    Dr. John Rusin joins us to discuss training and the rehab continuum in this episode of The Podcast.     This week, I share my thoughts on the whole Chelsea not lifting weights because they don’t have weights on them when they play. I think we, as coaches, are missing the forest though the trees when we start to have arguments on this and need to focus less on what these great athletes are doing now, and more on what they were doing to become what they are today.

    In this weeks edition of The Podcast Power Athlete’s Tex McQuin joins us to discuss training and developing athletes. After a brief intro of himself and what Power Athlete is and does Tex jumps right into how he his playing and coaching career have been motivated by an early mistake. This leads us right into discussing the impact of CrossFit Football on him as a coach and how he educates coaches around the world. Tex then shares with us some of the disconnections between CrossFit and “sport specific” training that they tried to fill with CrossFit Football. We then discuss assessments and how they look at posture and positioning through out warm up and training as a guide to their programming. This leads us into breaking down the three axis of rotation of the hip and how they train around this idea. We finish out talking about Wades Army, what it is, and how they got it started.     We, as coaches, like to talk about how we can control volumes and look to apply the most effective dose of training, but how does that change in season for your developmental kids? Most of them are practicing a ton, but are you killing them in the weight room?     Today David Tenney joins us to share with us his move from MLS to the NBA. After Dave shares with us how he got to Orlando he shares with us what he learned as he entered the new position in Orlando inlacing what brought with him there, things that he has had to make alterations too, and some things that are completely different. We then discuss how the impact of increased number of competitions and great amounts of travel impact the direction of how they monitor the players and handle team wide activities. This includes how the discussions and decisions may be different due to the culture of the sport and how some things are very similar between basketball players and soccer players. For the last 15 minutes of this discussion Dave shares with us how he looks at the development of these athletes, how the origination is assist them in the process of building resilience in their athletes, and how the newer expansions in The G League have impacted developmental players and how their development is organized.
