    Show notes

Today on Feminine Roadmap we are talking about creating a midlife clarity project with Christine McHugh. Christine is a former Fortune 200 leader and is now an author of “From Barista to Boardroom: Lessons about Life and Leadership from a Career in Coffee” (out June 1st, 2021). She talks about how her midlife clarity process started with two things she never thought she was capable of, running marathons and writing a book, yet here she is with both of those under her belt. It’s through those experiences that she really began to shape her midlife clarity. Christine found herself facing a career change, an empty nest, and not being sure what her next phase of life was going to look like. During a conversation with a running friend she was encouraged to write a book and tell her story. Fortunately for us she took that advice to heart and began to learn how to write a book. Christine shares that journey with us, what it taught her, and what it was like to do that later in life. She found that both running and writing gave her a sense of confidence in herself. She encourages listeners to be open to what could be out there for them in midlife, including and especially those things that might seem impossible or unlikely. If you are ready to begin your midlife clarity project and experience your own great awakening then join us! Grab a cuppa something wonderful, a good friend and get ready to be inspired! Menopause happens to every woman and more often than not we are told we just need to grin and bare it. Not anymore! Dr. Mindy’s message is that you aren’t destined to suffer through menopause, you can actually be vibrant and thrive. You can actually win at menopause by tapping into your body’s ability to self heal and regenerate. You may be wondering about genetics and how that impacts our menopause experience, will we be an exact imprint of our mothers? Yes and no, Dr. Mindy explains that while we do inherit much of our hormonal imprints from our mothers, we can actually create different outcomes. How? By understanding genes, heredity and how our lifestyle choices impact that. A key starting point is the importance of gut health and minimizing mental, physical and chemical stressors. FR Ep #222 No Regrets Living with Dr Harley Rotbart May 10, 2021
    Show notes

Today on Feminine Roadmap we are talking about no regrets living with Dr. Harley Rotbart. Dr. Harley share his roadmap for putting aside past regrets and moving ahead with less regrets. Often when we get to the second half of life we begin looking at the end, the time we have left. We ask questions of our past, our decisions, how or if we can do it differently moving forward. Dr. Harley suggests that no regrets living begins with looking at the past as a pattern of faithful occurrences that had to happen to make us who we are today then practicing self-forgiveness and intention as we move forward. Next we add the belief in something greater than ourselves so we can appreciate that there are things that we cannot always control or understand. Once we’ve accepted that we can then seek to create a sense of appreciation for what was, and is, and is to come from a better perspective. Our past successes and failures are our tutors to practice no regrets living. While no life is without regrets, Dr. Harley wants listeners to accept what has transpired in our lives, release our sense of guilt and live in this moment with our full presence, with complete intention. No regrets living is about embracing what can be controlled, letting go of what cannot and living forward with purpose. We invite you to grab a cuppa something wonderful, a good friend and start no regrets living today! Just tune in to this life changing conversation. Please don’t forget to subscribe, rate and share this podcast with all of your friends.

FR Ep #220 How to Navigate the Emotional Impact of Cancer with Cynthia Hayes Apr 26, 2021
    Show notes

Today on Feminine Roadmap Gina’s guest, Cynthia Hayes helps listeners navigate the emotional journey of cancer. As a cancer survivor herself, Cynthia has become a patient advocate and author of “The Big Ordeal: Understanding and Managing the Psychological Turmoil of Cancer”. She shares what cancer has taught her about life and the control we have. Practicing letting go of control is a big part of the learning curve of cancer and accepting that life is going to be a roller coaster of emotions makes it easier to deal with it. One of her greatest beliefs is that while most cancer patients feel isolated they actually experience many of the same emotions and struggles. Cynthia wants listeners to know that their emotional response to cancer, or the response of their loved ones, is totally normal and somewhat predictable. By acknowledging that it’s okay to not always feel strong, brave and ready to fight, Cynthia believes that understanding this alone helps cancer patients and their loved ones build true resilience. In our conversation she talks about the impact of stress on the brain, the emotions and the body, what it looks like to navigate all of that. She shares the three main coping strategies that people use and how those can all come into play depending on where you find yourself on any given day. Cynthia also gives us sound advice on how to support healthy conversations around the cancer patient’s emotional journey. Often in our attempts to encourage someone with cancer we inadvertently may actually be communicating in a way that feels like judgement or an expectation of a certain behavior. If you or a loved one are experiencing cancer, this conversation will empower you along that journey. Grab a cuppa something wonderful, a love one and hit play. This is a powerful and practical conversation. Please remember to subscribe, rate and share! Thank you!

FR Ep #218 Finding God in the In Between with Stacy Averette Apr 12, 2021
    Show notes

Today on Feminine Roadmap we are talking about finding God in the in-between. This conversation with Stacy Averette is about that constant sense of transition, that feeling of not being quite where we thought we’d be by midlife. Stacy is on a mission to encourage women not to feel like they have to do it all, be it all or live up to others expectations. She reminds women to take the time to find some space in their lives, give themselves grace, and remember that God is at work in their lives even when they can’t see it. Stacy understands what it feels like to be lost in the in-between, feeling like you’re being benched somehow. On those hard days when it feels like we’re doing nothing important or worthy is when it’s good to remember that God is never doing nothing in our lives- He is always at work. Stacy guides us to have faith, show up and do the next right thing that we feel we are supposed to do whatever that is, no matter how ordinary it seems. Trust the process and know that God is a work in that for you. Often we get derailed by the ideas other people have and the prevailing ideas our culture puts forward. The world seems to encourage the idea that we should be at a certain place in life by midlife, doing certain things instead of focusing on being who we are and where we are in this particular place along our own journey. While there is a certain tension in these in-between times, these transitions and pauses, that can feel humbling, God is there. He doesn’t press pause and His measure is not like the world around us. Look up friend, there is fruit to be found in the in-between, in the ordinary. Grab a cuppa something wonderful, a good friend and sit with us to have this warm, authentic, empowering conversation! Please remember to subscribe, rate and share Feminine Roadmap with your friends! Thank you.
