Last year, Nebraska started 5-1 before they lost 4 straight games and barely made a bowl game…why is this year different? Oct 16, 2025

Show notes

Nebraska is once again 5-1…this year they don’t head to a buzzing Indiana team like last year in an embarrassing 56-7 loss to the Hoosiers….is scheduled the biggest reason why they won’t fall apart or is it something more?

If you say it’s schedule, a reminder that Nebraska had a chance last year to get bowl-eligible in early November with a home game vs. UCLA and fell behind by 20 points before losing the game….that team was trying to get to a bowl game for the first time since 2016, though. That monkey is off their back…so what’s the next barrier to break?

Matt Rhule met with media yesterday to preview Minnesota…what did we learn that we didn’t know when he spoke on Monday? Oct 16, 2025

Show notes

Yesterday’s press conference was definitely more about Minnesota than anything from last week or Penn State, as Rhule was able to focus on the Gophers and what challenges they present and the respect he has for PJ Fleck

Rhule mentioned that Minnesota QB Drake Lindsey throws up a lot of “50/50” balls that will be up to the defensive backs to go win those battles which they have the majority of the year….and he also mentioned that Lindsey doesn’t run much

CBS Sports’ Tom Fornelli believes Penn State will hire Matt Rhule but says there are 2 other viable candidates that would be better hires…do you agree? Oct 15, 2025

Show notes

Fornelli points out that Curt Cignetti should be the top target—and that he’d likely turn it down---and that he does expect Rhule to be the head coach…but points out the same thing all the detractors do on Rhule (2-25 vs. the Top 25)

Who would be better viable options? Fornelli says Iowa State’s Matt Campbell and Missouri’s Eli Drinkwitz. Iowa State has produced 19 NFL Draft picks since 2019 as a note…
