FR Ep #205 Building Your Relentless Solution Focus in 2021 with Dr. Ellen Reed Jan 04, 2021
    Show notes

As we head into our new year guest Ellen Reed want to help you build your relentless solution focus. Ellen uses brain science to explain that our brains are wired to look for the negative so that doesn’t mean we’re broken, in fact we’re very normal. The challenge is that problem centric thinking wreaks havoc on our happiness, success, and health. As we habitually focus on our problems, we begin to increase our cortisol, lower our ability to actually overcome our struggles and our self-confidence is heavily impacted. How do we move away from problem centric thinking to solutions? Ellen clarifies that by solution she doesn’t mean complete resolution to your problems, instead seeing solution as any improvement in your current situation whatsoever- a plus one. Ellen explains that the Relentless Solution Focus is a tool that doesn’t turn a blind eye to problems and it’s not about putting on rose-colored glasses. The RSF is about getting to solutions faster! If she can help us learn to switch from problems to solutions in 60 seconds then we can eliminate the cortisol hit that shuts down our brains ability to think clearly. Ellen encourages listeners that even if we’re not wired to do this naturally, we can learn using the Relentless Solution Focus tool. In today’s episode, Ellen shares 2 powerful tools in the process: The Relentless Solution Focus (hint it’s a simple question) and “The Success Log’. The Success Log is a one-minute tool that we can use daily to begin to shift our focus from problems to solutions which boosts our brain by increasing our serotonin and dopamine. It’s a win-win! So grab a cuppa something wonderful and a good friend then start your new year off learning a tool that can change your life and your health in just a few minutes a day! www.feminineroadmap.com/episode205/

FR Ep #204 Reflecting on 2020 and Looking Ahead Dec 28, 2020
    Show notes

Today on Feminine Roadmap Gina reflects on the gifts of 2020 and looks ahead to 2021. We have all had many conversations about how challenging 2020 has been, it has been difficult to get away from that. Gina wants to reflect on the ways that 2020 has actually given us something to be grateful for, learn from, grow into. Reflecting on 2020 as a vehicle of purpose, focus and redirection not just challenge and loss. So much has changed yet some of those changes have brought about much needed reevaluation and redirection. When we reflect on how life “used to be” and we look ahead to the new year, there is much to be gleaned from our experiences collectively and individually, gifts that may still be hidden from us because we haven’t taken the time to find them. In this candid conversation, Gina invites us to pause and give some time to reflect, evaluate, investigate what the year 2020 has actually given to us and use what we find to be more intentional and focused in 2021. One of the key ideas is to not set New Year’s resolutions but to find a word that can become our guiding light for the year. Another key idea is to take what 2020 was, glean our story from it and turn to 2021 with our new story to be written with hope and expectancy. As we wrap up 2020, let’s tap into what we can control, our focus, mindset and perspective and write a new story for 2021. Grab a cuppa something wonderful, a good friend and join Gina for this encouraging reflection on the year that will go down in infamy. www.feminineroadmap.com/episode204/

FR Ep #203 The Back Forty with Darrell Gurney and Alexandra Levin Dec 21, 2020
    Show notes

Today on Feminine Roadmap Gina joins team at The Back Forty to talk about the power of your second half. Darrell Gurney and his wife Alexandra Levin are on a mission to create a movement to shift the cultural conversation about midlife. They believe the second half of life (aka the back forty) has unlimited growth potential if you shake off what general society has to say about midlife and beyond.
“Society tells us there’s this bell curve that after 40, 50 or 60 you’re on the downside with all of your best behind you,” said Darrell. “But what if those years were research and development? Those years are to bring you to your midlife fully equipped to be all you were meant to be and your biggest game is yet to come!”
Alexandra adds that “the future is bright ahead, the possibilities are infinite. There isn’t anything stopping us from doing and being our best especially if we mine from everything we’ve done before and learn from it, grow from it.”
The Back Forty has a framework of seven embraces that we take on which empower those of us in midlife and beyond to build a better future. Using these embraces we can shift our perspective from midlife crisis to midlife opportunity. How do we do that? By analyzing our first half we can see the direction it’s pointed us in to initiate ourselves powerfully into our second half.
One key to that initiation is to shift from being at the mercy of life and stepping into being the cause of your life, the one in the drivers’ seat. The Back Forty is focused on helping midlifers live a life that expands instead of shrinking. It’s their mission to empower us to give ourselves permission to play instead of hustle and grind or stop progressing all together. The Back Forty inspires a whole new mindset that life is ever escalating, an upward trending experience playing bigger and bigger games. Darrell asks us to consider, “What if your biggest game is yet to come?”
Join us to hear about how to come from a beginners mindset, to pursue play, to shed limitations and pursue growth that creates vibrancy and purpose. The Back Forty wants you to know that you are not limited at all, all things are possible, it’s time to play! Grab a cuppa something wonderful and hit play! www.feminineroadmap.com/episode203/

FR EP #202 Waking Up To Your Own Life with Leisse Wilcox Dec 14, 2020
    Show notes

Today’s guest on Feminine Roadmap, Leisse Wilcox, is inspiring women to wake up to their own life. Leisse draws insights and wisdom from her life experiences to help connect our common human experience as women, our struggles, our growth and our changing landscapes. Often we struggle through these challenges in isolation, when we do shame and judgement quickly follow. When shame and judgement is added on top of our emotional confusion and wounds it brings about more repression. Eventually that internal struggle must get louder and louder to get our attention. Leisse is calling women to courageously feel those emotions, face our shadows and find the freedom that awaits. In order to wake up to our own lives the journey is through those shadows to find the light on the other side. The challenge she proposes is that many women find themselves feeling that we should be martyrs in our lives, that we don’t deserve to seek what we desire. Who are we to ask for what we want and what feels right and good to us? At first it feels audacious to take time to think about what makes us feel whole, complete and lovely as a human in this world. She proposes that in order to wake up to our own life we must recognize that just because, yes, we can do anything doesn’t necessarily mean we should do everything. Our identities need to be separated from what we do, the roles we play and begin to come from our hearts and souls. Leisse reminds us to recognize our feelings because they are our feedback- the insight into what needs to be addressed- those feelings need to be felt to be healed. Leisse reminds us that in order to be our best in this world we must understand that our most important relationship is the one with ourselves. The better we become and the more authentically we live, the more we are able to show up in the world in a powerful way. If you are looking for practical strategies to wake up to your own life, crab a cuppa something wonderful and join Leisse and Gina. www.feminineroadmap.com/episode202/

    Show notes

Shari Leid, author of “50/50 Friendship Flow” and breast cancer thriver is today’s special guest on Feminine Roadmap. After Shari’s cancer diagnosis at 47 years old she began to become more intentional in her life and relationships. For her 50th birthday she decided that she wanted to meet with 50 women face to face to share with them what she had learned from them. When meeting with each woman she went in without expectations of a specific outcome. Shari found that these meetings not only deepened her connections and relationships but it also increased her confidence in approaching others. She digs deep into her most powerful takeaways from her year long experiment.
