The Emotional Impact of Poverty & Healing During Economic Uncertainty and How to Stay Resilient May 24, 2020
    Show notes

Sharing some of my own road through poverty, struggle, and humbling myself in the name of survival. I hope it helps anyone who is out there facing economic uncertainty, fear, and (hopefully not) desperation. I name the societal shame trap of facing 'taking a job that's beneath me,' and that financial hardship is a major player in suicidal ideation and a continuation of anxiety/depression and PTSD symptoms. As many enter (or deepen) financial uncertainty within our covid economy, I want to keep talking about money, hope, resiliency, surviving to thriving, understanding these deep and tender, generational and worth-impacting dynamics. For the record, our worth as individuals does not change. My worth and your worth remain, fixed, no matter our financial value or comfort, if there is one dollar or millions, even when our feelings try to say otherwise.

How does poverty uniquely affect highly sensitive people (HSPs) and what can be done to build resilience in these challenging times? This episode addresses the emotional impact of financial hardship on HSPs, exploring personal experiences and effective mental health strategies. We discuss the role of societal shame, the connection between poverty and suicidal ideation, and practical tips for overcoming financial stress while maintaining mental health. By sharing stories of resilience and providing empowering advice, we offer support to those facing economic uncertainty. Learn how to navigate these deep, generational issues and understand that your worth remains unchanged, regardless of your financial situation.

Grammy and the Power of Choice: Codependency and Family Dynamics Apr 26, 2020
    Show notes

Chris encouraged me to post this publicly instead of exclusively on our show's Patreon. He said it's important. Some of my more personal stories feel more contained there than on the iTunes feed. Big breath. He's right. I hope there's something useful to you in the complexity of the story. It's about love, respect, personal choice, spiritual connection, letting go while in fear & unknown, and calling & dealing with some very real shit. Thank you for holding space for me within my vulnerability & truth.

In this heartfelt episode, we share Grammy's story, highlighting her strength in facing terminal illness and the codependency within our family. We discuss the pressures and emotional blackmail she endured from family members, her powerful decisions regarding her health, and the lessons she taught about independence, personal choices, and emotional resilience. Gain a deeper understanding of how to navigate your own family dynamics and make healthier, more empowered choices.
