Dr. Elian is a former assistant professor and head of the Division of Implant Dentistry at New York University College of Dentistry (NYUCD) Department of Periodontology and Implant Dentistry. Renowned for his expertise in the evaluation and retreatment of implants, Dr. Elian completed his DDS degree and postgraduate studies in prosthodontics and implant dentistry at NYUCD.

Dr. Elian was director of the Fellowship Program in Implant Dentistry and the director of Experimental Research at NYUCD. He consults on product development for industry manufacturers and is an inventor and expert in both cell culture and tissue engineering. An international instructor, Dr. Elian is a visiting professor at the University of Chietti, Italy, and Tong Ji University, China, as well as Honorary Professor at El Instituto de Investigaciones Craneo Dento Maxilo Facial de la Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud in Argentina. He was also an adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Periodontics at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Elian serves on the editorial boards of many peer-reviewed journals and has trained an extraordinary number of specialists and general dentists in the science and surgery of implants.

Dr. Park talks about the origins of MegaGen, the first revolution of implantology, and why a second one has already happened.

Dr. Kwang Bum Park graduated Kyung Pook National University, School of Dentistry of Korea in 1985. He finished his residency in periodontics in 1988. After three years of academic teaching and research at Kyung Pook National University, he has been practicing periodontic and implant surgery since 1993. He founded a private dental institute ‘Perio-Line,’ and trained hundreds private practitioners on the topic of clinical perodontics and implant dentistry. He was a visiting scholar at the UCLA School of Dentistry, Department of Periodontics in 2000. In 2001, as a founding member, he started a dental hospital network called ‘MIR Dental Network’ which now compises of 21 large multidisciplinary dental hospitals throughout the Korea. He is presently CEO and Chairman of an implant manufacturing company ‘MegaGen’ which he started in 2002. He is the director of MINEC Dental Education Center which provides continuing education to practicing clinicians on the topics of implant dentistry. He is an international member of AAP, an active member of AO and an honorary member of Japanese Society of Gnathology and Occlusion.

Dr. John C. Kois DMD MSD, director of the Kois Center in Seattle, WA, explains that just because you have a new toy doesn't mean you're good at using it. He also addresses his 'hitman' mentality of the past and his joyous 'healer' attitude today.

Dr. Kois received his D.M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania, School of Dental Medicine and Certificate in Periodontal Prosthodontics with a M.S.D. degree from the University of Washington, School of Dentistry. He maintains a private practice limited to Prosthodontics in Tacoma and Seattle and is an Affiliate Professor in the Graduate Restorative Program at the University of Washington. Dr. Kois continues to lecture nationally and internationally, is a reviewer for many journals and is the co-Editor in Chief for The Compendium of Continuing Education in Dentistry. Dr. Kois is the recipient of the 2002 Saul Schluger Memorial Award for Clinical Excellence in Diagnosis and Treatment Planning, and received a Lifetime Achievement Award from both the World Congress of Minimally Invasive Dentistry and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. Additionally, he is the recipient of the 2014 Dr. Thaddeus V. Weclew Award, which is presented annually to a dedicated educator who embodies the spirit of comprehensive dental care. He is the past President of both the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry and American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry, and a member of numerous other professional organizations. In addition, he continues to work with restorative dentists at the Kois Center, a didactic and clinical teaching program.

Dr. Tawil received his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from New York University College of Dental Surgery and has a Masters degree in Biology. He also has a Bachelor's degree in Psychology.

Dr. Tawil has received his fellowship with the International Congress of Oral Implantology, and the Advanced Dental Implant Academy and recognition for Outstanding Achievement in dental implants from the Advanced Dental Implant Academy. He has also received an advanced periodontal training certificate from Harvard school of Dental Medicine, as well as, the President's Service Award for his volunteer work in places like Honduras, Tijuana, and Lima Peru. He volunteered his time along with several other dentists to provide dental care and implants to underprivileged recipients. Dr. Tawil is a member of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, Academy of Osseointegration, American Dental Association and the New York State Dental Association.

During his free time Dr. Tawil enjoys hobbies such as skiing, mountain climbing and biking.

Would you treat someone for chlamydia over and over again without checking their partner? Maybe you shouldn't treat for perio disease without checking their partner either!

Dr. Burton Langer earned his dental degree from Tufts School of Dental Medicine. He received his Certificate in Periodontics and Masters Degree in Science from Boston University School of Graduate Dentistry in 1966.

He was a former Associate Clinical Professor of Periodontics and the Director of Post Graduate Clinical Periodontics at Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology.

Dr. Langer was one of the first periodontists trained in osseointegration by Professor Per-Ingvar Branemark in 1983. His development of new modalities of therapy, such as the early re-entry procedure for bone grafts, the ridge augmentation procedure, the subepithelial connective tissue graft and various flap procedures for implants, have become standard methods of treatment.

Dr. Langer has lectured extensively throughout the world, has written over 40 articles, and chapters in 6 textbooks, many of which have original concepts that have enhanced the clinical practice of periodontics and implant dentistry. He is the 1992 recipient of the Hirschfeld Award for Clinical Excellence and the 1997 recipient of the American Academy of Periodontology Master Clinician Award.

Gordon J. Christensen is Founder and Director of Practical Clinical Courses (PCC) and Senior Consultant for Clinicians Report (CR) in Utah. PCC is an international continuing education organization that provides courses and videos for all dental professionals. CR offers unbiased research on thousands of dental products.

Gordon's degrees include: DDS, University of Southern California; MSD, University of Washington; PhD, University of Denver; an Honorary Doctor of Science from Utah State University, and an honorary Doctor of Dental Education and Research from Utah Valley University.

Gordon is a practicing prosthodontist in Provo, Utah. Gordon and Rella's sons are both dentists. William is a prosthodontist, and Michael is a general dentist. Their daughter, Carlene, is a teacher.

Dr. Smiler graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, School of Dentistry in 1964. He attended Boston University, Graduate School of Dentistry, earning a Masters of Science degree in 1968. Following an oral surgery internship and residency at Roosevelt Hospital, New York, he returned to California in 1969, establishing his oral surgery practice. Dr. Smiler has published numerous articles in dental professional literature and contributed to periodicals and text books. He lectures extensively and participates in symposiums both domestically and internationally at universities, academy meetings and implant conferences. He maintains a private practice in Encino, California.

Dr. Pikos completed an internship at Miami Valley Hospital and residency training in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh, Montefiore Hospital. We hear dentists say "soft skills don't matter" or "If I just do good work, people will come see me". The fact is that if you believe some of the dentistry dogmas, you're hurting your practice!

Dr. Goodheart graduated from Fort Hays State University in Hays, KS with a degree in Medical Technology (Clinical Pathology Laboratory Tech). He moved from central Kansas to Kansas City and began working in a large medical reference lab, specifically microbiology and immunology. After five years, he ended up as department clinic supervisor and decided to look into dental school. He graduated from UMKC School of Dentistry and then completed a General Practice Residency at the Kansas City VA Med Center. He then purchased a practice in the Kansas City area and has been solo-practitioner in his office since 1995. He completed his Fellowship in the AGD in 2008 and most recently completed his MBA at Oklahoma State University.

In 1960, Dr. Christensen received a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene from the University of Southern California, and practiced dental hygiene for over 25 years. She co-founded Clinical Research Associates (CRA Foundation) in 1976, and for 27 years directed this well-known dental products testing institute. Subsequently she served as Chairman of its Board of Directors. Currently she is the team leader of a non-profit institute dedicated to in-depth and long-term clinical studies of restorative materials, preventive dentistry, and dental caries, known as Technologies in Restoratives And Caries Research (TRAC Research). She has presented over 1040 dental continuing education programs, totaling over 5200 hours, at U.S. and international locations.
