    Crossing the Streams with Brent and Aaron

    Most of us older than 30 remember mix tapes and the time we spent meticulously curating the perfect collection of songs to introduce friends to new music. The mediums we grew up on have moved to streaming services and playlists, but the sentiment still rings true. Every Monday, Aaron and Brent trade songs to find out what has changed and what will never change. Music is ever-evolving, but the fingerprints of the past are always present.     Aaron and Brent look at music from an Irish band that got their start when they were still in their teens and a group from Birmingham, England that were one of the first to capitalize on the advantages MTV offered in the early 80s. Releasing groundbreaking music videos that helped turn them into one of the most successful bands of the 1980s, Brent spotlights three songs from Duran Duran.

    Aaron showcases a Nashville-based singer whose unique voice is reminiscent of a familiar soulful sound while Brent looks at music from a singer-songwriter who started as a session player but would later go on to earn the nickname the "Prince of Motown".     Aaron looks at music from a New Jersey group that, after five well-received albums of sincere and genuine songwriting, opted to go on indefinite hiatus in 2015 and Brent spotlights an influential Boston band with a debut album that stayed on the Billboard album charts for over a year. Achieving critical acclaim with albums like The '59 Sound before deciding to step away to work on other projects, Aaron picks out three songs from Brian Fallon and The Gaslight Anthem.     Aaron and Brent spotlight music from an Austin-based singer/songwriter who started his career as an actor before transitioning into a role as a one-man band and an 11 time Grammy Award-winning member of the Country Music Hall of Fame who found his way into the mainstream by landing several songs on the Billboard Top 10. Featured in TV roles like Friday Night Lights under his real name, Alejandro Rose-Garcia, before self-releasing his debut album in 2011, Aaron looks at three songs from Shakey Graves. Starting as a songwriter in the late 50s before achieving success in his career as a singer, actor, and Tony Award-winning composer, Brent highlights three songs from Roger Miller.

    100th Episode Special Featuring Matt Pinfield Feb 28, 2022

    For their 100th Episode, Aaron and Brent welcome a special guest who equally shares their love of music, both new and old. With a radio career that started in the mid 80s before transitioning to television in 1995 hosting MTV's 120 Minutes, Matt Pinfield has earned respect from fans, peers, and musicians over the years for his encyclopedia-like mind of music history and never-ending passion for the music he loves. As Vice President of A & R and Artist Development for Columbia Records, Pinfield was responsible for the signing and overseeing the production of albums by acts including Coheed & Cambria and Crossfade. In 2016, Pinfield penned his memoir, All Of These Things I’ve Done: My Insane, Improbable Rock Life, named after the song The Killers wrote about him. Not only does Pinfield take part in a compelling discussion on all things music with Aaron and Brent but he also joins them in picking artists to spotlight including The Virginmarys, Tyler Warren, and, The Wonder Stuff.

    The Police & Rogue Wave Feb 07, 2022

    Aaron highlights an Oakland-based band with music that has been featured in TV shows like "Weeds", "One Tree Hill", and "The Vampire Diaries" and Brent spotlights a trio, formed in London, that came to prominence in the wake of the punk rock movement of the late 70s. Originally formed by vocalist Zach Schwartz in 2002 before partnering with long-time collaborator and drummer Pat Spurgeon, Aaron looks at three songs from Rogue Wave. Opting to go their separate ways after releasing their most successful album, Synchronicity, in 1983, Brent spotlights three songs from Sting and The Police.

    Aaron and Brent highlight music from a Bellingham, Washington-based group that started as a solo project for its lead singer and an influential English rock group with a sound that's been described as everything from post-punk and gothic to alternative and pop. Famously taking their name from a song by the British group, the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band, Aaron spotlights three songs from Ben Gibbard and Death Cab For Cutie. Known for their teased black hair and messy makeup as much as their unique sound that has helped the band sell over 30 million albums worldwide, Brent looks at three songs from the career of Robert Smith and The Cure.
