    Fitness & Sushi

Fitness & Sushi is the podcast for women ready to stop dieting and start healing.

Hosted by Deanna Schober, creator of the Ideal Body Formula™, this show helps women over 40 recover from decades of emotional eating, binge eating, body image issues, and yo-yo dieting.

This isn’t about willpower, calorie counting, or chasing the next diet trend.

It’s about healing your relationship with food, your body, and your mind — so you can finally feel in control around food, stop obsessing over your weight, and live your life without guilt or shame.

Each episode covers the topics most searched by women struggling with food and body:

    How to stop emotional eating

    Healing binge eating

    Body image after 40

Intuitive eating for women in midlife

    Exercise motivation without punishment

    Perimenopause weight gain

    How to stop yo-yo dieting

    Food freedom and self-trust

    Breaking generational body shame

    Rebuilding confidence and self-worth

These are the real conversations behind lasting change — the kind that lead to mental freedom, peaceful eating, and finally feeling at home in your own body.

    New episodes weekly.

So how do you attempt something like intentional weight loss while keeping your feelings of freedom and peace?

    119. How to Stop Falling Victim to Diet Culture's "Eat Less, Move More" Advice Aug 22, 2021
    Show notes

🟡 Telling people to "eat less and move more" to lose weight is like telling people to "spend less and make more" to get wealthy.

    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Stating the obvious isn't helpful. What's helpful is understanding WHY these behaviors aren't being sustained and HOW to effectively ensure their outcomes.

    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

To be clear, the real goal of eat less / move more is to create an energy deficit. But eating less and moving more is not always the right approach to achieve that deficit.

    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Sometimes eat more / move more, or even eat less / move less is the better approach.

    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The same goes for creating wealth. The real goal of spend less / make more is to create a budget surplus, but there are many ways to do that.

    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Point being, following the eat less / move more advice isn't very helpful. It's like telling an alcoholic to just stop drinking.

    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

It's the obvious desired outcome - but the real struggle is in consistently achieving that outcome so that change can take place.

    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

In episode 119 of Fitness & Sushi, Deanna and I help you see past the obvious, yet unhelpful advice of "eat less, move more" so that you can start focusing on what really needs to be done to achieve your Ideal Body.

    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

In this episode - "How to Stop Falling Victim to Diet Culture's "Eat Less, Move More" Advice", you'll learn...

    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

🔶 Why "eat less, move more" misses the mark

    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

🔶 What you need to focus on first before that advice ever has a chance of working

    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

🔶 Why eating too much and being inactive aren't the actual problems that need solving

    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

🔶 The difference between intentionally and unintentionally eating less

    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

🔶 Why sticking to surface level advice will give you surface level results

    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

🔶 Deanna's foolproof way of claiming beach chairs

    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

    …and much more!

    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

T23. Less listening and more doing (after listening to this episode, of course 🙂) Aug 19, 2021
    Show notes

Your health and fitness journey will start to stagnate any time your input/output ratio gets out of alignment.

    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Lately I've been focused on language learning and acquiring fluency in Spanish.

    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

And as I usual when I study things outside the fitness space, I see all kinds of parallels to my fitness journey, and I discover new ways of understanding the struggles that go on there.

    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

And today I'm going to share with you the input/output parallel and what you need to do to get unstuck.
