    Feeling Things with Amy & Kat is a podcast for anyone who’s ever had feelings—or wants to. Hosted by Amy Brown and therapist Kat Van Buren, this is a space where nothing is off-limits. From deep reflections on childhood to pop culture obsessions to what’s happening in the world, all feelings deserve a seat at the table—big, small, awkward, joyful, confusing, and everything in between. At its core, it’s real friends having real conversations about real feelings. Some episodes go deep, some stay light, but all are rooted in curiosity, honesty, and connection.     It’s Fine, I’m Fine. Anxiety Manifested. Suicide Awareness. How To Get Help. Sep 24, 2020

    Therapist and host of 'You Need Therapy' podcast, Kathryn DeFatta, is on for all '4 things' this week to offer her wisdome on this mental health episode (since September is Suicide Awareness Month). FIRST THING: Amy and Kathryn talk about how it’s okay to not always feel okay. "I'm fine" will only get you so far, so it's important to check in with others (and yourself!!) to see how things really are! SECOND THING: Have anxiety? Do you need to release some stress? Kat shares the Arggh! ball with us (something she keeps in her office for clients, and Amy just ordered one for her house!). It's a simple, small, and cheap way for physical and emotional relief therapy. THIRD THING: Do you know the difference between suicidal ideation and suicidal intent? Kat explains this to Amy because she had never heard of it. They also go over the the correct way to talk about suicide, and share some statistics. FOURTH THING: There’s a new 3-digit suicide prevention number that will be coming out as an easier way for people to reach out if they are having mental health issues. And Kat shared that if you don’t have the funds to seek help, there are therapists who set aside time to help people who don’t have the funds for therapy.

Amy and Chase talk about the craziness of this year and why it's important to limit how much news you're taking in (especially during election season). THIRD THING: Adulting can be hard! Amy goes over a few things that = being an adult (some serious, some trivial). FOURTH THING: Can dogs understand love?! Amy tells us the different ways that dogs show love and affection with their owners.
