    • 5:21 - Weekly family meetings
    • 7:33 - "Raising a son is real work, but we have to get this right, because if we don't teach our sons, the world will. If we don't teach our sons about women pornography will if we don't teach our sons about friendship, they'll live a life of loneliness. If we don't teach our sons about leadership, they'll be followers all their lives. Being a father is not about efficiency. It's about discipleship. Father is not about time management. It's about heart development."
    • 9:37 - "A lot of good involved dads, but an intentional dad that goes that step further to consciously ask who is my kid? What at what time of history did they live in? What am I responsible to sort of give them that's going to tee them up for their future."
    • 10:58 - Minimal manhood and skillful manhood
    • 17:00 - Leaning into the "firsts" and making them intentional moments

    • 24:07 - "It's just the process of how to give away what you have and make sure it shows up in somebody else's life. It takes more time to do that. It takes a lot of time, but when you see the joy of somebody who owns something that's literally gone from your life into their life, they now have a deposit and this deposit can be given to somebody else's life. That, to me, is one of the greatest things you can experience as a dad."
    • 25:16 - "I think this is the key here, because so often our culture is built on charisma and charisma is like that person possesses the magical gifts that none of us have. And therefore, it produces celebrity culture and consumerism. But when you codify the gift and you can show somebody, here's what I'm doing that is working, you then impart it to them and it creates contributors in confidence rather than consumption."
    • 25:59 - Shop Class as Soul-craft
    • 28:15 - "Men need a cause. A cause is bigger than a vision, more expansive than a strategy, and more long lasting than a season. It's larger than a fight." - From The Intentional Father
    • 30:09 - On the power of a cause in men: "I basically want to infuse that a man has strength and that he should utilize it in a great fight. But the difference is it needs to be in the real world as opposed to just accomplishment. And it needs to be for the sake of others. It's never your strength. It's never to oppress others for self gratification. It is always to lift the oppressed for the sake of the other."
    • 30:52 - "And a part of it is to try and help young men realize, don't give you a vigor and your strength to wasted things because you have no idea how you could participate in God's great cause if you channel them for the sake of others."
    • 32:14 - Wisdom on relationships: "The circle of intimacy, the circle of impact in the circle of influence"
    • 33:13 - Most important priorities in 2nd through 5th grade: (1)"maintaining the emotional bond and setting the family culture" (2) "understand the psychological development of what's happening in that age"
    • 40:50 - "I just have a path of intentionality that sets up the odds in your favor. And again, you can't control your son's heart, but you can fight for it. And this is a plan to fight for your son's future. And I believe that when we do that, we activate the heart of God's divine favor comes through our way, the Holy Spirit, gets involved and we're not on our own. And without it, I think you're left to chance and you're left to the world."

    • 2:14 - Troy Magnum is author of Fatherhood Face Plants
    • 3:50 - How to be a difference maker/fire starter.
    • 4:29 - "There are so many men that are dads that are fatherless and and they need to know that they can become amazing, incredibly amazing fathers with God training them as father."
    • 8:25 - "So we all have a back story that God, if we're willing to let God take us there, he'll take your treasures out of you. That will be so deep and rich because it's a generations before you. It's not about you. It's about you inheriting something God put back way back in generations before you."
    • 11:35 - "A lot of what the book is about is about, you know, that whole idea of getting back up and becoming the dad your kids need so much of the storyline with God is to get back up, to receive forgiveness, to seek reconciliation, to receive wholeness, to do whatever it takes to become a man that God wants you to be for your children and for your own self and marriage and et cetera. And so that is such a crucial crossing point because men so many times out of guilt and shame, they retreat and and the kids are just like, OK, I guess I guess this whole dad thing's over for you now, huh?"

    • 15:04 - "You pass on as a dad, you pass on who you are more than what you know. You can know the right things to do. You can know the scriptures that say you should do this, you can know a lot of things, but you will pass on who you are..."
    • 19:03 - A wall or wind - Are you going to be a wall your kids need to scale to get to what God has called them to be, or are you going to be wind in their sails?
    • 21:50 - "You pass on who you are more than what you know you want to be the whole, the most whole, healed, healthy in every sense of the word, man that you can pass on."
    • 22:29 - Stepping into the frontier and letting God teach the skills you need. ..."are you willing and aware that this is offered to you, this training module? You look in any scripture, any man in the Bible, you can say they went to training... And a lot of that training has to do with difficulty sometimes and challenges and putting yourself in the frontiers of 'I've never been here. I've never done this. I don't have the skill.' None of that intimidates God. And if you yield yourself to God, he will put you in situations that are above your head, above your pay grade, above your talent, above your skill intentionally to help you learn skills, talents, abilities, confidence, [so he can expand your influence.]"

    • The Thief comes to KILL, STEAL & DESTROY (Drifting)
    • But I have come to bring ABUNDANCE… LIFE to the FULL" (Dreaming)
    • Satan wants to kill, steal and destroy the work of God in your family, your work, your ministry, your friendships, your finances, your marriage, your parenting, and your health…
    • The Thief (satan) wants you to be a DRIFTER. DRIFTING is a WIN for satan
    • Remember our Bible Story?
      • Saul was DRIFTING – he was the king and he was sitting under the pomegranate tree… (Meanwhile, Saul was taking it easy under the pomegranate tree) >> There were about six hundred men with him

    • Pain is One of the Primary reasons we DRIFT. Hurts, pains and past struggles lead us to avoid risk... PAIN >> Passivity… Pain can lead to PAUSE or a Plateau in our journey of trusting God.
    • PAIN >> Passion & Purpose
    • DREAMER - Kids don't worry about constraints or limitations... They think with a filter of abundance and possibility
    • Acts 2:17 "…God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people; your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams." (Joel 2:28)
    • Two Steps for each of us: We are going to Remember & Run
    • Remember You Are a Child of God - it starts with your identity… You are a LOVED child of God.
    • To live as a DREAMER, you must receive this gift and step into your identity as a Son of God… A Daughter of God
    • Run! Throw off the Weight and Run!
    • Hebrews 12:1 "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us"
    • Pain leads to Passivity. Pain leads us to hit PAUSE on our DREAMS.
    • The pain of our past has stolen our FREEDOM and we are looking through the little rearview mirror and over our shoulder at what should be behind us.

    Marcus Montana

Marcus Montana, known as TRU-SERVA to his music audience, is a passionate man whose mission is to help others find true life.

Growing up in a single parent home in Lacombe, LA outside of New Orleans, he was forced to raise himself while his Mom worked two jobs to provide for the family. Trapped in a materialistic society he chased after self-satisfaction, experiencing a void of true love. He was left broken after a long pursuit to fill that void, until one day....

At age 16, while TRU was at the end of his rope, drained from the emptiness of unfulfilling pleasure, he came face to face with Christ. He chose to take a spiritual step and committed to a personal relationship with Jesus.

TRU felt a calling to use his talent of hip-hop to help change lives. From a young age, hip-hop influenced his style, language and attitude and it felt natural to use this genre of music and way of life to help reach people. Through his rap lyrics, he portrays a powerful message of the cross and of a positive change. He sees himself as an over comer and example of hope to many, where he stepped above the trap of being an African American male dead or in jail by age 25.

A strong vision for connection is what this musician strives to accomplish each and everyday. TRU aims to make a connection between the streets and the church, saying "The walls of the church need to fall down and people need to get out of their seats and go out." He also wants to see the connection between generations, where he can speak to both kids and adults.
