Some patients with crowded teeth will never think about going to an orthodontist. Tif Qureshi arms general dentists with the training they need to help their patients on the ortho side of things.

Tif Qureshi qualified from Kings College London in 1992. He is a Past President of the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and sits on the editorial board of Dental Update. Tif has a special interest in simple orthodontics using removable appliances and was the first dentist in the UK to pioneer the Inman Aligner. He was the first dentist in the world to use the Aligner as a major tool for cosmetic dentistry. Tif also pioneered the concept of Progressive Smile Design through Alignment Bleaching, Bonding and is also an experienced teacher in the Dahl concept to assist in minimally invasive dentistry. Tif now lectures nationally and internationally and has had many articles published on all these subjects.

Angie Stone explains why nursing homes are almost always ill-equipped when it comes to oral hygiene, and how to help the patients there keep their teeth!

Angie Stone, RDH, BS began her career in the Navy as a dental assistant. After completing her enlistment, she continued to assist while obtaining her hygiene degree. As Angie practiced hygiene she completed her bachelors in psychology. She has taught in dental assisting and dental hygiene programs. She has also provided onsite education to dental professionals in 40 states and 5 countries and territories. In addition to numerous published articles, her original research regarding xylitol and elders was published in a peer reviewed medical journal in November of 2013. Angie’s book, Dying from Dirty Teeth, was launched in March of 2015. Her company, HyLife, LLC, brings oral care services to dependent elders because they shouldn’t “die from dirty teeth”. Angie is a six time attendee of CareerFusion and was awarded the Sunstar Award of Distinction in 2012 for her work with xylitol and the geriatric population.

Josh Brower, DDS discusses changes over the past two decades, the truly digital world we live in now, and the predictable (and not-so-predictable) future.

I graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1997 after receiving a health professionals scholarship from the US Army. I spent 2 years while in school training with specialists at Tripler Army medical center on Oahu, 2 years training in Germany, and 1 in Louisiana prior to receiving an honorable discharge and entering the regular world of dentistry. I worked in public health, then as an associate, owned a solo practice for over a decade in a rural community, and now own multiple rural and urban practices with multiple associates working with me. I focus my dentistry on dental implants, surgery, and orthodontics and have spent a lot of time designing dental implants, teaching about them, writing journal articles, and helping others make it through the road blocks I encountered along the way.

Sherran Bard, founder of Dental Practice By Design, explains her humble industry beginnings, why she needed to write her book, and how to ask your patients the right questions!

Sherran Bard was born and raised in Texas. She worked in Dentistry for over 30 years as a Team member and Consultant.

She currently owns Dental Practice by Design, an onsite consulting company based in Texas.

When she began as an assistant, she was told she would basically be a janitor for the dentist and the patient; picking up and cleaning up every mess made. Immediately she began to study how to be much more than a janitor to the dentist and patients. She worked for that dentist for seven years before transitioning to another practice. The dentist there encouraged team training and growth. He was a CE junky. Her and the dentist began to work with a consultant.

She then learned to talk to the patients and ask what they wanted, rather than telling them. She has since retired from the practice atmosphere and has started teaching practices how to grew to $2M a year, working 10-12 day months and with 4 team members. She integrates a bonus system for the practice, equally sharing a calculated monthly amount to reflect their production and collection averages.
