the holiday buzz is in the air, but amidst the festive cheer, you find yourself facing choices that aren't as merry and bright. How do you handle it, and more importantly, how do you do it with confidence?

Stay True to You: In a season often laden with societal expectations and family traditions, it's easy to lose sight of what feels right for you. The first step in confidently making hard decisions is to stay true to your authentic self. Ignore the external noise and listen to your own inner compass. What resonates with your values and brings you joy? Let that guide your decisions.

    Embrace Imperfections:

The holidays have a knack for magnifying the desire for perfection. The perfect family dinner, the perfect gift, the perfect Instagrammable moment. But here's the truth: perfection is an illusion. Embrace the imperfections, the unplanned moments, and the messy bits. Decisions become less daunting when you release the pressure to meet unrealistic standards.

Accept the Unpopular Choice: Confidence in decision-making often requires embracing the possibility of being the outlier. It might mean opting for a quiet night instead of the bustling family gathering. It could be spending the holidays away from home, or pursuing a personal adventure instead. Accept that the choice aligned with your truth may not align with everyone else's, and that's perfectly okay.

Prioritize Your Peace: Amidst the chaos, prioritize your peace of mind. Whether it's declining an invitation that doesn't feel right or setting boundaries with family dynamics, your mental well-being should be non-negotiable. Confidence in decision-making comes when you prioritize what brings you peace over the expectations of others.

Navigate Family Dynamics with Grace: Family dynamics can be a labyrinth of emotions during the holidays. Conflicting opinions, long-held traditions, and unspoken expectations can make decisions seem like a minefield. Navigating this terrain with confidence means acknowledging the complexity, setting clear boundaries, and communicating your choices with grace. Your decisions may not always align with everyone's wishes, but that's part of the journey.

Let Go of Comparison: The holiday season often invites the comparison game. Whose decorations are more festive? Whose family gathering is more joyous? Confidence in decision-making requires letting go of the need to measure up. Your choices are uniquely yours, and they need not conform to anyone else's standards. Comparison only clouds your clarity.

Trust Your Intuition: In the midst of external opinions and societal expectations, your intuition is your most reliable guide. Trust that inner voice that speaks to your deepest desires and values. Decisions made from a place of authenticity and intuition are the ones you're least likely to regret.

Learn and Grow: Confident decision-making is not about being flawless; it's about learning and growing. Every choice, whether smooth or challenging, offers lessons. Embrace the learning process, and view each decision as a stepping stone toward personal growth. With each choice, you refine your understanding of yourself and what brings you fulfillment. Conclusion:

Making hard decisions during the holidays with confidence is a journey of self-discovery and authenticity. It's about weaving through the tinsel and noise to find your own path. So, in the midst of the festive frenzy, be kind to yourself, trust your instincts, and let the decisions reflect the unique, wonderful tapestry of you. After all, the holidays are not about meeting expectations; they're about creating moments that resonate with your heart.

The Stress Obsession Nov 18, 2023
    Show notes

    Introduction:

Feeling overwhelmed by holiday stress? We've all been there. Whether it's relationship challenges, work pressure, or the demands of parenting, life can get chaotic. In this special holiday episode, discover quick and effective tips to reset, destress, and put your best foot forward. Let Coach Julie Lokun be your guide as she shares invaluable tools to help you not just survive, but thrive during the festive season.

    Understanding Stress:

The National Stress Institute highlights the complexity of stress, a subjective phenomenon defying a precise definition. Coined by Hans Selye in 1936, stress is described as "the non-specific response of the body to any demand for change."Actionable Tips:

    1. Prioritize Physical Well-being:
    2. Optimize your health during the holiday season by cultivating healthy eating habits, ensuring sufficient rest, and incorporating regular exercise. Taking care of your body facilitates a smoother journey through the healing process.
    3. Embrace Emotional Expression:
    4. Allocate time and space to express yourself freely. Connect with a supportive listener who offers a judgment-free zone for you to vent, cry, scream, or laugh. Sharing your feelings is a powerful stress-relief strategy.
    5. Journal Your Journey:
    6. Even if it's just a few words a day, let your emotions flow onto paper. Journaling provides an outlet for self-reflection and emotional release, contributing to a healthier mindset.

You've got this! Take one small step at a time to navigate the holiday season with resilience. Let Coach Julie Lokun inspire and guide you toward living well amid life's challenges. Thrive during the holidays by prioritizing your physical and emotional well-being, and remember, each step forward is a step toward a stress-free, joy-filled life.

Obsessed With Not Being A Victim Oct 27, 2023
    Show notes

In today's complex world, victimization is an all-too-common experience that many individuals face. Despite its prevalence, it's important to recognize that victimization is a normal aspect of the human experience. This article delves into the reasons behind this phenomenon, providing valuable insights into its psychological and societal roots.

Victimization can manifest in various forms, including bullying, discrimination, abuse, and more. It's crucial to understand that experiencing victimization does not make you weak or inferior; it's an unfortunate part of life that anyone can encounter. By acknowledging its normalcy, we can take the first step towards addressing and overcoming the challenges it presents.

Discover effective strategies to cope with victimization, regain your confidence, and rebuild your life. We'll explore the psychological aspects of resilience, share real-life success stories, and provide practical tips to help you navigate these difficult situations. Whether you're personally affected by victimization or seeking to support someone who is, this resource offers guidance, hope, and empowerment.

Don't let victimization define your life – learn how to rise above it, grow stronger, and lead a fulfilling, empowered life. Explore the world of victimization with us and find the strength to move forward.

Not everyone is a victim, but the concept of victimhood is complex and can be understood in various ways. Here are a few reasons why some people might perceive themselves as victims:

    1. Actual Victimization: Some individuals have experienced genuine victimization, such as physical or emotional abuse, discrimination, or other adverse circumstances. These experiences can lead people to identify as victims because they have suffered harm or injustice.
    2. Perception of Injustice: Some people might feel like victims due to perceived injustices, even if they haven't directly experienced harm. This perception could arise from societal inequalities, systemic discrimination, or personal grievances.
